DESOTO PARISH, Louisiana
NB and SB lanes of U.S. Highway 171 south of Kickapoo in DeSoto Parish are temporarily closed.
The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office says damage from a buckle in the highway first closed the SB lanes then affected the NB lanes as well.

Extreme heat caused a section of NB I-97 in Anne Arundel Co to buckle Friday, creating a major traffic hazard for drivers heading from the Annapolis area toward Baltimore.
The damage occurred near the Brightview Dr overpass, where a long section of concrete failed from shoulder to shoulder.
Broken slabs and exposed rebar pushed upward across all 3 NB travel lanes.

(Near) Vankleek Hill, ON ~ Canada
The already rough section of concrete pavement on Highway 417 near Vankleek Hill became even rougher on Thursday, July 2.
Hot temperatures caused the concrete to buckle in the WB lanes, resulting in some significant bumps.
According to OPP Sergeant Erin Cranton, 2 vehicles sustained damage. No injuries were reported.
Due to the damage, the WB lanes were closed bw Highway 34 (Exit 27) and McCrimmon Road/County Road 23A (Exit 35).
Cranton said the WB lanes of Highway 417 remained closed overnight so the road could be repaired.

JONESBORO, Arkansas
A Thursday evening explosion at a City Water and Light electrical substation left approx 1,200 customers without power and was captured on a Jonesboro PD dash camera.
According to Slade Mitchell, energy marketing administrator for City Water and Light, a potential transformer (PT Transformer) at the substation adjacent to Chuck E. Cheese near Turtle Creek failed and exploded.
The dramatic blast happened as a Jonesboro police officer was conducting a traffic stop nearby. The officer’s patrol vehicle was pointed directly toward the substation, allowing the explosion to be recorded on the dash camera.
Mitchell said the equipment failure interrupted electric service to about 1,200 CWL customers. Utility crews quickly rerouted power through other circuits, restoring service to all affected customers by 7:30 p.m.

SEABROOK, New Hampshire
Police and firefighters responded to Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant on Friday afternoon for a fire, according to the plant's owner, NextEra Energy.
"We are aware that a fire occurred earlier today at a substation on our property - not related to the nuclear plant," a NextEra Energy spokesperson said in a statement to WMUR.
“The Town of Seabrook Fire Department responded, and the fire has been extinguished. There were no injuries, no evacuations, and the nuclear facility was not impacted. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
According to police, two transformers failed because of the high heat. Police said there was never a danger to the power plant.
