Predicting Landing Gear Noise with Volcano ScaLES

Control of airframe noise has become more critical in the noise reductions for civil aircraft, particularly during landing or take off. Landing gear noise is one of the main contributors to airframe noise. It is mainly caused by flow over complex bluff bodies such as the wheels, struts, leg-doors, etc. This nature of flow and the associated noise is challenging for the analysis and improvement of the aeroacoustic performance of landing gears using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Aero-Acoustics (CAA) tools.

A newly developed compressible Navier–Stokes solver based on octree Cartesian grids, Volcano ScaLES, is used for Wall-Modelled Large Eddy Simulations (WMLES) of of a nose landing gear for the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics predictions . The video shows a simulation with 290 million cells performed in one day (100 CTUs) on a desktop computer containing just two Nvidia RTX 4090 GPUs with 24 Gb of memory each. This represents a major breakthrough in LES utilization for aerodynamics and aeroacoustics making "supercomputer-class" calculations routine on readily available resources. Automated, predictive, and cost-effective simulation capability is critical to provide the vast amount of data needed to train AI/ML models for engineering decisions.

شبیه سازی مبدل حرارتی
با دو جریان گاز -10 و 200 درجه سانتیگراد

دو حالت مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. اول جریان های موازی و دوم جریان های مخالف.

در جریان مخالف دمای گاز داغ تا 93.4 درجه خنک شد که نمایانگر تبدیل حرارتی موثر بود.

برعکس در جریان موازی، دما در 110.15 درجه پایدار شد.

اختلاف دمایی زیاد در این نوع مبدل ها به دلیل شوک حرارتی یک چالش اساسی است. گرادیان دمایی بالا به خصوص در هنگام استارت یا خاموشی مبدل موجب تنش های حرارتی در ماده می شود که تحلیل تنش های مربوطه در پی آن صورت می گیرد.

از دید ساخت، باید مواد با تلورانس های دمایی بالا و فیچرهایی نظیر اتصالات انبساطی یا پروتکل های تدریجی گرمایی/سرمایی برای جلوگیری از این اثرات منفی موثر بکار گرفته شود.

قبل از ساخت، حتما باید اثرات شوک حرارتی بر ماده و استحکام آن ارزیابی گردد.

مدل مرتبه کاهش یافته(ROM) یک روش برای کاهش پیچیدگی محاسباتی از مدل های ریاضی در شبیه سازی عددی CAE است. در این روش ضمن حفظ رفتار ذاتی مدل عددی، مدل کامل کاهش مرتبه پیدا می کند. در نتیجه، زمان محاسباتی کمتری صرف می شود و در درستی نتیجه تغییرقابل توجهی به وجود نمی آید.
