My protonmail account was blocked with no reason

Coming back to the subject at hand, your account is was disabled because you are the suspect in a case of criminal fraud and theft, and there has been a request to disable your account, to prevent the theft from occurring.
You have been accused of being involved in cryptocurrency theft. As this is a criminal case, it will most likely be heard by the State of Geneva's prosecutor's office. You will of course have the opportunity to present a defense in court, should you wish to reveal your identity in court, and should you prevail, the courts will also mandate the restoration of your account.

ProtonMail: Secret adjustments to the transparency report

ProtonMail is one of the few Internet companies in Switzerland with a transparency report. The transparency that such a report can create is intended to create trust.

Thanks in part to this transparency report, it became known that real-time monitoring is also possible for ProtonMail.

The ProtonMail Transparency Report, however, has the flaw that it has been adapted considerably over the last few weeks in silence and secrecy.

According to the information in the transparency report, the last adjustment was made on 24 April 2019 (“Updated on 24 April 2019”).

But if you compare the versions that the Internet Archive Wayback machine had saved on April 25 and July 26, 2019 (screenshot), you can see several adjustments, among others:

Yes, TikTok Really Is Spying On You For China—New Report

Aa new report from the cyber experts at ProtonMail has called those denials into question. “Beware,” it warns, “the social media giant not only collects troves of personal data on you, but also cooperates with the CCP, extending China’s surveillance and censorship reach beyond its borders.”

💡 👉🏼 How much user data does TikTok collect?

As with just about every social media platform, the answer is: “a lot.” According to its privacy policy, even if you just download and open the app but never create an account, TikTok will collect your:

❗️ IP address

❗️ Browsing history (i.e., the content you viewed on TikTok)

❗️ Mobile carrier

❗️ Location data if you are using a mobile device (including GPS coordinates and WiFi and mobile cell data)

❗️ Info on the device you used to access TikTok (for Android devices, this includes your IMEI number, which is essentially your device’s fingerprint so it can be identified, and potentially your IMSI number, which is used to track users from one phone to another)

‼️ To open an account, you must enter a phone number or email and your date of birth. Once you have created an account, TikTok asks your permission for access to your social media accounts (like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.), your phone’s contact list, and GPS data.

💡 👉🏼 Once you start using the app, TikTok logs details about:

❗️
Every video you upload

❗️ How long you watch videos

❗️ Which videos you like

❗️ Which videos you share

‼️ Any messages you exchange in the app

💡 ‼️ TikTok’s data collection is extreme, even for a social media platform that collects its users’ data to serve them with targeted ads. And TikTok explicitly states in its privacy policy that it shares your browsing data and email address with third parties so that it can serve you with targeted advertising.

ProtonMail, Tutanota among authors of letter urging EU to reconsider encryption rules

Encrypted service providers are urging lawmakers to back away from a controversial plan that critics say would undercut effective data protection measures.

ProtonMail, Threema, Tresorit and Tutanota — all European companies that offer some form of encrypted services — issued a joint statement this week declaring that a resolution the European Council adopted on Dec. 14 is ill-advised. That measure calls for “security through encryption and security despite encryption,” which technologists have interpreted as a threat to end-to-end encryption. In recent months governments around the world, including the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India and Japan, have been reigniting conversations about law enforcement officials’ interest in bypassing encryption, as they have sporadically done for years.

In a letter that will be sent to council members on Thursday, the authors write that the council’s stated goal of endorsing encryption, and the council’s argument that law enforcement authorities must rely on accessing electronic evidence “despite encryption,” contradict one another. The advancement of legislation that forces technology companies to guarantee police investigators a way to intercept user messages, for instance, repeatedly has been scrutinized by technology leaders who argue there is no way to stop such a tool from being abused.

Refutation against privacy watchdog claims about protonmail:

https://serpentsec.1337.cx/i-was-asked-to-review-an-article-from

good read but they actually just ignored a bunch trying to brush them off as 'absurd' (which they might be, but if it's a refutation, they need to be addressed not swept under the rug)

"Umm, ok? I personally don't see a problem if a company “hacks back” when an attacker tries to compromise them. I can confirm that ProtonMail has engaged in practices that involved “hacking back”."

lol defending when they hacked an innocent bystander

ProtonMail Revises Their Lies

https://www.rt.com/news/534130-swiss-protonmail-french-climate/

Encrypted email service ProtonMail has become embroiled in a minor scandal after responding to a legal request to hand over a user's IP address and details of the devices he used to access his mailbox to Swiss police – resulting in the user's arrest.

The police also noticed that the collective communicated via a
ProtonMail email address. They therefore sent a requisition (via EUROPOL) to the Swiss company managing the messaging system in order to find out the identity of the creator of the address. ProtonMail responded to this request by providing the IP address and the fingerprint of the browser used by the collective. It is therefore imperative to go through the tor network (or at least a VPN) when using a ProtonMail mailbox (or another secure mailbox) if you want to guarantee sufficient security.

Back in January this year, the company's homepage stated: "No personal information is required to create your secure email account. By default, we do not keep any IP logs which can be linked to your anonymous email account. Your privacy comes first."

Today that boast has been replaced with a mealy-mouthed version: "
ProtonMail is email that respects privacy and puts people (not advertisers) first. Your data belongs to you, and our encryption ensures that. We also provide an anonymous email gateway."

ProtonMail does not give data to foreign governments; that’s illegal under Article 271 of the Swiss Criminal code.

• They only comply with legally binding orders from Swiss authorities. It is also obligatory for the suspect to be notified that their data was requested which is not the case in most countries.

• Swiss laws generally will not assist prosecutions from countries without fair justice systems.

• The FBI probably need the content of the email which isn't possible as it's e2ee between one protonmail account to another.

ProtonMail Tries To Censor Critics By Going to Domain Registrars 😶
@neo_network | @neo_network_chat

SOURCE

You may remember my report February this year that discussed ProtonMail's encryption and ties to state agencies.

We've now gotten word that
Njal.la (a private domain registrar) was requested by ProtonMail's legal counsel to censor PrivacyWatchdog.io - who was the first to report on ProtonMail's inconsistencies.

Njalla
also mentioned that ProtonMail asked for 'all available information regarding its author'.

Are these actions reflective of a company that values free speech and individual privacy?
