🇵🇸🇱🇧 BRICS has issued some of its strongest collective language yet on Palestine and Lebanon in the new New Delhi Declaration.
On Palestine, BRICS explicitly rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and warns against any political or security arrangement that could prejudice their “inalienable rights” or “legitimize or prolong occupation” (Board of Peace).
The bloc reaffirms the Palestinian right to self-determination and the right of return, supports Palestine becoming a full member of the United Nations, and calls for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, encompassing Gaza and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
BRICS also rejects “any attempt at temporary or permanent forced displacement” of Palestinians and any effort to alter Gaza’s territory or demographic composition.
Perhaps most significantly, the declaration states plainly:
“We reiterate that international law and international judicial bodies demand the end of the illegal occupation.”
The declaration condemns starvation as a method of warfare, attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and restrictions on humanitarian assistance. It reiterates support for UNRWA and references the proceedings before the International Court of Justice concerning Israel’s obligations under the Genocide Convention.
On Lebanon, the language is equally direct.
BRICS condemns continued violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and ceasefire arrangements and explicitly calls Israeli troops remaining on Lebanese territory “occupying forces.”
“We call on Israel to respect the terms agreed with the Lebanese government and to withdraw its occupying forces from all of the Lebanese territories, in which they remain.”
BRICS also reiterates its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, backs UNIFIL and condemns attacks against UN peacekeepers and their facilities.
This is significant because it isn’t simply a statement from Russia, Iran, China or another individual member.
This is consensus language adopted by BRICS as a bloc in New Delhi rejecting the forced displacement of Palestinians, demanding an end to the “illegal occupation,” reaffirming Palestinian statehood with East Jerusalem as its capital, and explicitly demanding that Israel withdraw its “occupying forces” from Lebanon.

The Houthi victory in western Yemen has the contours of what, in battlefield terms, can only be described as a military miracle.
In little more than a week, a group that had been pressing against Saudi-backed positions turned a contested front into a sweeping territorial breakthrough, seized the Red Sea port of Mocha, pushed to the approaches of Bab el-Mandeb and established itself on strategically important islands overlooking one of the world's busiest maritime corridors.
What makes the result extraordinary is not simply the territory captured, but the speed at which a collection of Saudi-backed Yemeni formations lost the ability to hold a front they had spent years building.

A Russian drone struck the locomotive of an evacuated passenger train near the Yagodyn–Dorohusk crossing, just 2 km from the Polish border, shortly after another train carrying European dignitaries passed through the same area.
Former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, who was returning from the YES summit in Kiev, confirmed just how close the timing was:
“This wasn’t our train, but the one just minutes after us.”
Boris Johnson, German Chancellor Merz’s security adviser Günter Sautter and numerous other Western officials were also in Kiev for the summit, although there is currently no confirmation Johnson was aboard Bildt’s train.

Mendel has been included in a list of individuals whom the President's Office accuses of spreading disinformation, Russian propaganda, and supporting the aggressive policies of the Russian Federation.
In May, she gave a lengthy interview to Tucker Carlson, where she described Zelensky as one of the main obstacles to peace, claimed that he allegedly uses drugs regularly, and stated that the president was willing to abandon Ukraine's NATO membership and give up Donbas.
Later, Mendel's statements were publicly criticized by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. The ministry's spokesperson, Tikhiy, stated that her comments do not reflect the real situation in #Ukraine and compared her rhetoric to Russian propaganda.
Ironically, just a few years ago, Mendel referred to Zelensky as "the best president in the history of Ukraine."
