MirYousef Younesi, father of Ali Younesi, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on the charge of cooperating with the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK). The Iranian government has not presented any evidence to support this allegation. Ali Younesi, a distinguished student, was arrested in 2020 and subsequently sentenced to 16 years’ on the same charge. Reza Younesi, son of MirYousef Younesi and brother of Ali Younesi, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “My father was not taken to his trial because he refused to wear prison clothes, and Judge Iman Ifshari did not allow the lawyers to defend him during trial. When the lawyers protested the Ministry of Intelligence’s failure to provide any evidence, the judge overruled the objection and issued the verdict based on the report provided by the authorities.”
