Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram DOWN due to technical issue

All three social networks are suffering from outages this morning with irate users taking to Twitter to report their complaints

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are down this afternoon with users around the globe complaining they can't get in.

All three of the social networks - which belong to Facebook - have been having issues since 11am today.

Monitoring website downdetector.co.uk has received thousands of complaints across the UK, Europe and parts of the US.

Hundreds of people have taken to Twitter to report the issues, though as yet there is no official response from the company addressing the problems.

Ecuador says hit by 40 million cyber attacks since Assange arrest 😂😂😂

Ecuador said on Monday it has suffered 40 million cyber attacks on the webpages of public institutions since stripping Wikileaks founder Julian Assange of political asylum.

Patricio Real, Ecuador's deputy minister for information and communication technologies, said the attacks, which began on Thursday, had "principally come from the United States, Brazil, Holland, Germany, Romania, France, Austria and the United Kingdom," as well as from the South American country itself.

They seized him as he prepared to travel from his home in Quito to Japan, claiming that he was attempting to flee the country in the wake of Assange’s arrest. Bini had, in fact, booked the vacation long ago, and had publicly mentioned it on his twitter account before Assange was arrested.

Assange told to stop interrupting witnesses at UK hearing.

LONDON (AP) — A British judge told WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Tuesday that his extradition hearing will proceed without him if he continues to speak from the dock and interrupt witnesses.

Vanessa Baraitser briefly adjourned the hearing at London’s Central Criminal Court after Assange interrupted defense witness Clive Stafford Smith, who was giving evidence. Assange’s outburst couldn’t be heard by journalists following proceedings by video link.
