The post-war phase in Iran should not be viewed only through the lens of regional de-escalation and energy security.

While global concerns around the Strait of Hormuz, supply routes, and economic stability are understandable, internal conditions inside Iran must be treated with equal urgency in any negotiation framework.

The continuation of internet shutdowns, political executions, and detentions is not separate from the broader crisis. These measures directly affect state stability, economic resilience, civil society, and the durability of any future agreement.

Since March 17, 2026, at least 28 political detainees have reportedly been executed under the judiciary led by Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, while nationwide internet restrictions continue to isolate the country economically and politically.

The democratic demands of Iranians, from November 2019 to the Woman, Life, Freedom movement and the protests of January 2026, must not disappear under the geopolitical aftermath of the recent conflict.

Restoration of internet access, halting politically driven executions, and releasing political prisoners are not symbolic demands. They are necessary conditions for a more stable future for Iran, the region, and interconnected global economies.
