A four -day exhibition Forum organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education will be officially opened in Yaounde today.
As it is every year, Cameroon celebrates its National Day on May 20. This constitutes a time of strong fellowship and a right time for assessing the progress made in the process of strengthening ties among the people of the same country, promoting cultural and linguistic diversity as wealth, affirming patriotism and above all adhering to the same vision. It is against this back drop that in preparation for the 45th Edition of the National Day Celebration in Yaounde, on the theme âArmy and the Nation in full Synergy for a Cameroon, United in its diversity and devoted to the ideal of peace, stability and prosperity,â the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), is organising a four -day exhibition forum in Yaounde under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Head of Government.
The four -day exhibition forum that opened yesterday May, 15, 2017 is expected to end on Thursday May 18. The event is taking place at the National Museum in Yaounde. During this forum, there will be exhibition fair such as gastronomy, promotional sales of basic commodities, a theme-based exhibition on the changes in Cameroon history, citizenship and solidarity activities such as citizenship walk coupled with religious teaching caravan, special blood donation and cultural and socio-educational exchange. CT visited the Nation Museum and toured the installation of the exhibition stands by the various ministries, fashion designers amongst others. Also present were primary and secondary school pupils and students respectively, who came to demonstrate their spirit of national unity and solidarity.
Inspector General of Progammes at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Levy Herve Oyono, said the importance of the forum is to bring together Cameroonian youth, all they have as asset, as strength in unity to make sure that everybody is aware, see and be consolidated in his or her feelings as Cameroonian, during the celebration of this yearâs National Day come May 20, 2017.

Candidates for the 2016/2017 Cameroon General Certificate of Education (GCE) began the exercise across the country yesterday.
Serenity reigns in most secondary schools nationwide as candidates for the 2016/2017 Cameroon General Certificate of Education (GCE), Ordinary and Advanced Levels began sitting-in for the practical session of the examination. Reports from some examination accommodation centres in Yaounde reveal that the practical session which began with Computer Sciences for the Ordinary Level and Food Sciences for the Advanced Level is moving on hitchfree.
As early as 9:00 a.m. yesterday, May 15, 2017, groups of candidates for the Computer Sciences practical session were in their various examination halls manipulating their computers. Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Essos, Yaounde, which is accommodation centre number 1105, hosting 24 different centrs as well as Essos external centre number 112 is accommodating 358 Computer Sciences candidates who have been divided into three groups. The principal of GBHS Essos, Steve Ncha Chi explained that the practical session which began on May, 15, 2017 will end tomorrow with the last group which consists of 118 candidates. He revealed that no major problem was witnessed on the first day of the practical except for some few candidates that were late for at most 10 minutes before the start of the examination. Practical session continues on Thursday and Friday May 18-19 with Geology and ICT practical session for Advanced level candidates. The situation at Government Bilingual Practising High School (GBPHS), Yaounde, which is accommodation centre No 11009, is not different from other examination centres. GBPHS is hosting centre No 11008 (Yaounde external), 11774 (YBHS) and centre No 22090 which is Yaounde external candidates for GCE technical education. The Vice Principal of GBPHS, Patrice Njiki told Cameroon Tribune (CT) that some 118 candidates are undertaking the GCE Oâ Level Computer Science practical while 78 Aâ Level candidates are participating in the Food Science practical session. Patrice Njiki noted that two candidates who registered for the GCE in the South West Region happened to find themselves at the school premises yesterday morning. According to the Vice Principal, this does not pose a problem because the Minister of Secondary Education had given instructions for such candidates to be accommodated in different centres in Yaounde.

Cameroon-Guinea Promises To Be Tough
Sports
Elizabeth MOSIMA
Group A matches will again be the centre of action today in Port Gentil with the second game pitting the Cadet Lions of Cameroon against the Silly National of Guinea promising to be tough. In their first games, Cameroon suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat from the Black Starlets of Ghana while Guinea humiliated hosts Gabon 5-1. Football lovers are therefore eager to see what will happen in the second game. Even though the Cadet Lions lost their first game they are determined to move on.
Team captain, Dyo Ngakole Christian declared that the team lacked some concentration in the first game, Cameroon put up an uninspiring performance in the first game and as the team captain later explained, they were playing against a team that is well organised and well disciplined. According the Head coach, Bertin Ebwelle, the Black Starlets of Ghana have a matured team while the Cadet Lions are playing their first outing in the international scene. With todayâs encounter being a crucial one, Coach Bertin Ebwele will be counting on the talents of strikers Stephane Zobo, Bella Rosin Christian, among others. The objective according to Bertin Ebwelle is to grab their first three points to ensure a good continuation in the competition.
Guinea coach, Souleymanou Camara, on his part, said his team did its best to win the first three points. He said even though they won the first match it does not mean all has been won. He said the objective is to win the game for the continuation of the team in the competition. Attackers on both sides will be out to secure early goals in the first half to be able to win the game. This notwithstanding, the Cameroon-Guinea game will be a difficult one as each side still has a chance to move on to the second round. Also, both sides would have observed each other and put on counter strategies and look for faults on which to capitalise to win.

Cancer/Reproductive Medicine: CHRACERH Widens International Partnership
Brenda YUFEH NCHEWNANG-NGASSA
A convention was signed between the Reproductive Hospital and the American Hospital of Paris yesterday, May 17, 2017 in Yaounde.
In a bid to commemorate the first anniversary of the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital abbreviated CHRACERH, the management of the hospital organised a workshop at the hospital premises on the health of women in Africa during which a platform convention for collaboration between CHRACERH and the American Hospital of Paris (AHP) was signed. Presiding at the ceremony yesterday, May 17, the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda, lauded the strides made by the management of CHRACERH in upgrading the quality of health services offered to the population. While thanking the management of the American Hospital of Paris for the confidence placed on the Administrator, General Manager of the Yaounde Reproductive Hospital, Professor Jean Marie Kasia and his team, Minister AndrĂ© Mama Fouda underscored that such a partnership will help the hospital provide quality health care to Cameroonians particularly women. âYou are transforming the dream of the Head of State into realityâ, Minister Mama Fouda told the staff of CHRACERH and the American Hospital of Paris. The Minister called on participants at the workshop not to remain at CHRACERH with the knowledge they have obtained but to go to other hospitals and demystify the issues behind cancer which remains unknown to many people. The Vice President and Representative from the AHP, Dr FrĂ©dĂ©ric Chiche said the convention signed with CHRACERH in collaboration with the Association for Health of Women in Africa, will permit the exchange of medical know-how. Twice each year, two main workshops will take place at the Yaounde Reproductive Hospital during which experts from the AHP will come to Cameroon and share their knowledge on oncology, and latest methods in handling gynaecological problems. Dr FrĂ©dĂ©ric Chiche said the American Hospital of Paris, founded in 1906, is a private, nonprofit making hospital that is considered licensed/non-subsidized under the French healthcare system. The Hospital has an extensive Ancillary Services Department, equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment Professor Kasia used the occasion to trace the history of CHRACERH which is the fruit of a strong determination of Cameroonâs First Couple to provide quality healthcare to women in Cameroon and beyond. It was a day to celebrate one year of a positive balance sheet of the hospital which records 40 per cent success rate in In-vitro fertilisation (IVF). The event was attended by several members of government and a delegation from the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC).
