Meisam Basir Tavana, brother of Mehran Basir Tavana, who was killed in the nationwide protests of 2022 in Somesara, Gilan province, was arrested on August 6, 2024 in Foman. So far there is no information about his condition or his whereabouts. In January 2024, Mr. Basir Tavana was summoned to the Foman's Prosecutor's Office on the charge of insulting authorities and disturbing the public opinion. He did not respond to the summons in protest. He was then arrested on April 24 by Ministry of Intelligence agents, but he was released a day later. His brother, Mehran Basir Tavna, was shot and killed in Somehsara on November 16, 2022.
