Libertarian Party NSW (formerly Liberal Democrats) - "It is very foolish for parents to think that they're going to delegate responsibility of their children's safety to the government"

Parents want their kids safe online. Fair enough.

But the under 16 ban isn’t protection. Kids will get around it instantly and parents will think the government has it handled. That false sense of security is dangerous. It also pushes kids onto underground accounts and starts them off breaking the law.

And as John Ruddick warned, this is how it always begins. Safety laws become control laws. Once the government gets a grip on the internet, they don’t let go.

Online safety starts with parents, not politicians.

iyah may - You can oppose hate and still be wary of who gets to decide what speech is forbidden. Both matter.

Artists, journalists, and thinkers have always pushed at the edges. Free expression is how societies evolve, not something to be managed into silence.

The moment ‘you’re not allowed to say that’ becomes normalised, power (not truth) begins to define the limits of our expression.

It’s often framed as ‘safety’ or ‘protection’, while authority decides what qualifies as ‘hate speech’.

Across history, ‘you’re not allowed to say that’ has justified silencing journalists, punishing artists, criminalising protest, and suppressing religious or political minorities.

This isn’t about protecting hate. It’s about protecting the ability to question and challenge. Violence and harassment should never be tolerated, but neither should fear replace free thought.

Later today at 2pm in Canberra the High Court hears the White Australia Party's injunctive relief case, this case is in regards to them being banned as a "prohibited hate group."

This is huge deal and something all of Australia should be showing an interest in.

The government is using new laws to let ministers ban groups they don't like, criminalising membership and support.
No proper court process, just overreaching power.

If they win this round (or the full case later), it could strike down or atleast limit these hate group bans, the ban could potentially be lifted or paused, and it will send a strong message that politicians can't just outlaw political groups.

Whether you agree with the NSN and the White Australia Party or not, this should worry every Australian who values freedom.
Today it's them, tomorrow it could be any nationalist, patriot, or group saying things the government doesn't want to hear.

Free speech and political association aren't just for the powerful ones, they're for everyone, or they're for no one. Bad laws and government overreach set dangerous precedents.

Hoping for a positive outcome that upholds our rights to political freedom.

Watch this one closely, Australia, as I said, you could be next.
