🔻Why does God test us?
🔻Human beings have two kinds of interests: an interest in becoming good and an interest in becoming bad.

👉🏼 Destiny (11)

🔸Why does Almighty God test us? Because we have been created #human beings, who are creatures who can produce added value. Some imagine God wanted to create good, #obedient creatures! The angels had this same idea. When God wanted to create human beings they said, “Will you set in it someone who will cause corruption in it and shed blood while we celebrate Your praise and proclaim Your sanctity?” [Qur’an 2:30] But God wanted to create a being who produces added value and becomes good.

🔸Someone asked #ImamSadiq (as), “Why didn’t God create His servants in such a way that they would all be obedient and monotheists?” He replied, “If God created people obedient, reward and punishment would have been meaningless. God created His servants in a way that they do something themselves to deserve reward or punishment.” [Al-Ihtijaj, Tabarsi, vol. 2, p. 340]

🔸To produce added value, people must have two kinds of #interests: an interest in becoming good and an interest in becoming bad. If you only had one kind of interest, #testing and having a free will was meaningless. You would definitely choose that one interest. If you had two interests, one stronger and one weaker, you would always choose the stronger interest. If you had two equal interests, you couldn’t choose and would be in a dilemma.

🔸God designed our interests very beautifully and wisely. He made one interest stronger and more valuable, but concealed. And the weaker, less valuable interest is manifested. God has created this surprising balance so that people can choose.

🔸When you satisfy your divine, stronger, more valuable interests you truly enjoy more. But these interests are more concealed. If their true value were easily seen, you would go toward them from the beginning like angels. On the other hand, the weaker, less worthy worldly interests, are more easily seen, experienced and appear stronger.

🔸With this design, God has given people the opportunity to make a valuable choice.

🔲 Religion tells us to control our minds ourselves.
🔲 Why do you let an external factor grab your attention?!

👉🏼 #ControllingMyMind (5)

A person who constantly overeats is harming himself and is called an overeater. But people don’t usually use bad terms about a person who constantly uses devices that attract a person’s attention, such as the TV, Internet, etc. Because this still isn’t considered to be bad behavior. But the harm and evil from these is much more than overeating!

Psychologists say, “If a person watches too much TV, he’ll become foolish.” Listening to a story on the radio is much better than watching a TV serial, because it involves more mental activity and your mind won’t become so lazy.

Today, there are different tools to attract people’s #attention, and this is truly an insult to people! It is as if they are saying, “Let me decide what you think about!” Why should an external factor grab your attention?!

The best moments for worshiping are at dawn when you are #alone. In fact, many places in religion refer to “controlling one’s mind,” such as “Dhikr [remembering God].” Dhikr means controlling one’s mind and is the opposite of “Ghiflah [negligence],” which means not being able to control one’s mind due to an inability to focus. Imam Sadiq (as) said, “The root of straying is Ghiflah, and the root of guidance is Dhikr.” [Misbah al-Shari’a, vol. 1, p. 55]

Many think since this world is instantaneous and sweet, it causes us to fall in love with it. But since the Hereafter is a promise for the future and we have not tasted its sweetness yet, we don’t fall in love with it. This is very wrong!

Since this world’s Dhikr is constantly in our mind and we remember it more, we love it. Since we do not remember the Hereafter very much, we do not love it that much.

#ImamSadiq (as) said, “When you love something, do not think about it or remember it very much because this may destroy you.” [Kafi, vol. 6, p. 459] This world being instantaneous does not ruin a person; it is the Dhikr of this world that ruins one. How can you expect the Hereafter, a promise for the future, to cause you to grow without thinking about it and remembering it?!
