گزارش جدید مرکز تحقیقات پیو (Pew Research Center) نشان می‌دهد اغلب بزرگسالان در آمریکا معتقدند که جنبه‌های مذهبی تعطیلات کریسمس در مقایسه با گذشته کمرنگ تر شده است، و گروه اندکی از این تغییرات اظهار ناراحتی کرده اند.
طبق این نظرسنجی 55% افراد کریسمس را به عنوان تعطیلات دینی جشن می‌گیرند، که از این تعداد، 49% معتقدند کریسمس بیشتر یک تعطیلات مذهبی می‌باشد تا آنکه تعطیلات فرهنگی باشد و حدود 9% گفته اند که کریسمس را به عنوان تعطیلات فرهنگی-مذهبی قبول دارند، در حالی که این تعداد در سال 2013 به ترتیب 59%، 51% و 7% بودند...

Nonetheless, the studies of South-East European Muslims have not been exclusively conditioned by political events – transformations in social sciences at the global level have also shaped the evolution of this topic. The aim is to analyze the performative intervention of certain normative discourses and coercive techniques on the Islamic tradition, on the forms of socialization and on the more or less institutionalized civil and identity foundations of Balkan societies.

✳️ IRIC condemns the horrific massacre in New Zealand and expresses its condolences
In the Name of God
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we received the news of the most barbaric terrorist attacks and the heinous massacre of the innocent worshipers at mosques and places of worship in New Zealand. This terrorist act resulted in the tragic loss of life and injury of many innocent people whose only sin was that they gathered to worship God.
This senseless attack was an affront not only to the Muslim Community in New Zealand, but also to the people of New Zealand, and the broader humanity. It was a horrifying assault on a way of life that embodies decency and friendship and to those who believe in interfaith dialogue and coexistence among the followers of religions.
Real Muslims are the followers of the Prophet of mercy and peace, Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), and those who have lived peacefully with the followers of other religions in different countries for many years.
Islamic Research and Information Center (IRIC) condemns these barbaric attacks and is determined to continuously combat Islamophobia, heinous terrorism and violence in cooperation with other peace-loving people and organizations and the international community.
We believe such evil acts can never defeat compassion and tolerance at this most heartbreaking of times and it is the responsibility of the international community to confront the rhetoric of hatred and terrorism, which is not recognized by religions or values of coexistence among peoples.
IRIC strongly condemns the incident and expresses its condolences to those who lost their loved ones and extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and the injured and wishing the injured an early recovery. May Almighty Allah expedite reappearance of the Promised Savior in order to terminate all cruelty and injustice in the world.

این مرکز بخشی از مرکز مطالعات خاورمیانه دانشگاه دوک و دانشگاه کارولینای شمالی در چپل هیل می‌باشد و رویکرد آن ایجاد تعامل بین رویکردهای سنتی مطالعات محلی و مطالعات منطقه‌ای اسلامی می‌باشد.
بعد از حادثه یازده سپتامبر 2001، این مرکز از اساتید، مدیران و دانشجویان دعوت کرد تا منابع دانشگاهی مطالعات خاورمیانه را مورد بررسی قرار داده و یک سیلابس درسی جدید در این حوزه تألیف نمایند.
برخی دیگر از فعالیت های این مرکز عبارتند از: تألیف تقویم رویدادهای محلی خاورمیانه و سایر نقاط جهان اسلام، برنامه های مطالعاتی برای دانشجویان و فارغ‌التحصیلان دانشگاهی در جنبه‌های مختلف مطالعات اسلامی و خاورمیانه، تهیه راهنمای منابع کتابخانه‌ای، راهنمای اساتید مدعو و ...

The Center is part of the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
UNC’s approach represents a fruitful hybrid between traditional area studies approaches and cross-regional Islamic studies.
After the tragedies of September 11, 2001, UNC established a Planning Group to bring together faculty, students, and administrators to review the University’s resources in Middle East Studies and to chart a course for future development.

✅ بزرگترین گردهمایی مسلمانان آمریکا در پایتخت آمریکا
مرکز اسلامی آمریکای شمالی (ICNA) چهل و چهارمین مجمع سالانه خود را در واشنگتن برگزار نمود که بیش از 24000 نفر در این گردهمایی شرکت کردند و بزرگترین گردهمایی مسلمانان امریکا را رقم زدند.
در این رویداد 150 سخنران با تخصص‌های متفاوت در موضوع «درمان بشریت: درس هایی از اسلام» به سخنرانی پرداختند. علاوه بر این موضوعات دیگری همچون معنویت شخصی، اسلام‌هراسی در آمریکا، وضعیت بد مسلمانان در هند و چین و ... پوشش داده شد.
شرکت‌کنندگان با بیش از 40 زبان و گویش در این برنامه شرکت داشتند و این برنامه از این حیث متنوع‌ترین همایش مسلمانان در آمریکا محسوب می‌شود...

✅ Largest American Muslim Convention at the Capital
The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) held its 44th ICNA-MAS Annual Convention at a new location in Washington D.C. past weekend. More than 24,000 people attended the event at the massive Walter Washington Convention Center, making it the largest American Muslim convention.
A record 150 speakers from various backgrounds and specialties spoke at the event whose theme was “Healing Humanity: Lessons from Islam”. From personal spirituality to homeschooling and college admissions, and from Islamophobia in America to the worsening situation of Muslims in India and China, the Convention covered a very wide range of subjects.
Over 40 languages are spoken by the attendees making this the most diverse Muslim event in the country...
