DANGEROUS FLOODING SWEEPS THROUGH CENTRAL VIETNAM

Torrential rain is overwhelming parts of Quang Tri and Hue, sending rivers rising, swallowing roads and forcing roughly 700 people from 160 households to evacuate.

And the amount of rain is staggering, with more than 680 mm, nearly 27 inches, recorded at Bach Ma and even more expected across the region.

Now the danger is growing in the mountains, where saturated ground is raising the threat of flash floods and landslides.

Hundreds have already been forced from their homes, and with more rain coming, this may not be over yet.
