Israeli settlers attack Palestinian homes in occupied West Bank
Footage circulating online reportedly shows a group of Israeli settlers attacking, vandalising and attempting to break into Palestinian homes in the village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank.
Taybeh, a Christian village close to Ramallah, has been declared a “closed military zone” by the Israeli military after months of repeated attacks by Israeli settlers.
Violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians has long been a feature in the West Bank, but it has intensified sharply since the war on Gaza began in 2023.
Settlers are now carrying out near-daily attacks on Palestinian villages and communities, which include vandalism, arson, forced displacement, and physical assaults, sometimes involving firearms.

📰 When Anas al-Sharif was killed in Gaza by an Israeli air strike one year ago, the Reuters news agency ran the headline, "Israel kills Al Jazeera journalist it says was Hamas leader".
In 2024, at the height of Israel's genocide in Gaza, Anas had helped Reuters win a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography.
But the outlet chose to remember the 28-year-old within the scope of Israel's unproven narrative about him - as many other news organisations have done to more than 200 Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza since 2023.
As of Wednesday, a new project called The Living Record is looking to rectify that by telling the stories of slain Palestinian journalists through the eyes and experiences of their colleagues on the ground.
The oral history site launched with eulogies for 50 journalists, with dozens more to come later in the year.

Four US-based rights groups sue Trump administration over ICC
Four US-based rights groups sued the Trump administration on Tuesday for its sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a statement, the American Friends Service Committee, the Center for Constitutional Rights, Human Rights Watch, and the Open Society Institute called the sanctions "blatantly illegal".
They said they are being forced "to curtail a wide range of human rights and legal work in violation of... First and Fifth Amendment rights under the US Constitution and under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act", given that anyone who appears to associate with ICC cases or officials could now face legal repercussions.

📰 Marji Mansfield, a 70-year-old grandmother of seven, has been waiting for British counterterrorism police to show up at her door.
Mansfield is among scores of activists, many of them elderly, who are awaiting dawn raids from counterterrorism police after publishing videos of themselves inviting support for the banned direct action group Palestine Action.
Since the government proscribed the organisation in July 2025, over 3,000 people have been arrested under the Terrorism Act for participating in silent vigils in support of Palestine Action.
But in June, after the Court of Appeal quashed a High Court ruling and found the ban to be lawful, Defend Our Juries (DOJ) - the group helming the campaign to reverse the ban - called for an "escalation" in activism.

Saudi Arabia opposed Egypt's inclusion in Mecca agreement, sources say
Saudi Arabia opposed Egypt joining the security pact signed with Turkey and Pakistan last week, despite Ankara's push for Cairo to be included, three Saudi sources familiar with the discussions told Middle East Eye.
One of the sources, a former senior adviser to the Saudi monarchy, said Riyadh did not want Egypt to join the agreement "at least for now".
All three sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the issue, said the Saudi position was driven by a growing frustration with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's government and a belief in Riyadh that Egypt no longer offered the strategic or military value it once did.
The Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, which was signed in the Holy Muslim city of Mecca on Friday, commits Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to regard an armed attack against any one of the three countries as an attack against all three.

📰 “Three of the most important Sunni Muslim states, alarmed by Iran's strategic ascendancy and the turmoil engulfing the region, were finally banding together, the argument went, to establish a military alliance that could eventually become a "Sunni" Islamic version of Nato…
Yet the Nato analogy obscures a more fundamental question: after more than seven decades of overwhelming American military predominance in the Middle East, why does Saudi Arabia believe it needs Turkey and Pakistan to help guarantee its security?
The Mecca Agreement could prove to be less about constructing a new alliance against Iran than about the gradual unravelling of the American-centred security order that has dominated the region since the end of the Second World War”

Israel using 'explicitly genocidal language' against Lebanon's Shia community
Israeli officials and the military are using explicitly genocidal language about about Lebanon's Shia community.'
MEE's Special Correspondent Daniel Hilton speaks to @mathildamall about the real threat the Shia community in Lebanon face over religious affiliations with Iranian-backed resistance group Hezbollah.
He continues to highlight though that the community is left with little choice, and no strong opposition to represent them.

Gaza cancer patients face rising death rate amid Israeli curbs
Gaza cancer patients are dying at two to three times the pace they did before the start of the war, as Israel blocks many from travelling for treatment after destroying the only local specialised facility, Gaza doctors said.
Israel blew up Gaza's specialised cancer hospital last year after saying troops found a tunnel used by Hamas militants running beneath it. That means that an estimated 17,000 Palestinians from Gaza with cancer have no local option for chemotherapy or other advanced therapy.
Few Palestinians can afford to travel for treatment, and those who can face Israeli restrictions. The military imposes strict caps on daily crossings to Egypt, despite a 2025 Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal that requires free movement in and out of the strip.

📰The UK's Charity Commission has issued "regulatory advice" to trustees of the Edgware United Synagogue in London, which hosted a real estate event that promoted properties in illegal Israeli settlements in June, Middle East Eye can reveal.
On 15 June MEE reported that properties in illegal Israeli settlements were advertised at the Great Israeli Real Estate Event.
The event's organisers later admitted properties in Israeli settlements were promoted at the synagogue, saying it happened "by mistake".
The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP), a UK-based legal group, submitted a formal complaint to Britain's charity regulator on 15 June, requesting that it "open an urgent regulatory compliance case into Edgware United Synagogue" in connection to the event on 14 June.
