โโ๐ฐ Gig Economy Workers Are Earning Half What They Did Five Years Ago
More people are working for ride-sharing and delivery companies but on average theyโre making less.
On average, drivers who transport people (#Uber or #Lyft) or things (#UberEats or #Postmates) through an app made 53 percent less in 2017 than they did in 2013, according to a new study by the JPMorgan Chase Institute.
The average monthly payments to those who worked for a transportation app in a given month declined to $783 from $1,469. Meanwhile, people working for leasing apps โ #Airbnb, Turo, Parklee and other apps that let you rent assets like your home, car or parking space โ saw their incomes from those platforms rise 69 percent to $1,736 on average.
This is happening as online gig work has become more popular, thanks in large part to the growth in the number transportation jobs.

Ten years ago, on September 23, 2008, the T-Mobile G1 made its debut, marking the birth hour of #Android. More than a year after #Apple had released the first #iPhone, Androidโs debut wasnโt as spectacular and, as opposed to the iPhone, the first Android device still had a physical keyboard. But #Googleโs open approach to building a mobile platform quickly proved to be successful and it took less than three years for Android to become the number 1 platform in the booming smartphone market.

The change in user behavior is a natural one and doesnโt signify the demise of #SocialMedia. The social media activities and purposes are not disappearing, but rather becoming more sophisticated and diverse.
In both US๐บ๐ธ & UK๐ฌ๐ง markets, 61% are comfortable using social media for entertainment. 52% are comfortable using social media to follow news, opinions and current affairs, and 44% are comfortable using it for reviews on brands/products in the future.
These are closely followed by motivations like buying/selling products (43%) and researching product ideas.

The formatโs rise in popularity clearly coincides with a general increase in digital media consumption, specifically on mobile devices. Also, #Podcast is the only format users can consume passively.

But surprisingly, a seemingly retro ad format โ outdoor advertising โ is also having its heyday.
Ads on billboards, buses and at venues like baseball stadiums are expected to see record spending this year. Worldwide ad spend on so-called โout-of-homeโ advertising is expected to reach $38 billion this year, up 3 percent since last year and 35 percent since 2010, according to data from ad measurement company Zenith.

This week, #YouTube announced a new type of in-stream ad format, positioned as a new way for โadvertisers to connect with their audienceโ by allowing viewers to move beyond mere click-through interactions and onto more complex transactions, like downloading an app or buying a movie ticket.
According to Verto data gathered over the past year, men and Millennials spend the most time watching ads on YouTubeโs mobile app.
Men spend an average of 6 minutes per month watching ads on the app, compared to just under 4 minutes per month among women (and an average of just under 5 minutes per month for all users).
Younger #Millennials (18-24) rack up an average of 9 minutes per month watching ads on the YouTube mobile app, which is nearly double the amount of time that older Millennials (25-34) spend with ads on the YouTube app.
