Admitting facts, shielding officials: Israeli army opens two delayed probes, closes three over 35 Gaza killings

The Israeli army's internal investigations announced on 19 August into five incidents, which led to the deaths of 35 people, including children and humanitarian and medical workers, continue a well-known pattern of Israel denying or misleading the public about such events. This pattern causes investigations to be delayed for months or years, ultimately acknowledging only what can no longer be denied and limiting responsibility to operational errors.

This frequently results in cases being closed or only superficial disciplinary actions being implemented. It turns internal investigations from a means of uncovering the truth and holding perpetrators accountable into a legal shield that hinders the prosecution of soldiers and commanders, reinforcing impunity.

Israel intensifies apartheid policies against Palestinian citizens of Israel after 7 October

Israel has escalated apartheid policies against Palestinians with Israeli citizenship, since 7 October 2023 extending their reach through new laws, security actions, and administrative procedures. This has worsened their restricted and conditional citizenship status and increased persecution based on their Palestinian identity, Arabic language, and political views.

This escalation has been incorporated into laws, police actions, workplaces, and educational and health systems, reinforcing the dominance of the Jewish Israeli community and ongoing discrimination against Palestinians in their homeland. Moreover, it is taking place within a political and security environment in which Palestinian citizens are racially profiled, and their political views are treated as sources of suspicion, exposing them to increased surveillance, persecution, and discrimination. The application of counter-terrorism provisions to expression has expanded the scope of criminalisation and given discrimination based on national identity legal and institutional cover.

Addressing Palestinian women prisoners, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir took pride in the harsh conditions imposed on Palestinians in Israeli jails, boasting about his role in making their detention even more inhumane.

His remarks come amid a documented pattern of repression against Palestinian prisoners, including torture and ill-treatment, humiliation, denial of medical care, and sexual violence.
Palestinian women prisoners have reported sexual harassment, threats, invasive strip searches, physical abuse, and other forms of gender-based violence.

These abuses are not isolated incidents. They are part of a broader system of repression and deliberate deprivation targeting Palestinians behind Israeli prison walls.

A “choice” made under coercion is no choice at all.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz says they are “fully prepared” to transfer Palestinians from #Gaza to other countries, as Palestinians are subjected to conditions that increasingly make life unlivable.

Forced expulsion is not emigration. It’s ethnic cleansing.

From Spain to Netherlands to UK: Israel exploits Gaza aid coordination to entrench occupation and settlements

Israel’s decision to exclude the UK from the International Gaza Support Center (IGSC) in Kiryat Gat, formerly known as the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), once again highlights that the centre, similar to all other initiatives derived from Trump’s Gaza plan, is not autonomous from Israel’s occupation system or political interests.

Israel, which has effective control over aid access in Gaza, also manages which parties participate in coordination, treating membership in the centre as a privilege that it grants or revokes based on countries’ stances on its policies.

The US-led centre, involving representatives from around 50 countries and an international organisation, was created to oversee the ceasefire, coordinate aid delivery, and set up post-war arrangements in the Gaza Strip. However, Israel barred Spain’s representatives from participating in April and then barred the Netherlands’ representatives in August. Both actions were reportedly linked to the respective governments’ stances towards Israel and its policies, especially the Netherlands’ decision to ban imports of settlement products.

Yemen: Urgent investigation needed into Al Jawf prison airstrike amid risk of wider conflict

An urgent, independent investigation is needed into the airstrike that struck the Central Correctional Facility in Al Hazm, Al Jawf Governorate, northern Yemen, on Monday, 7 September. The attack resulted in the deaths and injuries of detainees and visitors, with some remaining trapped under the rubble. This incident could constitute a war crime. Authorities must identify those responsible and ensure justice is served.

The latest toll, released by the Health Ministry affiliated with the Houthi de facto authorities, reports 17 dead, including a child and a woman, with seven others injured, and about 20 detainees still trapped under the rubble.

Colombia’s withdrawal of intervention does not affect South Africa v. Israel case or obligations under Genocide Convention

Colombia’s withdrawal from the case South Africa filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), regarding Israel’s alleged violations of the Genocide Convention in the Gaza Strip, marks a significant setback. This decision hampers international efforts to uphold the Convention, protect Palestinians from genocide, and hold perpetrators accountable.

In a statement issued on 22 September 2026, the International Court of Justice announced that Colombia had notified the Court on 18 September of its decision “to withdraw its Declaration of intervention that it had filed under Article 63 of the Statute of the Court.”

Israel turns Gaza into largest ghetto in modern history, killing residents one after another as three-year genocide continues

Israel has transformed the Gaza Strip from the world’s largest ‘open-air prison’ into the largest ‘ghetto’ in history, with more than two million Palestinians isolated under the weight of an unprecedented double blockade. This combines military control over around 70 per cent of the enclave’s area, forcing residents into overcrowding and depriving them of their right to housing, with the closure of crossings to systematically control the entry of basic needs. As a result, residents are trapped in a depleted area without the minimum requirements for survival amid ongoing genocide.

The comprehensive and unlawful outer blockade, enforced by closing crossings, is tightening the noose around millions of forcibly displaced people in the Gaza Strip. It entrenches systematic deprivation by preventing the entry of life-saving supplies, including food, medicine, fuel, and shelter materials. This is part of a humanitarian restriction taking place alongside the widespread destruction of homes and health facilities, depriving residents of their most basic rights and their ability to endure or receive medical care.

Yemen: Humanitarian collapse imminent amid military escalation; immediate investigation required into killing of POWs

The large-scale military escalation in Yemen and the grave violations that may amount to war crimes threaten a comprehensive humanitarian collapse in Yemen. The expanding scope of fighting, disrupted supply routes, and ongoing restrictions on vital crossings and internal roads are worsening hunger and displacement. They are depriving millions of civilians of food, medicine, shelter, and healthcare, putting their lives at risk in a country whose capacity to provide even the most basic necessities for survival has been exhausted by years of conflict.

The military escalation in Yemen resulted in the deaths of 959 people and the injury of 4,207 others between 6 August and 2 October 2026, according to figures published by the World Health Organization on 4 October. This came as the Houthi group advanced along the western coast and the Yemeni government, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, launched a large-scale military operation aimed at “restoring state institutions and ending the coup”.

Today, three full years of Israeli genocide in Gaza have passed.

Three years of relentless killing, mass displacement, starvation, destruction and the systematic dismantling of life in Gaza.

Three years of families burying their loved ones, children growing up amid rubble and fear, and two million people forced to survive conditions no human being should endure.

Israeli incitement campaign paves way for attacks on Gaza hospitals, threatening Palestinians’ means of survival

The escalating official and media campaign of Israeli incitement against hospitals and medical centres in the Gaza Strip is paving the way for attacks on the healthcare facilities that remain. It seeks to deprive Palestinians of any chance of survival and to continue subjecting them to living conditions that lead to their destruction.

Using unsubstantiated claims to justify such attacks, after three years of systematically destroying the healthcare system, signals an insistence on continuing the genocide by preventing the restoration of services essential to people’s survival and eliminating the capacity to save the wounded and treat patients.
