📘 Should God have Greatness in one’s eyes first, or should others besides God become small for him?
After polite prayer has crushed your arrogance in front of God, God’s Greatness and Grandeur enters into your heart and the beautiful shadow of divine Greatness dominates your heart. When God’s Greatness has entered, internal purity, love for God, and knowledge about God will come too. Everything in this world will change for a person. If you see that you have thousands of curtains in front of your eyes but with praying all the curtains are abolished, don’t be surprised. If a person gains insight, this world will not have curtains for him anymore. These things are not surprising.
Do you think God should have Greatness in one’s eyes first, or others besides God should become small for him? It is true that these two are like the two sides of a scale. If one goes up, the other one will come down. But, which one should happen first?
Should this world be small in a person’s eyes first? I mean should someone tell you, “May I be sacrificed for you, don’t be jealous! Don’t get upset! Don’t regret! We live in this world for a short period. I swear to God that sinning is not enjoyable. Don’t think that others are in a better situation than you.” Should we be told these things for this world to become small in our eyes and for us not to be ruined by loving this word? Or, should God become Great in one’s heart first?
We can find the answer to this question in the eloquent words of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (as), when he described pious people, “God becomes Great for them and others besides Him become small in their eyes.” This means that first God becomes Great for them, then this world and others than God become small in their eyes. Therefore, the first step is that you should try to internalize God’s Greatness for yourself. But how? By praying politely.

Apart from the effort that one must put into learning science, which helps in the edification of a person, the information one gains from science also helps to develop a person. For example, the first thing that the sciences such as mathematics, physics, medicine, and others show a person is the complexity and remarkable order of the world. Whoever looks at this order and complexity will be more prepared to accept religion. It is naturally impossible for one not to be influenced by the greatness of the universe!

The Immaculate Imams (as) have said, “Honorable people become polite when respected, but people of a low nature accept to be polite only by force." If you want to know if a person is honorable or not, try to make him polite by behaving generously with him for a while. If this gives positive results, he is an honorable person; otherwise, he is a person of a low nature who should be avoided.

🔻Our problem in religiosity is not a lack of faith; it is our lifestyle!
➖We need a correct lifestyle more than we need awareness, belief, faith and spiritual feelings in order to become religious. Our lifestyle means how we live. Our lifestyle shapes our personality and habits. Our lifestyle shapes our behavior. This is what causes carrying out God's commands to become difficult or easy.
➖Most parts of religion are about how to live. Religion says, “Come and let me regulate your behavior. After that you will be corrected.” You want your child to become religious. What should you do? Should you just read the Qur’an or supplications in front of him?! Is this how a child becomes religious?
➖ With lifestyle, you can make children energetic, hardworking, and such that they are able to wake up easily in the morning. Then if your child has a little bit of faith, he/she will pray too. Almost all young people who do not pray, love God and believe in Him. They are good people too. So what is their problem? Laziness!
➖One of the main pillars of lifestyle is to continually regulate our lives. One who is not in the habit of evaluating his actions in his worldly life will not be watching over his spiritual life either. Imam Baqir (as) said, “One who is lazy in the affairs of this world will be lazier in the affairs related to his Hereafter." (Kafi, vol. 5, p. 84).
➖Why should we evaluate our deeds?
➖We live in a world where everything is regulated and it is impossible to live in it without regulating ourselves.
➖ A human being is a complex being that cannot be deciphered without precise evaluations.
➖ In the end, there will be a Resurrection Day where we will be held accountable. Before being evaluated there, let's evaluate ourselves here. Imam Sajjad (as) used to cry because of Hell at times, and at other times, he would cry because of the evaluation of our deeds on the Day of Judgment.

So if we resist our desires and bad interests, activate our good interests, and taste the enjoyment of good interests, we will live happily, right? No!
🔸One must oppose his or her good desires for better desires! Many religious people have a problem in this area! Imam Husayn (as) loved his son, Ali Akbar, and he had to sacrifice him. And Prophet Ibrahim (as) loved Ismail (as) but he had to sacrifice his Ismail.
🔸This is because the way to test a person’s internal being is to see if he will ignore an interest. One should oppose his or her good desires for better desires! This struggle continues until the last moments of our lives.

📘How can I progress in spiritual wayfaring?
A person may ask, “How can I progress in spiritual wayfaring and become a good person?”
Good people say, “Pray on time. Prayer will correct you.”
They will ask, “How can prayer correct me?”
The answer is, “Whenever they say the Call to Prayer, stop doing whatever you were doing and go pray. Because the time for prayer for each person is in a special situation or condition that God has designed for him before the Call to Prayer. When a person is in that situation, God calls the angels and tells them, ‘Say the Call to Prayer. If this servant of Mine gets up to go pray now, he will become a good person.’”
It is enough if you just leave what you are doing at the time of the Call to Prayer and get up for prayer. This will cause your vices to go away one by one. Don’t say that the Call to Prayer is for everyone. Each person should think that the Call to Prayer is being said for him. The Call to Prayer is a private message, and it has a special meaning for each individual person. Don’t say that God has invited everyone at one time. No, God is inviting each individual person separately.
