🦠🔬😱 Was #Lyme disease cooked up in a US #bioweapons lab?
Journalist Kris Newby, in her book ‘Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons,’ drew a chilling link between America’s Cold War bioweapons program and the modern Lyme epidemic.
👉 Before the mid-1970s, Lyme disease barely existed, she noted.
Then suddenly—three rare, virulent tick-borne diseases appeared at once in Lyme, Connecticut, in close proximity to the US government’s top bioweapons lab - Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC).
The cluster included:
🔴 Lyme Arthritis (Borrelia spirochete)
🔴 Rickettsia (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever)
🔴 Babesia, a cattle parasite almost never found in humans
According to Newby, a sudden outbreak of novel pathogens near a military lab should have triggered a top-level CDC probe.
Instead, the illness was downplayed, patients dismissed, and the narrative simplified to just a “ tick bite and antibiotics” story that’s failed millions.
