โWe found a less-than-one-year-old child in his crib beneath the rubble, still holding his milk pacifier in his handโ
Nearly three years after an Israeli bombardment destroyed buildings in Gaza Cityโs al-Yarmouk neighbourhood, Palestinian civil defence teams have recovered the remains of 105 people from beneath the rubble.
Among them was Hiam, whose husband Adham had spent years searching for her remains. Their son, Anas, 17, remains missing.
The recovery operation also brought back memories for survivors who searched for relatives and neighbours in the immediate aftermath of the bombing, often with little equipment.

Today marks three years since the start of Israelโs genocide in Gaza.
At least 74,000 Palestinians - including over 21,500 children - have been killed in Israelโs assault on the besieged enclave, though the death toll is likely to be far higher, with thousands believed to be buried under the rubble.
During this time, Israel has flattened homes, hospitals, schools and entire neighbourhoods in Gaza.
The conflict erupted after the 7 October 2023 attacks, which, according to Israeli officials, killed 1,139 people and saw around 250 people taken captive.

Three years of genocide: What we forgot
In three years of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, at least 74,000 Palestinians have been killed, with 21,000 of them children.
In those years, massacres have been filmed live, tens of thousands have been injured, hospitals were left unable to function, aid has been blocked, and famine was officially declared.
Middle East Eye takes a look at some of the things from the past three years that you may have forgotten.
