🇵🇱⚡️- Video taken near the Constitutional Tribunal. It would appear several hundred protesters are at the scene.
🇵🇱⚡️- Right-wing media Telewizja Republika claims President Nawrocki is set to meet with the President of the Polish Supreme Court then with the President of the Constitutional Tribunal Bogdan Święczkowski.

⚡️🇵🇱 - For our followers not familiar with what is happening in Poland and WHY it is happening, here is a breakdown.

The ongoing political crisis in Poland stems from a dispute between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Karol Nawrocki over the Constitutional Tribunal.

🤔 Donald Tusk believes that the previous PiS government (2015–2023) politicized the judiciary through controversial judicial appointments. This is backed up by a 2025 EU court ruling which supported growing concerns over the Tribunal’s independence. Tusk argues his reforms are necessary to restore the rule of law.

🤔 Karol Nawrocki meanwhile believes that Donald Tusk’s government is politicizing the judiciary by appointing political allies, including former government minister Maciej Berek. Nawrocki argues that the reforms violate constitutional procedures.

Today, Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski was reportedly suspended, triggering protests and a police deployment.

Both sides accuse each other of undermining Poland’s constitutional order

🇵🇱⚡️- Reporters near the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw assess there could be as many as a few thousands protesters already. According to local journalists, supporters and members of PiS and Confederation have set aside their differences in a show of unity against Donald Tusk. President Nawrocki is awaited by the protesters.
🔎 🇵🇱 👮‍♂️ A purported Polish police order, dated 29 Oct and signed by Deputy Police Chief Tomasz Michułka, puts riot units nationwide on full readiness for immediate deployment from 2–8 November, equipped with submachine guns, less-lethal weapons and night-vision gear.

The document has not been officially confirmed and does not mention the Constitutional Tribunal.

🇵🇱⚡️- From what is visible online, Donald Tusk has little support outside his own party. On the other hand, President Nawrocki is being backed by the entirety of the Polish right-wing scene and is even getting support from several independent and centrist figures.
🇺🇸🇵🇱⚡️- "The events unfolding tonight at Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal are very serious indeed. We appear to be witnessing an unprecedented confrontation over the government’s use of state power and the independence and authority of a constitutional institution." - American Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose.
🇵🇱⚡️- Representatives from most of the forces composing the Polish opposition are present in the protest in Warsaw to denounce Donald Tusk's actions. It would appear the rivalry between the PiS, the Confederation Party and the KKP has been put aside for now.
🇵🇱⚡️- "We categorically refute the information that refers to a letter dated 29 October of this year, addressed by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Police to the provincial police commanders, and suggests the use of officers in a situation related to the Constitutional Tribunal.
In reality, the letter stating the full readiness of police officers from 2 to 8 November of this year is related to current threats associated with acts of sabotage and diversion." - Polish Police on X.
📝 🇵🇱 🧵 Poland in 2026. A house divided | Paweł Wójcik on X:

Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal crisis stems from PIS’s 2015 power grab. PIS invalidated PO’s 2015 judicial appointments, swore in new judges (including chief Judge Przyłębska) to control the court, and used it to legitimize controversial laws. After PIS lost power in 2023, the new Tusk-led coalition, lacking a constitutional majority and allied with a hostile President Duda, faced continuous vetoes and judicial obstruction. In October 2026, the government forcibly removed PIS-appointed judges in an attempt to reform the institution, escalating a long-standing political and legal standoff.
