At first, they just saw her

As this demure figure

Wrapped in a flowing garment

Covering her from head to toe

For, she quietly stood there

Without trying to impose her presence
 

They thought her mute

Seeing her unmoving lips

Until, she finally spoke

Banishing each ill-thought stereotype

And pretentious, media tropes

That sought to fit her in a box.
