🇺🇸 NO CORPORATE EMPLOYEE SAFE AS ANOTHER WHISTLEBLOWER DIES - #OpenAI whistleblower is found dead in his San Francisco apartment in apparent #suicide.

Suchir #Balaji, 26 (pictured), was an ex-developer of OpenAI, who went public with allegations that the company unethically used data to train its AI platform.

OpenAI uses an enormous amount of #data, including personal data, gathered from the internet to train ChatGPT without permission. The company also created a transcription software, which harvests data from YouTube.

I initially didn't know much about copyright, fair use, etc., but became curious after seeing all the lawsuits filed.

When I tried to understand the issue better, I came to the conclusion that the concept of fair use seems implausible for a lot of AI products, for the reason that they create substitutes with the data they're trained on - Balaji posted on X in October.
