WHAT IS PLOT AREA, CARPET AREA, BUILT UP AREA, SUPER BUILT UP AREA & SETBACK AREA???

PLOT AREA:

---Plot area commonly known as site area is a piece of land enclosed by definite boundaries. The mean horizontal distance between the front and rear site boundaries is known as depth of the plot area.

BUILT UP AREA OR PLINTH AREA:

Built up area is the total covered area measured at the floor level of the basement or of any storey. That means the area covered by a typical building or flat. It is also known as plinth area.

Areas included in built-up area:

Bedrooms, living room, hall, balcony, kitchen, bathroom, utility area, shafts, staircase, terrace, verandah, Wall thickness.

SUPER BUILT UP AREA:

The built-up area plus common proportionate areas such as swimming pool, garden, park, gym, playground etc is known as super built-up area.

Areas included in super built-up area:

Swimming pool, garden, park, gym, playground, clubhouse, and other amenities.

CARPET AREA:

Carpet area is the area excluding the walls of built-up area. In simple words, it is the internal space within the walls which you can actually use. Usually, carpet area is around 70 -90 % of the built-up area

SETBACK AREA:

The area on all sides of the plot boundaries laid down by the local municipal authority beyond which nothing can be constructed toward the plot boundary is known as setback area.

The line usually parallel to the plot area on each side is call setback line. This area helps a building to get more daylight and fresh air to the street level.

Let us say you are a site enginner for a given site. your structural plan drawing instruct you to place a dia 20 reinforcement bar c/c 15cm, but dia 20 bar is not available in the market because of some reasons. what would you do if you can't get it in the market?

๐Ÿ‘‰Types of Culverts

๐Ÿšง1.Pipe Culvert

โบCircular, Elliptical, or Pipe Arch shape. Made of concrete, steel, or PVC. Used for small streams or drainage under roads.

โบEasy to install and cost-effective.

๐Ÿšง2.Box Culvert

โบRectangular or square in shape, made of RCC.

โบUsed for large discharges and urban drainage.

โบCan carry road traffic directly above.

๐Ÿšง3.Arch Culvert

โบArch-shaped structure made of stone masonry, brick, or RCC.

โบUsed for moderate flow and offers aesthetic appeal.

๐Ÿšง4.Slab Culvert

โบRCC slab over masonry or concrete abutments.

โบUsed for small spans (up to 3 m).

โบSimple and economical for short crossings.

๐Ÿšง5.Bridge Culvert

โบCombination of bridge and culvert structure.

โบUsed for large spans and heavy flow areas.

โบActs both as a bridge and a culvert.

๐Ÿšง6.Pipe Arch Culvert

โบArch-like pipe with a wide bottom, used when headroom is limited but wide flow is needed.

โบBetter hydraulic efficiency than circular pipes.

๐Ÿšง7.Scupper Culvert

โบUsed to drain water from bridge decks or roads.

โบUsually small openings along bridge sides.

๐Ÿ‘‰Construction Sequence of a Building โ€“ Step by Step

1. Site Preparation: Clear vegetation, mark layout, and level site.

2. Excavation: Excavate to required depth for foundation.

3. Foundation: Place footing, concrete, and reinforcement as per design.

4. Plinth Beam: Cast plinth beam and fill up to floor level.

5. Superstructure: Construct columns, beams, and slabs (RCC work).

6. Brickwork: Build walls between columns for rooms and partitions.

7. Lintel & Roof: Cast lintel and roof slab; apply waterproofing.

8. Plastering: Apply internal and external plaster for smooth surface.

9. Flooring: Lay tiles, marble, or granite flooring.

10. Doors & Windows: Fix frames and shutters properly.

11. Electrical & Plumbing: Install wiring, piping, and fixtures.

12. Painting & Finishing: Paint walls, install fittings and polish surfaces.

13. Final Inspection: Quality check and handover to owner.

๐Ÿ‘‰How to Calculate Number of Floor Tiles

1. Measure Room Dimensions

- Example: Length = 20 ft, Width = 20 ft
- Total area = 400 sq ft

2. Measure Tile Size

- Example: 60 cm ร— 60 cm
- Area of one tile = 3.875 sq ft

3. Calculate Tiles Needed

- Divide total floor area by tile area
- Result โ‰ˆ 104 tiles

4. Final Result
Youโ€™ll need around 104 tiles to cover the floor.

๐ŸทAlways add 5โ€“10% extra for wastage and cutting.

๐Ÿ“Œ Viral Caption Idea
โ€œMeasure smart, tile right! ๐Ÿงฑโœจ Accurate tile calculation saves money, time, and effort.
