This racist Israeli law should be renamed 'Death Penalty for Palestinians Only'

In this Opinion piece by Ralph Wilde, Professor of International Law at the University of London, he argues that Israel's new "Death Penalty for Terrorists Law" is a flagrant breach of Palestinian rights and fundamental rules of international law.

Wilde states that the law effectively creates a death penalty regime that applies to Palestinians but not Jewish Israelis. He argues that it unlawfully discriminates against Palestinians and could criminalise lawful acts of resistance, violating both the Palestinian right to self-determination and the international prohibition on racial discrimination.

Hunter Biden rejects claims that criticism of Netanyahu is antisemetic

Hunter Biden, the son of former US president Joe Biden, has rejected claims that criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “antisemetic”.

Speaking on The Tucker Carlson Show on Monday, he said: “If it’s antisemitic to point out that Bibi Netanyahu is evil incarnate, then I don’t know what to say to people any more.”

Joe Biden, a self-described Zionist, was one of Israel’s most vocal supporters and was adamant about fulfilling Israel’s military needs with little oversight.

Analysts and critics attributed his stance on the Gaza war as a reason the Democrats lost support in the 2024 presidential election.

‘Childhood shattered’: Israel’s war on Lebanese and Palestinian children

In one instant on the fateful day of 21 September 2025, Aceel Sharara lost her siblings and father when an Israeli drone strike targeted a motorcycle near their car in the town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.

“All the pain in the world passes through my heart every night, but I’ll grow up, not to seek revenge, but to tell the truth. That we were here, that our childhood was shattered, and that justice may be delayed, but it must not die,” the 13-year-old tells MEE.

Almost one year earlier, Hanan and Misk lost their mother after their apartment building in Gaza was targeted in the middle of the night. Both sisters had to undergo painful amputations as a result.

Across fronts, Israel’s genocidal bombing campaigns have left a painful mark on children like no other conflict has.

Naftali Bennett says Netanyahu is ‘symbol’ for Israelis and does not want to see him in jail

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said he does not want to see Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in jail, and that he is “a symbol” for “many Israelis”.

“I have nothing against him. I don't want to see him in prison - let him go home,” he said on Monday during an interview with Israeli news outlet Kikar HaShabbat.

Netanyahu faces corruption charges in Israel, and his trial began in 2020 and has repeatedly been delayed due to his official commitments.

He is the first sitting Israeli prime minister to be charged with a crime, and denies the charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, which could lead to a jail sentence.

Is Mecca pact about Iran deterrence?

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed a trilateral defence agreement stating that an attack on one will be treated as an attack on all three.

The language deliberately echoes NATO’s Article 5.

Earlier today, three people were reportedly killed in a Houthi attack on a small cargo ship in the Red Sea in what would be the first deadly strike by the group on a vessel since the wider war began.

Meanwhile, Turkey and Pakistan fear instability spilling over their frontiers with Iran.

So should we see this pact as a hostile coalition assembling around Iran’s perimeter?

Or the early scaffolding of a regionally generated security order, whose eventual direction is undetermined—and whose biggest consequences may fall outside the Iran file entirely?

Washington Post says Trump flew out of Turkey secretly on a smaller plane

US President Donald Trump secretly left Turkey on a military aircraft last month amid an alleged Iranian assassination threat, The Washington Post reported, citing several sources.

According to an anonymous US official who spoke to the Post, Trump boarded an Air Force One jet in Ankara on 8 July but then moved into a catering container attached to the plane. The container transported him to a smaller C-32A aircraft, which took him to Britain, while the media and some officials were led to believe that Trump was still on the larger jet.

Netanyahu praises Colombia’s support for Israel’s occupation of Golan Heights

"The Israeli flag flies here, and it will continue to fly here, because this is our land.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video praising Colombia's president, Abelardo de la Espriella, for his decision to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.

The Golan Heights is a Syrian territory occupied by Israel since Syria's defeat in the 1967 war against Israel.

Only one other country, the US, recognised Israel's claim of sovereignty over the territory.

The Syrian foreign ministry said on Tuesday that it "categorically rejects and condemns" Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and said that the area "is an inseparable part of [Syrian] territory".

📰 Four US-based rights groups sued the Trump administration on Tuesday for its sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a statement, the American Friends Service Committee, the Center for Constitutional Rights, Human Rights Watch, and the Open Society Institute called the sanctions "blatantly illegal".

They said they are being forced "to curtail a wide range of human rights and legal work in violation of... First and Fifth Amendment rights under the US Constitution and under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act", given that anyone who appears to associate with ICC cases or officials could now face legal repercussions.

Just days after he assumed power in late January 2025, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to sanction the ICC over its investigations into top Israeli officials

📰 A body representing Palestinian citizens of Israel has condemned what it called an “obsessive campaign of incitement” by Israeli ministers against Arab medical staff in recent days.

The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel was referring to comments by Defence Minister Israel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who called for an investigation into allegations that Arab medical workers mistreated wounded Israeli soldiers.

🗞️ “A new dawn has arrived in Britain. Andy Burnham has replaced Keir Starmer as prime minister. The Labour Party has arrested its seemingly irreversible slump, having learned its lessons, and is ready to resume governing, while addressing the concerns of ordinary people. Faith in politics has been restored.

At least, that appears to be the portrait that has been deftly constructed in the first fortnight of the new Burnham premiership…

One of the first things Burnham did in preparation for becoming prime minister was to issue an apology for Labour’s response to Israel’s assault on Gaza. ‘Labour’s initial response to the treatment of Gaza caused huge hurt. We got it wrong and I am sorry for that,’ he said, vowing to do better. He recently doubled down in an interview, saying Labour was too slow to call for a ceasefire"
