Gaza: Israel commits another massacre against civilians trying to access communications and Internet services

Palestinian Territory -
The Israeli army has committed another horrific massacre against Palestinian civilians in Gaza City who were trying to access communications and Internet services. This adds another crime to the long list of atrocities that Israel’s army has committed against the civilian population in the Gaza Strip since its genocidal war began last October.

Israel has committed full-fledged war crimes and crimes against humanity as part of its genocide in the Strip, ongoing for nearly eight consecutive months now.
Notably, the Israeli army continues to repeatedly target and kill Palestinian civilians, including journalists, as they attempt to access communications and Internet services to reach their families or employers. Using aerial bombardment, snipers, or drones, Israel directly targets these individuals—who pose no threat or danger to its army—in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli army’s destruction of more schools, health centres in Gaza is additional manifestation of genocide

Palestinian Territory -
As part of its genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army has intentionally destroyed schools and medical facilities during its ground invasion of Gaza City’s southern Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood and Jabalia in Strip’s north.

Seven days after the start of its latest ground incursion in the area, Israeli forces withdrew from Gaza City’s Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood. The Wednesday 15 May withdrawal revealed the destruction of three schools—Ain Jalut, Atta Al-Shawa, and Hassan Al-Nakhalah—as well as the Zaytoun Medical Clinic, which had provided healthcare to the neighbourhood’s roughly 80,000 residents.

ICC should establish national office in Palestine to expedite its investigations

Palestinian Territory
- The International Criminal Court (ICC) should open a country office in Palestine to expedite its investigations into the crimes committed by Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The ICC must include the crimes that Israel has been committing in the Gaza Strip since last October.

The ICC should take such action to facilitate and finish its investigations on the ground; ascertain the circumstances surrounding the commission of these crimes and their consequences; review the facts of the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory in its entirety; gain access to, and operate in, all areas where these crimes are committed, including the Gaza Strip; and be able to view and exchange all evidence quickly and effectively in a way that ensures its safe and secure preservation.

Scores of the wounded and sick die due to Rafah crossing closure

Palestinian Territory -
The ongoing closure of the Rafah land crossing, which connects the Gaza Strip to Egypt, has resulted in a dire humanitarian crisis for Palestinian civilians and has accelerated the genocide that has been taking place since 7 October.

By blocking the Rafah crossing, Israel has tightened its grip and imposed a crippling siege on the Gaza Strip, cutting it off from the outside world and resulting in the deaths of scores of injured and ill people. Additionally, the closure of the crossing has hindered the flow of humanitarian aid and medical supplies, further undermining the efforts of the few remaining local hospitals.

Israel must be held accountable for its crimes against Palestinian athletes in Gaza

Palestinian Territory
- The International Olympic Committee and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) must take decisive action against Israel, to hold it accountable for the crimes against Palestinian athletes committed in the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip that began on October 7.

At least 270 Palestinian athletes have been killed as a result of the continuing Israeli military attack on the Gaza Strip, now in its eighth month. In addition, all sports facilities, infrastructure, and stadiums have been completely or seriously damaged.

Return of hundreds of thousands of forcibly displaced people to Gaza City and North Gaza must be secured, not used as blackmail card

Palestinian Territory
- The international community must take swift and serious action to force Israel to stop committing its crime of forced displacement against the people of the Gaza Strip. Israel has forcibly displaced over 1.2 million residents of the Strip in a systematic, widespread, and repetitive manner since the start of its genocidal war on 7 October 2023.

After being forced to travel and shelter south of the Gaza Valley in recent months, thousands of people must be allowed to return to their homes in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates. This is especially important since the Israeli military attack on Rafah has effectively ended the existence of the so-called “safe zone”, which served as a relative haven for those who were forcibly displaced from various parts of the Gaza Strip and had no other place to stay.

Hostages of Israeli revenge in the Gaza Strip: Testimonies of 100 released Palestinian detainees reveal crimes of torture, cruel treatment

Palestinian Territory - In a new report released Tuesday, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor documents the testimonies of about 100 released Palestinian detainees. These testimonies confirm that the Israeli authorities and army committed horrific crimes of arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture, and inhuman and cruel treatment against thousands of Palestinian civilians who were arrested as part of Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip, ongoing since 7 October 2023.

In a 50-plus-page report titled “Hostages of Israeli Revenge in the Gaza Strip”, Euro-Med Monitor brings to light the widespread practice of arbitrary collective and individual arrests by Israeli forces against civilians in the Strip. Those arrested during Israel’s military incursions and its ground attacks on cities, camps, and residential neighbourhoods throughout the Strip include women, children, the elderly, and displaced individuals.

