UK to deploy satellite-capture spacecraft

The UK Space Agency announced a £61 million Active Debris Removal program, with ClearSpace as the main contractor. Launch is scheduled for 2029 from Saxa Vord in Scotland.

The craft will use robotic arms and autonomous proximity systems to capture two decommissioned British satellites and deorbit them by 2032. It is designed for refueling and multiple missions.

While presented as orbital cleanup, the dual-use technologies for capturing and moving satellites pose significant risks. This capability could theoretically be used to disable or remove active reconnaissance satellites of rival states, including Russia.

🇸🇦 Saudi-led coalition accuses Houthis of acquiring advanced weapons with the help of unnamed parties, calling on the international community to prevent such technology transfers. Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki bin Saleh al-Maliki stated that the Houthis are the first group to possess a full arsenal of high-precision weapons: ballistic missiles, strike and kamikaze drones, as well as explosive-laden speedboats. The implication is that the coalition cannot stop the Houthi rebels independently.

The Houthis also note the Saud-led coalition acquires ALL of its weapons from the help of unnamed parties.

Lutsk: Attack on Substation "Lutsk-North" accompanied by damage to power lines

One of the jet-powered UAVs struck an overhead transmission line connected to the Lutsk energy node during the same series. The impact severed the wires, causing a definitive emergency failure in the high-voltage network.

Unlike internal substation equipment failures that can sometimes be bypassed via switching schemes, this physical break in the external grid requires direct emergency repair along the route. Restoration is impossible through simple operational switching and necessitates full localization, wire replacement, and insulation testing.

The evening attack thus resulted in confirmed combined damage: destruction of substation equipment and the severing of key transmission lines.

Shepetovka: Repeat strike on locomotive depot

On Oct 15, 2026, at approx. 22:08, a strike drone hit the Shepetovka locomotive depot, returning to target after an earlier attack this week. A large fire broke out immediately, with intense glow and heavy smoke visible over the facility. The exact technological systems damaged remain undetermined.

This night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued to strike at port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, as well as at naval vessels involved in supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

- As a result of the strike, a logistics center "Bloom" in the town of Teplodar, in the Odessa region, was hit. This center was used for storing cargo of military and dual-use purpose, intended for supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

- In addition, a "dry cargo" type vessel was hit at sea while delivering cargo of military purpose to the port of Odessa.
