🇺🇳🚀🇵🇸The UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has estimated significant contamination of explosive ordnance in the besieged Gaza Strip, even more than in Ukraine. Clearing this ordnance would require a "very significant amount of time" and "hundreds of millions of dollars."

🇺🇳📎The UN Environment Program estimates that currently, there are 39 million tons of debris in Gaza, "which is more than Ukraine," comparing the front lines of both places to highlight the heavy destruction. The Ukrainian front line is 600 miles (965.6 kilometers) long, while Gaza's front line is only 25 miles (40 kilometers) long.

🚫🇷🇺At least 10% of ordnance being fired fails to explode, so that debris is laced with unexploded ordnance (UXO) that – even under ideal conditions – would take 14 years to clear.

💝From bans on bringing in vital equipment, to training local staff to dispose of the lethal weapons – some of which are 2000 lb bombs with a 360-metre-wide killing zone – clearing Gaza of UXO is fraught with challenges.

🔥🌾Furthermore, a look into Gaza’s agricultural sector shows that nearly half of Gaza’s arable land has been damaged as a result of Israel’s bombing campaigns.

👀💵The Interim Damage Assessment records substantial destruction in the agricultural sector, estimated at $629 million, related to the destruction of trees, agricultural holdings, greenhouses, retail establishments and irrigation infrastructure.
