Back in 1908, the great Russian fabulist Ivan Krylov wrote a fable entitled “Elephant and Pug.” Like all fables, this one has deep meaning. Here is the translation:

Elephant and Pug

Along the streets Big Elephant was led,
To show him off, most likely.
Since Elephants are not a common thing to see
A crowd of gapers followed on his heels.

All of a sudden a Pug springs up in front of them.
And seeing Elephant, it raises up the greatest rumpus,
It lunges, barks and howls
And does its best to pick a quarrel.

"Hey neighbor, stop the fuss,"
A local mutt intones, "You? Deal with Elephant?
Look at you barking yourself hoarse, and he just strolls ahead unbothered, undisturbed,
And doesn't care one bit about your noise."

"Ho ho!" the Pug replies,
"This is exactly what I want,
Since now I can be seen as being real tough
Without much as single blow or bruise.

That way, the other dogs will say:
'To bark at Elephant this Pug
Must be a real mighty mug!'"

Clearly CNN is not familiar with this fable. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have joined the pug by the name of Zelensky in barking at the “elephants” like Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin.

“If there is now a new ceasefire, a new agreement, we must be 100% sure that this will end the war, no matter where that line is. And so I firmly believe that during the cessation of hostilities, we must ensure that Ukraine has the capabilities to deter future aggression from Russia,” said the NATO Secretary General.

Stoltenberg also added that after the ceasefire at the front, Ukraine needs security guarantees.
