πŸͺ™βš‘️ β€” Largest Crypto Heist in History: $6.3 Billion

What is known:

β€” Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has temporarily suspended all deposit and withdrawal operations following a hack and resulting damage of $6.3 billion.

β€” According to Binance, the attacker gained access to a service container after hacking the laptop of a DevOps engineer.

β€” With access to the service container, the hacker was able to send transactions and withdraw funds without authorization. The exchange has not found any evidence of leaked private keys from wallets.

β€” Crypto analysts at TRM Labs claim that the group TraderTraitor, linked to North Korean hackers Lazarus, hacked Binance. The FBI previously accused this group of stealing $1.5 billion from the Bybit exchange in 2025.

β€” Other analysts also point to North Korea. According to their data, the stolen funds were transferred to the same cryptocurrency address as in previous heists.

β€” Following the news of the hack, Bitcoin fell from $80-82k to $76k overnight. Panic also affected other cryptocurrencies.
