Apple was granted a patent that uses facial recognition technology with โbody dataโ so cameras can ID people without seeing faces (2024)
Patent No. 12154386 2B, filed in May 2022 and granted on November 26, 2024, describes a system that associates facial recognition with other body characteristics, which might include things like clothing, gait, or gesture, to recognize certain people even if their faces are not visible to the camera.
The system might work by linking a gallery of โbody croppingsโ such as torso, arms or legs with their face biometrics, then comparing the data with a live video feed. It proceeds in a stepped approach, identifying face, then body parts, then, if needed, โphysical characteristicsโ that could include body shape, skin color, or the texture or color of clothing. In June, the U.S. State Department also issued instructions to screen for advocacy for, aid, or support for foreign 'terrorists' and other threats to U.S. national security, as well as 'support for unlawful antisemitic harassment or violence.'
If you prove that you have supported Israel on social media and you didn't support any groups that US labels them as "terrorists" for the last 5 years you will probably be approved.
