It’s good to praise kindness, as long as we show others more kindness than we expect to receive ourselves. It’s good to laud humility, as long as we exercise more humility than we expect to see in others. Honestly, we do not have a good understanding of the concepts of kindness and humility.

Giving thanks is the sweetest form of prayer. How can those who do not practice the sweetest form of prayer, practice prayer that is not so sweet? For instance, if you offer someone something sweet and say, “If you eat this you’ll go to heaven,” and they refuse to, how can you expect them to enduring hardship, or to forfeit their wealth and good name or their very lives to serve God?
