I'm the guy who went over the blockchain stuff in Satoshi's first cut of the bitcoin code. Satoshi didn't have a 1MB limit in it. The limit was originally Hal Finney's idea. Both Satoshi and I objected that it wouldn't scale at 1MB. Hal was concerned about a potential DoS attack though, and after discussion, Satoshi agreed. The 1MB limit was there by the time Bitcoin launched. But all 3 of us agreed that 1MB had to be temporary because it would never scale.
Several attempted "abuses" of the blockchain under the 1MB limit have proved Hal right about needing the limit at least for launching purposes. A lot of people wanted to piggyback extraneous information onto the blockchain, and before miners (and the community generally) realized that blockchain space was a valuable resource they would have allowed it. The blockchain would probably be several times as big a download now if that limit hadn't been in place, because it would have a lot of random 1-satoshi transactions that exist only to encode information for altcoins etc.
At this point I don't think random schmoes who would allow just any transaction are getting a lot of blocks. The people who have made a major investment in hashing power are doing the math to figure out which tx are worthwhile to include because block propagation time (and therefore the risk of orphan blocks) is proportional to block size. So at this point I think blockchain bloat as such is no longer likely to a problem, and the 1MB limit is no longer necessary. It has been more-or-less replaced by a profitability limit that motivates people to not waste blockchain bandwidth, and miners are now reliably dropping transactions that don't pay fees."

Are you saying that the original plan was to have no limit at all? What would happen if we were just to remove the limit now, instead of making it bigger?

Let me allow Dr Craig Wright, the individual behind Bitcoin’s pseudonymous founder, Satoshi Nakamoto to explain:
"Bitcoin uses the same algorithms as cryptocurrency, but that doesn’t mean it is a cryptocurrency itself. If you look at eCash which was an actual cryptocurrency, it uses blinding and other features to cryptographically hide something. Cryptography is secret writing. Bitcoin is the exact opposite of that. Bitcoin is, basically, a public ledger. So, it’s designed to be private, but it doesn’t actually encrypt things. You can encrypt data and store it in the blockchain, but the difference is that Bitcoin itself is a set of digital signatures, it’s a chain of evidence, and it’s pretty much everything that systems that aim for anonymous transfer, is not"

Con respecto a los debates infinitos:
Imagina que hay dos personas (A y B), debatiendo sobre cual de dos bicicletas (medio de transporte), es la más rápida, para llegar a un punto dado (objetivo) y cada persona da sus argumentos sobre lo que piensa sobre las bondades de su bici favorita, que si el manillar con tal diseño que la hace mas ergonómica, que si los materiales mas ligeros y resistentes , etc etc etc y mientras discuten cada uno va en su bici por una carretera vacía, y digamos que la persona A le está ganando la discusión a la persona B, de repente se acerca por detrás otro vehículo, con una persona (C), que sin participar en ningún tipo de discusión, simplemente les adelanta, pero con muchísima diferencia y llega al objetivo mucho antes.
La pregunta es la siguiente:
cual sería la persona con quién te sientes identificado:
La persona A, la B o la C?

La anécdota del día:
En agosto del 2013 se me ocurrió hacer un grupo en Facebook con los interesados en Bitcoin, se llama BITCOIN VALENCIA, al comienzo pensaba usarlo para reunir a los interesados del tema en Valencia, despues de un año y con mucho esfuerzo logré reunir a 160 miembros muchos no eran de Valencia, de donde yo quería que fuera la principal comunidad, por eso llevaba ese nombre, en 2014 decidí que había que crecer y que el crecimiento del grupo, no iba a tener nada que ve ver con el nombre, sino con los que querían participar, así que aumentó el número de administradores y colaboradores, y tambien las zonas geográficas de donde procedían sus miembros.
Hoy ese grupo tiene 9.470 miembros en su mayoría procedentes de africa

Hace unos 3 años en 2017 a raíz de la aparición de Bitcoin Cash (BCH), tuve la idea de hacer un grupo nuevo en Facebook con la idea de ver qué sucedía con dicha alternativa, más adelante con la aparición de BSV (Bitcoin Satoshi Vision), y la conversión de los pocos seguidores de BCH en Valencia a BSV, renombre el grupo a BITCOIN SV VALENCIA, (desde hace un año aproximadamente), desde entonces no ha parado de crecer con nuevos miembros procedente en su mayoria de países africanos en su mayoria de Nigeria, alcanzando picos de 100 miembros nuevos en 24 horas. Actualmente éste grupo ha superado en numero de miembros al grupo que se formó en 2013 y hoy ha alcanzado la cifra de 9.500 miembros

Quiero terminar agradeciendo a todos los que de alguna manera han colaborado y colaboran para que éstas comunidades crezcan con la mayor honestidad posible, el futuro lo desconozco, pero estos datos me dan información suficiente como para saber que los más necesitados son los mas participativos y parece que esa participación aumenta.

The latest release of mAPI introduces a number of changes in preparation for further scaling. A feature of particular interest to high volume mAPI users is the ability to more efficiently batch transaction submissions together in one request.
This upgrade also includes numerous improvements and service hardening. These include decoupling mAPI from bitcoind, where possible, so that even when the Bitcoin node is overloaded (during a stress test for example), mAPI will continue functioning smoothly without any hiccups.

Pareciera como si nos vamos acercando cada dia mas a una plataforma de comunicación asociada a la identidad de paymail, la trazabilidad de la blockchain y micropagos, no es una tarea fácil, pero estoy convencido que de entre todas las alternativas que hay por ahí, BSV tiene muy buenas posibilidades.
Primero hay que lograrlo técnica y económicamente y a continuación traer a todas las personas para poder crear un ecosistema robusto, que le pueda hacer frente a los monstruos Facebook,Twitter, Google, etc
La pelea que se presenta no es nada facil, pero me parece que vale la pena, si apreciamos nuestra libertad.
