The perception of US-Israeli rifts is a deliberately spread one that makes use of an anti-structural analysis of US-imperialist projection & power to give the US plausible deniability in committing war crimes as a form of pressure. For the first time, Iran is dismantling the US upper hand in negotiations and in power projection in real time: successfully nationalizing the Strait of Hormuz, forcing the US to agree to its terms, and establishing deterrence not just over attacks on its territory but now extending towards Lebanon as well.
Alternative media pundits & podcasters alike continue to harp & repeat these notions of the “US-Israel rift,” “Israel dragging the US into wars,” or “Israel controlling the US”: however, yesterday’s attack on Dahiyeh, south of Beirut is one of many examples that directly counter this notion and put into light the real structural nature of the US-Israeli relationship: “Israel” is, like any US proxy power, a disciplinary executive tool of US power projection, removed enough from the US to be able to behave & execute rogue actions as a means of applying imbalanced & brutal pressure, yet within the US’s realm enough to fall lock step with Washington’s overall objectives in the Middle East.
In the context of the Iran-US negotiations, every time a critical negotiating stage is reached amidst an overall balance of the equation that, due to successful resistance, is leaning the balance of power towards Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon (and in spite of all the US attempts to defang these forces of their political & military power via negotiations), the US constantly deploys Israel to execute the classic Trump tactic of brinksmanship as pressure, committing massacres, roguely killing, and overstepping red lines to try to force Iran back into a space of containment that it broke out of on February 28.
So to all the podcast bros who can't shed off their American exceptionalism: “Israel” isn’t “trying to derail” negotiations nor is it acting contrary to the US — it is the executive arm of all-American brutality, coincidently losing its leverage to act to tip the balance of power in favor of the US in the negotiating room as it is failing to do so in the battlefield.
