๐ต๐ธ Bakeries go dark in Gaza as Israel cuts off fuel to 2.1 million people | Mondoweiss
As prices soar and essential goods disappear, famine conditions threaten to return to #Gaza following Israel's closure of the border and the suspension of the delivery of fuel and aid.
Bassam Qanna stands outside his bakery, which has been shut down for days now, as more than a thousand people pass by every day asking if thereโs any bread. Each time, he has to tell them the same thing: his cooking gas has run out, and he canโt get more.
His bakery, like many others in #KhanYounis, relies entirely on the #WorldFoodProgram, which provides everything needed to make bread in exchange for a portion of the bakeryโs output โ usually 30 to 50 percent.
