Israeli Jewish settlers mark the anniversary of the Holocaust by performing Talmudic rituals inside the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, occupied Jerusalem, in a provocation of the sentiments of millions of Muslims worldwide.

The Israeli "double-strike" tactic has been linked to the air campaign in Iran, which has reportedly killed at least 1,700 civilians, showing a pattern of harm in densely populated areas.

Similar patterns have been reported in the Gaza Strip, where hospitals and civilian areas were struck during live broadcasts, and journalists and medics were targeted while working in real time.

In Lebanon on March 28, 2026, journalists were hit in a double strike: the first strike targeted a media vehicle, and a second follow-up strike killed journalist Fatima Fattouni along with her brother, cameraman Mohammad, after she had been injured.

Across these cases, initial strikes are often followed by secondary attacks as responders arrive, a tactic known as “double-tap strikes” that increases the risk to civilians and emergency teams.

Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said preliminary assessments estimate damages from US-Israeli strikes on Iran at around $270 billion, stressing the figure is not final and will be reviewed in multiple layers.

Speaking to RIA Novosti, she added that war reparations remain a key issue being pursued by Iran’s negotiating team, including during recent talks in Islamabad.

Twenty-three years ago today in Gaza, British photographer and peace activist Tom Hurndall was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper as he tried to shield Palestinian children from gunfire. Hurndall, who was 22 at the time, later died from his injuries after nine months in a coma.
