Prior to Guardtime, he served as a Managing Director at Barclays Capital in Tokyo. Guardtime's CTO, Matthew Johnson, joined the company after performing due diligence on it for the US Department of Defense, which was keen to work with the business. The more he got involved with the company over the year 2012/13 the more he was convinced that what Estonia had built was indeed game-changing. A group of young Cuban students, enthusiastic about crypto, created a web service to buy bitcoins from the Caribbean island. The system of exchange for Cuban pesos, called Fusyona, is not automated and must be executed manually. To generate a purchase request, the interested party must send an e-mail detailing the amount of bitcoins desired, the province in which it is located and a telephone number.
The operation is executed through Fusyona's "agents", who must later meet with the buyer in one of the public areas with Internet via wifi. At that moment, the person hands over the cash and the public key of his wallet, and then receives the BTCs. The process culminates when the investor confirms that the transfer has taken place.
CryptoNoticias spoke with "Carlos" one of the creators of the service, who preferred to safeguard his true identity for security. The student revealed that the team consists of 4 people and an investor. When asked about the response they have obtained from Cubans on the purchase of bitcoins, the entrepreneur explained the following:
"In Cuba there is not much information about cryptocurrencies, it is a challenge for us to sell and at the same time explain to Cubans how they work. Even with these drawbacks, we have many interested users and buying bitcoins. We handle a volume of 0.2 BTC (US$ 1,300) on average per week. Now we are looking for advertising alternatives, such as the weekly package, that have a greater reach of the population." Carlos/Cuban Entrepreneur
Carlos assures that in Cuba he is trading with crypto, with some of his clients convinced of making a profit with the operations. The current minimum purchase is 150 Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC), i.e. about 150 US dollars with a 10% fee charge per transaction. In case a user wants to buy a lower amount of bitcoins, his request will be considered as a group until the interested parties reach the established amount.
In relation to these aspects, Carlos explained that "the fee varies from 10%, it is not always fixed in that number. With the feedbacks we have obtained from users, we are negotiating that minimum amount. We simply stop assigning them an agent and carry out the transaction in CUC through magnetic cards, which allows us to lower that minimum level of CUC per transaction.
The group's vision is to become, in the future, Cuba's first crypto exchange house and add other cryptoassets to its offer. "We hope to achieve this by earning a good reputation with our customers and providing good service.
Dual Currency
In Cuba there are 2 official currencies: the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) and the Cuban Peso (CUP). The first began to circulate in 1994, is equivalent to the U.S. dollar and was designed for foreigners to use in the payment of goods or services on the island. The second is known as the national currency, because it is more popular among Cubans. The main difference between the two is that the convertible peso is equivalent to 24 Cuban pesos, which means that 1 Cuban peso is worth 24 times less than its monetary pair.
Although the parity of the convertible peso is tied to the 1:1 dollar, at the time of exchanging 100 dollars, for example, fees and a 10% lien are applied, which means that the person actually gets about 86 CUC. In relation to the service created for the purchase of bitcoins in Cuba, its promoters offer cryptos in exchange for the convertible peso.
At this point, it should be noted that, although the mechanism for buying BTCs has begun to work, there is mediation between the platform and the users. This additional step, which is eliminated by the nature of peer-to-peer operations, obeys the controls that exist on Internet access on the island, where few users have access to the network. The cost per hour to use Cuban public WiFi is 2 dollars, while a Cuban earns, on average, a monthly salary of 20 dollars.
Operations with bitcoins in Cuba began to register in July 2015. Three years ago Fernando Villar, founder of BitcoinCuba.org, received about $20 from Chris Groshong, CEO of the startup CoinStructive,

"The purpose of this article.
Currently, there are three different networks based on Bitcoin; Bitcoin ABC, Bitcoin Core, and Bitcoin SV. Bitcoin represents a much detailed concept than most people would think. In this article, the proper proof is given that states Craig Wright is part and parcel of the initial Satoshi Nakamoto team that invented Bitcoin and also that, Bitcoin primarily exists in main form as Bitcoin SV."

Satoshi Nakamoto and the Tulip Trust
Perhaps you have heard of the name Satoshi Nakamoto. It is the pseudonym of the enigmatic inventor of Bitcoin…
"The nature of Bitcoin is such that once version 0.1 was released, the core design was set in stone for the rest of its lifetime. Because of that, I wanted to design it to support every possible transaction type I could think of. The problem was, each thing required special support code and data fields whether it was used or not, and only covered one special case at a time. It would have been an explosion of special cases. The solution was script, which generalizes the problem so transacting parties can describe their transaction as a predicate that the node network evaluates. The nodes only need to understand the transaction to the extent of evaluating whether the sender's conditions are met."
