#PhD_Opening at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) for Solid Mechanics in #Microelectronics Applications


The Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM) Group at Delft University of Technology is seeking a PhD candidate, who is available immediately. Applicants should have a recent Master degree with a strong research record in solid mechanics: multi-scale/ multi-physics modeling of advanced materials, computational mechanics for materials, structures and energy systems in extreme environments.

This is a four-year research contract position. In the Netherlands, PhD candidate will be employed as junior researcher: they receive a good salary that is linked to funded research projects. PhD Position in Computational Mechanics at Binghamton University

We are inviting motivated, talented students to apply a #PhD opening fully funded by NIH starting Fall 2020 or Spring 2021. The project is focused on the computational modeling of membrane mechanics for understanding vesicle formation in bacteria. The student will work in a multidisciplinary group with experimental microbiologists and mechanical engineers. Candidates with a background in mechanics and biophysics/biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Strong programming skills in C/C++ and experience with all-atom or coarse-grained molecular dynamics are preferred. Strong publication record and excellent research training will have significant advantages. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Xin Yong directly. The Soft Matter and Interfacial Phenomena Lab (SaIL) at Binghamton University (http://bingweb.binghamton.edu/~xyong/) focuses on the numerical simulation and mathematical modeling of transport and interfacial phenomena in synthetic and biological soft materials, includes but not limited to colloidal assembly, polymer gels, bacterial membranes, and biofilms. The research findings from the group have been published in highly regarded journals like Nano Lett., ACS Nano, Angew. Chemie Int. Ed., J. Colloid Interface Sci., Macromolecules, J. Biol. Chem., etc.
