NYC marathon runners stand with Palestine, call out Tata sponsor’s complicity
At the New York City marathon on Sunday, over a thousand runners wore bibs affiliated with the “Drop TCS” Campaign, which called on the marathon to drop its title sponsor, Tata Consultancy Services, a subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Tata Group.
Organisers say the company is complicit in the genocide in Palestine and the Indian military’s actions in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
“We want to run a race and have it not help the reputation of a terrible company that supports Israel's genocide of Palestinians,” said one runner.

Palestinians in Hebron return to homes damaged by Israeli army
Palestinians in Hebron have returned to their homes to find damage and destruction caused by Israeli raids and explosions.
Israeli forces withdrew from the area on Monday after having forced out its residents on October 23 following a shooting at an army checkpoint that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others.
Soldiers destroyed the homes of the two shooters, despite having already shot them dead at the scene. They raided and destroyed other homes whose residents said they have no connection to the incident, collectively punishing people living in the occupied West Bank's largest city.

Supporters reject attacks on Michigan democrat Abdul El-Sayed
Supporters of Abdul El-Sayed came out in force on the eve of the midterm election, fighting back against attacks on the Democratic candidate for Michigan.
“He's not too far to the left for Michigan. Michigan went for Bernie back in 2015 during the primary. Michigan has a lot of people who believe in Abdul El-Sayed's priorities,” said one resident.
El-Sayed’s opponents have waged a ruthless campaign of personal attacks against him, criticising his faith and accusing him of being antisemitic.

These three elections broke the far right | Joe Gill | MEE Opinion
Joe Gill, editor at Middle East Eye, examines how three elections in Brazil, Israel and the United States have dealt major blows to the global far right.
From Flávio Bolsonaro’s defeat in Brazil to Benjamin Netanyahu’s loss of a parliamentary majority in Israel and Donald Trump’s Republican Party suffering a setback in the US midterms, Gill argues that the political momentum behind the global far right has been shaken.
However, he warns that the movement remains a powerful force, particularly in Europe, where rising living costs, political instability and anti-migrant sentiment could fuel further electoral gains.

Are we not allowed to say a genocide began on 7 October, too? | Barry Malone | MEE Opinion
Barry Malone, journalist and commentator, says that Israel’s genocide in Gaza began on 7 October 2023, hours after the Hamas-led attacks, and that Western media coverage of the third anniversary largely ignored Palestinians killed that same day.
He recalls an Israeli strike on Gaza City’s Palestine Tower, captured live by Al Jazeera, and points to attacks on hospitals, ambulances and residential buildings. Among those killed on 7 October, he notes, were 15 members of the Al-Dos family, including seven children. He also cites statements by Israeli leaders that day as evidence of genocidal intent.
Malone argues that Western media outlets devoted extensive coverage to Israeli commemorations while giving little attention to Palestinian victims.

📰 US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the American military carried out a new round of “minor strikes” on Iran’s Qeshm Island, which he claimed “knocked out” Iranian air defence systems.
Iranian state media reported that two blasts were heard in the Suza area of Qeshm Island, which lies in the Strait of Hormuz, the contested waterway which has been disrupted since the US launched its assault on Iran in February.
The Iranian army said in comments carried by state broadcaster IRIB that their air defences downed a US drone over the island.
But Trump told reporters shortly after that the attacks “knocked out” the air defence systems “in about 15 minutes, maybe five”.
Responding to reports of the explosions, US Central Command (Centcom) said that the situation is “relatively calm”.

📹 US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has said that support for Israel is a biblical and moral issue for evangelical Christians, arguing that Christians who follow the Bible cannot reject the belief that God has a special role for Israel.
Speaking on The Anchor Podcast, Huckabee recalled a conversation with Donald Trump in the summer of 2015, when he explained that evangelical support was essential for a Republican presidential victory. He said he told Trump that two issues were “non-negotiable” for evangelical voters: the sanctity of life and Israel. When Trump questioned the importance of Israel, Huckabee explained: “To us, Israel is not a political issue. It is a biblical issue, it is a moral issue.”
