Since 2022, #israel’s #Unit8200 has been using a #surveillance program, hosted on a customized #Microsoft #Azure #cloud partition, to record and store voice recordings of millions of #Palestinian phone calls each day from Gaza and the West Bank.

The system operates at an enormous scale, capturing up to a million calls per hour and storing about 11,500 terabytes, which equals around 200 million hours of audio by mid-2025. The data has been used to plan airstrikes, carry out detentions, and even engage in the extortion or blackmail of Palestinians.

Simple #voice #dictation application for #Linux. Uses whisper.cpp for offline speech-to-text transcription. No fancy GPUs are required although whisper.cpp is capable of using them if available. You can enable the "advanced privacy" option. Otherwise, AIs can open group messages, see phone numbers, and even retrieve personal information from your phone... even in private chats.
