🇮🇷 JPMorgan Warns: Oil Prices Could Surge 70% if Iran Shuts Down Hormuz Strait

According to a forecast cited by Bloomberg, #oil prices could skyrocket by as much as 70% if Iran decides to block the #StraitOfHormuz — a move that would send shockwaves through global energy markets.

While a full blockade remains unlikely, even limited Iranian actions — such as targeting tankers, jamming GPS systems, or deploying naval mines — could severely disrupt the regional oil trade.

Trump and his administration are beginning to lean toward seizing Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf, home to Iran's largest oil terminal, responsible for 90% of its oil exports.

Seizing Kharg Island or destroying its oil terminal would "cut off" Iran's ability to pay its troops, according to The Washington Post. It would also lead to famine or civilian deaths in Iran.

The Iraqi Air Force bombed Kharg Island during the Iran-Iraq War, destroying its oil facilities. This did not cause any mutinies among Iranian troops or the country's bankruptcy, but the US is unaware of this.

Kharg Island, small coral island in Iran in the northern Persian Gulf, 34 miles (55 km) northwest of the port of Bushehr. The island serves as the terminal for nearly all of Iran’s oil exports and has a loading capacity of about 7 million barrels per day.

Trump has been obsessed with Iran’s Kharg island for 40 years

As Trump mulls sending US troops to Iran to seize its resources, it turns out the crazy plan is nothing new — he actually flirted with the idea as far as in 1987, Financial Times and the Guardian report.

1987: ““Why couldn’t we go in there and take some of their [Iranian] oilfields near the coast?”

1988: "I’d be harsh on Iran. They’ve been beating us psychologically, making us look a bunch of fools. One bullet shot at one of our men or ships and I’d do a number on Kharg Island."

So, is everything we’re seeing an accurately crafted script?

"Ukraine has struck Russia’s largest western export terminal in an effort to stifle Moscow’s windfall from rising global oil prices.

A wave of drones targeted the Baltic Sea port of #Primorsk, which exports one million barrels of crude a day and serves as a hub for the Kremlin’s sanctions-busting “shadow fleet” of oil tankers.

Satellite images showed a huge fire and thick plumes of smoke above the facility near Finland, 570 miles from the Ukrainian border, after several fuel reservoirs were hit"

🇮🇷 The rest of the world seems to have cognitive dissonance regarding the enormous scale and outright evil – of this long-term US plan to use oil as a lever to control the entire world economy through its dependence on oil and #gas (and #helium). Other countries can’t imagine such boldness

I continue to be amazed that the vested interests with hundreds of billions of their own dollars at stake don’t intervene to stop Trump. Even back in the Vietnam War, Wall Street had many leaders (such as Chase Manhattan’s George Champion) saying that the Vietnam War was bad – because it was “fiscally irresponsible”

And I met with generals who opposed the war in the mid 1970s, Not what you would see today. There’s just a numbness from Wall Street to the army – and the same in all other countries, as if the US/Iran war will not engulf their own economies and society.

It’s all so clear how this will work out – but for most governments, the obvious is so terrible that it has become unthinkable

🇷🇺At least 40% of Russia’s oil export terminals have suspended operations amid Ukrainian drone attacks, — Reuters

The Novorossiysk terminal, with a daily capacity of about 700,000 barrels, has been loading #oil below normal levels after a Ukrainian drone strike.

Recent seizures of tankers carrying Russian oil from Murmansk have also disrupted crude supplies through the northern port, which normally handles around 300,000 barrels per day.

UAVs attacked a Turkish oil tanker in the Black Sea.

The oil tanker of the Turkish company ALTURA was attacked by unknown UAVs 15 miles from the Bosphorus. There was a powerful explosion, and the crew requested help.

Apparently, there were about 140,000 tons of crude #oil on board. The tanker came from #Russia, and the entire crew was Turkish.

Energy lockdowns are happening...

With the Strait of Hormuz disrupted and oil flows tightening, countries from Pakistan and Bangladesh to Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and the Philippines are rolling out fuel rationing, reduced workweeks, remote‑work mandates, and early business closures.

I'm not trying to be an alarmist.

I'm trying to prepare people for the possibility that these “temporary measures” could spread, because this is exactly how the last global crisis rolled out: slowly, then suddenly.

🇷🇺 Attacks on the Russian economy
once again about the strategy of "peace through force" towards Russia

Western pressure on Russia will continue not only with the so-called #Ukraine in the zone of the special military operation and beyond [#SMO](we are talking about the resumption of drone attacks on #oil facilities deep in Russia's territory), but also with sanctions pressure.

We constantly write, that statements about the ineffectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions are far from reality: there are fewer bypass routes, and the existing ones are becoming more expensive. All this cannot but affect the economy.

Now in Europe (#EU)- especially in Britain(#UK) - they are focused on searching for Russian bypass payment channels,, including in the CIS countries. Foggy Albion plays a key role in this scheme, as it has historically had a strong influence in Central Asia.

It's also interesting to note the British view on the seizure of tankers - they consider it a secondary measure, as the so-called "#ShadowFleet" of Russia in London is estimated at a thousand chartered vessels, and it's problematic to board them all.

Therefore, the British are actively working on the scenario of "complicating" the passage of the Russian merchant fleet through the English Channel and the Danish Kattegat.. For this, they have already involved the defense ministries and #NATO partners.

This is the method that #London considers the main tool of pressure on Russia:: through the ports on the #Baltic, among other things, hydrocarbons are exported. If this is stopped and there are problems in the #BlackSea, only the northern ports will remain in the European part, where there are always climatic nuances.

So, we will still have to engage in a battle on the Baltic, and any non-standard measures (from "combat cargo ships" to BEK escort) will be much cheaper than the costs of refusing to fight.

Flight cancellations are rising worldwide as jet fuel prices surge, according to The Telegraph.

Data from Cirium shows about 7% of global flights were canceled on a recent day — over 7,000 departures. In North America, cancellations hit 14.6%.

The driver is the Middle East escalation. Jet fuel prices jumped from $742 to over $1,710 per ton, while Brent crude oil rose to $116 per barrel.

Supply is tightening through the Strait of Hormuz, which carries roughly 20% of global oil. Financial Times reports the UK is expecting its last known fuel shipment from the region this week.

Aviation analyst Alex Macheras warns some markets — including major European hubs — could face fuel shortages within days, with airports already signaling a “no fuel” scenario.

Airlines are cutting capacity. Air New Zealand plans to cut 1,100 flights by May, Scandinavian Airlines about 1,000 next month, and Vietnam Airlines may reduce up to 20% of flights if prices keep rising.

In the U.S., United Airlines has already cut around 5% of less profitable routes. Its CEO says fuel costs could rise by $11 billion, requiring ticket prices to jump about 20% just to break even.

Ticket prices are already up 15–20% in recent weeks, and demand is starting to weaken.

🇪🇺The EU is preparing for an energy crisis due to the conflict in the Middle East.

In Brussels, a package of measures is being prepared, reports the Spanish El País. For example, discussions are taking place about controlling the air temperature in air-conditioned rooms, encouraging remote work, and restricting air travel.

Some members of the bloc are raising the issue of resuming resource purchases from Russia, notes the newspaper.