Gaza: After ICJ order to halt attacks on Rafah, Israel launches over 60 air raids on the city in 48 hours

Palestinian Territory
- Israel continues to ignore orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), including the Court’s most recent ruling. This ruling requires Israel to halt its military assault on the Rafah Governorate in the southern Gaza Strip and reopen the Rafah border crossing to facilitate the movement of people and humanitarian aid. In the 48 hours that followed the ICJ’s ruling on Friday 24 May, however, Israel conducted more than 60 air raids on Rafah.

Furthermore, dozens of artillery shells and constant gunfire were fired in areas of Rafah where the Israeli military was encroaching. Israel’s ground incursion began at dawn on 7 May and has since spread to the west and central parts of the city, mostly along the border strip. It has already impacted a significant portion of the city.

Gaza: Less than 30 hours after its first massacre, Israel bombs more displaced civilians in Rafah

Palestinian Territory - Israel has committed a new massacre against civilians in displacement tents in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip. Less than 30 hours after its first horrific massacre near the warehouses of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the so-called “safe zone”, Israel bombed displacement tents located in the vicinity of these same UNRWA facilities.

The Euro-Med Monitor field team documented the killing of seven civilians, including four women, after Israeli aircraft at dawn today (Tuesday 28 May), once again bombed displacement tents in the Tal Al-Sultan area, west of the city of Rafah. All victims were members of the Abu Jarad and Tanboura families. They had been forcibly displaced to the south after the Israeli army forced them to leave their homes in Gaza City and the Strip’s northern parts. However, they were targeted by Israeli aerial bombardment in their displacement tents.

Gaza: Israel continues its crime of ethnic cleansing by destroying last neighbourhoods, UN shelter centres in Jabalia camp

Palestinian Territory - Throughout its three-week military operation against the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israeli army has deliberately continued its crime of forcibly uprooting Palestinian civilians. Israeli forces have completely destroyed all of the camp’s remaining necessities of life, housing, and survival—including entire residential blocks—as well as destroyed, either partially or fully, the United Nation shelter centres there.

Israel’s army has been conducting a large-scale military operation in the Jabalia camp since 11 May, which it began only a few hours after suddenly issuing forced displacement orders against thousands of local residents. The Israeli army has struck residential neighbourhoods and other civilian objects in the vicinity with fire belts, and has been continuously bombarding civilian targets with intensive and indiscriminate artillery attacks. This is in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law regulations pertaining to proportionality, military necessity, and taking all necessary precautions.

West Bank: Israeli army bears full responsibility for the horrific injuries of Wafa Nayef Jarrar

Palestinian Territory - The Israeli army bears full responsibility for the life and safety of Wafa Nayef Jarrar, who was arrested and detained for four hours in a dangerous area of violent clashes and whose life was deliberately exposed to grave danger. What Jarrar, age 49, was subjected to from the first moment of her arrest until her release reflects the repeated and systematic violations faced by Palestinians during their detention by Israeli forces, including arbitrary arrests, abuse, use as human shields, torture, and denial of medical care. The Israeli army continues to evade responsibility for the suffering and harm caused by its crimes and serious rights violations.

Jarrar was taken into custody by the Israeli army on 21 May from her home in Jenin, in the northern West Bank. The army later claimed that Jarrar had been seriously injured in an explosion while inside the military vehicle, where she was kept detained for four hours. Despite its claim, the army issued an administrative detention order against her before releasing and turning her over to the Palestinian Liaison Office, even though her health was in critical condition. This is a clear effort by Israel’s army to avoid taking responsibility for the serious injuries Jarrar sustained during her detention, which resulted in the amputation of her legs above the knees as well as damage to her spine and lungs, and to avoid its legal obligation to provide the necessary medical treatment.

Gaza: Israeli army expands its use of quadcopters to kill more Palestinian civilians

Palestinian Territory - As part of its genocide that has been ongoing since 7 October 2023, Israel has been ramping up its use of small drones, or quadcopters, to drop explosive bombs and “shoot to kill” more Palestinians.

The Israeli army uses electronically controlled quadcopter drones remotely for a variety of tasks, including espionage and surveillance, issuing displacement orders, frightening civilians with loud noises, and—most dangerously—using them as a weapon to kill and injure Palestinians.

