🇺🇸🇯🇵 On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the atomic bomb "Little Boy" on Hiroshima against Japan, killing at least 90,000 people. Hiroshima lacked priory camps and was among the few Japanese cities that had not suffered the devastating American bombing campaign on Japan. The controversial nuclear attack was necessary after fierce resistance by the Japanese. Tokyo did not want to surrender and the resistance in Okinawa proved that the use of atomic bombs was necessary. However, the United States with Operation Downfall had planned to invade Japan.

General Dynamics Land Systems shows the prototype of the new Abrams X.

General Dynamics has confirmed that the AbramsX will have a reduced weight and a crew reduction from 4 to 3 compared to the Abrams SEPV3 and the adoption of an automatic loading system of the main gun inside an "uninhabited" tower and controlled from inside the hull. The new american Main Battle Tank will probably have a Cummins Advanced Combat Engine with a maximum power of 1500 horsepower but for now it is not confirmed by General Dynamics. The MBT will also have an XM360 120mm cannon, and a Kongsberg Protector RS6 30mm remote weapon station, unmanned operation modes, integrated cameras for 360° viewing and support for artificial intelligence. Abrams X will be equipped with a RWS (Remote Weapon Station) with 30x113mm caliber to engage secondary targets such as UAV/UAS which, as we have seen in the war in Ukraine and in the Nagorno Karabakh war are the main threat to modern tanks.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 According to a new CNN poll in July 2023, 55% of Americans are against new military aid to Ukraine. However, 45% of the population is in favor. 56% of Americans think that war can expand. Among Republicans, 71% do not want to help Ukraine militarily yet. Among Democrats, 62% favour new military aid. We see how 43% of Americans want military support for Ukraine. The rest say the US can help Kiev in other ways.

The USArmy is making 24K artillery shells per month, Army acquisition chief Doug Bush says this morning.

"Soon to get to 28,000 a month with a path to in excess of 80,000 a month over the following year. So that ramp up is really about to kick in."

Initially, the 80,000 shells monthly production was scheduled to be reached in 2028, now is estimated to be reached before the end of 2024.

One of the U.S. Air Force’s XQ-58A Valkyrie drones has recently completed a successful test flight using new AI-based software
The test was conducted at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida on July 25, where the drone demonstrated the ability to carry out aerial combat activities. The USAF did not reveal the operational actions of the Valkyrie during the test. In the future, however, there will be a human operator that will support the drone. The test used a trained algorithm with millions of hours of high-fidelity simulation events. The USAF wants to use these algorithms, trained in a simulated environment, in the real world. The USAF XQ-58A program is separate from the US Navy’s NGAD program, but both are very intertwined when it comes to AI software development.

Russian sources write about an unconfirmed ukrainian military operation that created a bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro and allegedly captured the village of Kozachi Lageri. He also writes that the Ukrainian military broke through the first line of defense, where mainly Russian mobilized troops stood, and that now ukrainian military advanced 800 meters deep.
This claims have not been confirmed by both sides officials.

The brief war ended on 12 August after a series of negotiations. Today, South Ossetia and Abkhazia remain Russian controlled and dependent territories.
