This week’s guest on In Early- The Crypto Podcast 🎙 is a man who himself uses two names: Dr Craig Wright and Satoshi Nakamoto.
Following Episode 8 of this podcast with Nick Smart of Crystal Blockchain Analytics, Craig’s team at nChain reached out to give his side of the story, his views on Bitcoin, his case Tulip Trading and a great deal more.
With a sense of self-criticism from Craig we cover:
🔗 Craig’s understanding of the history of digital money from the 1980s, his own CV, and what he did in the run up to Bitcoin’s release, considering complacency by developers and Silicon Valley in the early years
🔗 His version of the development of Bitcoin, which he notes was predominantly a solo project driven by, amongst other things, his neurodivergence. Reference is made to Thomas Aurora, Adam Back, Hal Finney and Craig’s own uncle in reviewing the Bitcoin White Paper
🔗 What, in Craig’s view, early Bitcoin was, including as a method of making micropayments, with reference to his casino days, to logistics and utilisation of data sets.
🔗 His proposals to sell the idea to BDO and to Microsoft and why that didn’t take off
🔗 Why he says the name Satoshi Nakamoto was used, where it came from and why he decided to announce that he was the Bitcoin founder.
📌 In this clip, I ask Craig why, in his view, there was a need to create the character of Satoshi, and how that character differed from the person himself. His response includes self reflection and a recognition of being too rigid in the past.