Sudan: Intl. community’s ongoing inaction in the face of daily atrocities and massacres must end

Geneva
- The international community’s ongoing refusal to address the daily atrocities and massacres that are being documented in Sudan must end. The bloody conflict has resulted in horrifying numbers of human casualties and the greatest internal displacement waves in history, and there will be further disastrous effects if the international community fails to take serious and decisive action to halt the widespread, deliberate, and indiscriminate attacks that civilians in Sudan are subjected to.

This action should include holding accountable the parties involved in the 14-month conflict—which, according to the United Nations, has resulted in about 15,000 deaths and 10 million displaced people.

Euro-Med Monitor welcomes Spain’s decision to join SA’s ICJ lawsuit against Israel, calls on other countries to follow suit

Geneva -
Spain’s decision to join the genocide lawsuit filed by South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel over its ongoing military attack in the Gaza Strip, ongoing since 7 October 2023, is welcomed by Euro-Med Monitor.

According to Article 63 of the Statute of the Court of Justice, which permits any State Party to a treaty whose interpretation is disputed to intervene in an ongoing lawsuit, Spain’s action will add new evidence to support South Africa’s case and legal position. To elevate the case against Israel to a major international issue, similar actions are required from every nation.

Condemning Israeli Nuseirat massacre, Euro-Med Monitor calls for an investigation into use of US pier for military purposes

Palestinian Territory
- The massacre carried out by the Israeli army today, Saturday, in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip is strongly condemned by Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor. Grave concern is also expressed over reports that Israel may have used for military purposes the US pier intended for transporting humanitarian supplies to Gaza.

Over two hundred Palestinians were killed today and hundreds more injured, most of them women and children. This is a preliminary figure that could rise as recovery efforts proceed. The attacks occurred in intense, two-hour-long Israeli army air, land, and sea raids on the Central Market area, where thousands of people from the Nuseirat camp and its environs congregate daily. Most of the central Gaza Strip was also subject to the attacks.

Denmark’s double standards, denial of genocide in Gaza are flagrant
Geneva - The Danish government refuses to face or evenacknowledge the risk that Israel is committing a genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, despite the landmark ruling from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and numerous statements of recognition from international institutions including the United Nations, prominent lawyers, and nongovernmental organisations .
A citizens’ proposal signed by 53,188 Danes asks their government to respect and fulfill its international obligations according to the Genocide Convention, to which Denmark is a State Party since 2005. According to these obligations, Denmark is required not only to stop genocide, but also to prevent it.
Circulation of the citizens’ petition started on 16 January 2024 andended on 4 June, after it garnered more than 50,000 signatures, obliging the parliament to consider it. Yet during the debate at the Folketing, it quickly became clear that the government, together with the right wing, intended to tear down the citizens’ proposal.

Killing, torture, and injections of unknown substances: Intl. community must act on Israeli violations of Gaza detainees

Palestinian Territory - New testimonies from Palestinian detainees released from Israeli prisons and detention centres received by Euro-Med Human RightsMonitor confirm that thousands of civilians have been subjected to inhumane and degrading treatment and severe torture as part of Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip, ongoing since 7 October 2023.

The international community and international justice institutions must break the cycle of silence, declare firm positions, and take concrete action against the horrific torture that Palestinian civilians, both male and female, are being subjected to. This abuse has escalated to such an extent that, for the victims fortunate enough to survive, it now includes sexual violence, forced injections with unknown substances, and deliberate scarring and unique marking of their bodies. The degree of the violence should compel the international community to force Israel to stop all of its crimes against Palestinian prisoners and detainees, including the crimes of torture, inhumane treatment, and enforced disappearance, which have been committedagainst thousands of individuals from the Gaza Strip over the past eight months.

Gaza: Euro-Med Monitor investigates Israel’s massacre of 120 Palestinians, most of them from one family

Palestinian Territory - The Israeli army carried out a massacre in the northern Gaza Strip’s Jabalia refugee camp when it bombed a residential complex last November. Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor led a months-long investigation into the circumstances of the massacre, which Israel committed, using US-made bombs with enormous destructive power, as part of its genocide against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, ongoing since 7 October 2023.

The investigation was based on multiple field visits to the attack site, survivor testimonies, eyewitness accounts, and satellite images. According to the findings, approximately 120 people—the majority of them from a single family—were killed in several Israeli air strikes that targeted Abu Eida Square, a residential square with buildings housing hundreds of civilians and displaced people.

Israel escalates attacks against Palestinian journalists in Gaza

Palestinian Territory
- Since the start of its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023, Israel has made Palestinian journalists one of its primary targets and committed numerous crimes against them.
These grave crimes and violations against journalists contravene international law, the rules of war, and the duty to protect journalists and not impede their pursuit of truth and accurate representation of the reality on the ground.
