Jean Barratchard, né à Bayonne, s'est engagé à 14 ans dans le 1er Régiment de la Légion Etrangère à la fin du mois d'octobre 1914. Il part combattre dans le secteur de Reims. Il sera blessé à Prunay, au Sud-Est de Reims. Quand il est évacué, l'administration de l'Armée française prend conscience de son jeune âge et il est rapidement ramené chez ses parents.

Jean Barratchard, born in Bayonne, joined the 1st Regiment of the Foreign Legion at the age of 14 at the end of October 1914. He left to fight in the Reims sector. He was wounded at Prunay, south-east of Reims. When he was evacuated, the French Army administration became aware of his young age and he was quickly brought back to his parents.

📌 "Gwer" is a racial slur that is used by Arabs to refer to whites in a pejorative way. A kind of equivalent to "nigger", but against whites.

👨🏾 Belgium's main museum, the Musée des Beaux Arts has posted a photo of a black man as a tribute to the great German composer Beethoven.

✊🏾 The museum also announced that Beethoven's opera "Fidelio" would be performed, but in a version inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement.
