مدرسه پاییزی دانشگاه لوون با الهام از کتاب اخیر احمد ال شمسی با عنوان: کشف مجدد متون کلاسیک اسلامی: چگونه ویراستاران و فرهنگ چاپی سنت فکری را تغییر دادند (انتشارات دانشگاه پرینستون ، 2020)، تأثیر تغییرات تکنولوژیکی بر منابع اولیه اسلامی و دانش پژوهی را نه فقط در دوران چاپ آن، بلکه تا عصر دیجیتال فعلی بررسی می کند. منظور طراحان این دوره از متون کلاسیک، مهم ترین منابع اولیه ماقبل مدرن است که بر اعتقادات مسلمانان، وظایف و اعمال مذهبی و شیوه های زندگی در مناطق مختلف تأثیر گذاشته و می گذارد.
از مدرسان دعوت شده خواسته می شود تا در مورد مفهوم «متون کلاسیک اسلامی» و چگونگی تولید، شکل دهی، انتقال و تغییر متون اولیه در طول تاریخ کتب اسلامی تفکر و بررسی کنند و به سئوالاتی از این دست بپردازند:
فرهنگ مکتوب چگونه بر گردش و تفسیر متون کلاسیک اسلامی در طول قرون تاثیر گذاشت؟ روند و پیاده سازی فناوری های مختلف دردو قرن اخیر چگونه این فرهنگ مکتوب را در جوامع مسلمان دگرگون کرد؟ وسایل فیزیکی چاپ و ابزارهای دیجیتالی تا چه اندازه بر دریافت و تأثیر این منابع اولیه در جهان اسلام و اروپا تأثیر داشته است؟

مدرسه پردی دانشگاه بوستون و مؤسسه فرهنگ، دین و امور جهانی وابسته به آن اعلام کرده اند که دوره ای را برگزار می کنند که در آن گواهی مطالعات اسلامی برای فارغ التحصیلان دوره صادر می شود. دانشجویانی که دوره کارشناسی را در دانشگاه بوستون طی کرده اند فارغ از این که در چه رشته ای تحصیل کرده اند و یا هر فردی که الزامات مد نظر را داشته باشد، می تواند در این دوره شرکت کند. گفتنی است هیچ دوره آموزشی اضافی مورد نیاز نیست، زیرا در صورت کامل کردن دوره، الزامات برنامه های تحصیلی دانشجویان برآورده می شود. این گواهی، آموخته های انضباطی و حرفه ای دانش آموزان را با آموزش یک برنامه درسی میان رشته ای متمرکز پربار می کند.
این دوره می تواند توسط دانشجویان در برنامه های MAIA، MGP و IR/MBA گذرانده شود. تحصیل همزمان در سایر دوره های مدرسه پردی امکان پذیر است، اما ممکن است از نظر امکانات و تنظیم ساعات دشواری هایی برای دانشجویان پدید آورد.
