▪️ The past week was marked by frequent mentions of the word "nuclear" in the media. Trump decided to resume nuclear weapons testing, Russia informed the whole world about successful tests of the "Burevestnik" and "Poseidon," and the IAEA is recording the cutting off by Russian Armed Forces strikes of the backup substations and power lines from the remaining nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Gradually, the nuclear hysteria, which previously seemed unthinkable, is again being used by politicians to create advantageous negotiating positions. Only by November 2025 has this ceased to be just statements and has taken on the character of practical tests (so far – only Russian nuclear weapon carriers).
▪️ The Russian Armed Forces have seriously engaged in depriving the former Ukrainian SSR of power generating capacities. Machine halls of power plants are being destroyed; relatively rare hypersonic "Kinzhal" missiles were not spared for strikes on them. The enemy is gradually introducing rolling blackouts and supply schedules, trying to increase the remaining capacities. Nevertheless, to achieve a complete blackout, they still have to keep hitting.
▪️ The enemy responds in kind: last night, a UAV attack damaged a tanker and an oil terminal in Tuapse, with reports of a fire. The enemy's targets also remain refineries and oil depots, as well as power plants. While a decision to involve previously contracted reservists for guarding facilities as part of the Territorial Defense Forces is being processed, the bureaucratic wheel must turn. Meanwhile, in the absence of effective military communication between Territorial Defense Forces, in the Krasnodar region where UAV arrivals were noted last night, Telegram was slowed down all week, and the national messenger also worked intermittently. Such political management decisions, including those motivated by non-competitive messenger rivalry, are clearly premature when it comes to organizing air defense work.
▪️ On the front, the main event is the collapse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense in Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk). Months of intense fighting led to the exhaustion of the Ukrainian garrison, which was almost completely cut off from supplies. During the week, a report from the Chief of the General Staff to the Supreme Commander was discussed; the essence of the public discussion boiled down to whether the enemy's encirclement in the city could be called complete or if it was still operational in nature with the entire enemy logistics under fire control. Anticipating the inevitable catastrophe, Zelensky ordered the GUR helicopter assault deployed to the front line, which was destroyed in the first hours after landing. Eleven Ukrainian special forces soldiers died for a headline in the Western press. Attempts by the AFU to counterattack north of Pokrovsk at the base of the salient in Dobropillia were indeed intense: both sides concentrated their largest contingents in this direction. Nevertheless, it became finally clear during the week: Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad will soon inevitably become Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov again.

▪️ Washington continues to expand its influence in the post-Soviet space: last week, the heads of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan arrived at the White House to meet with Trump. Tokayev showered Trump with compliments, while Uzbekistan, forever gifted by Moscow for no reason, committed to investing 35 billion dollars into the US economy over the next three years. This raises questions about the effectiveness of our Foreign Ministry's foreign policy and the “flooding” of local beys with suitcases of money. Additionally, the Trump-friendly Orban secured the lifting of sanctions on Russian hydrocarbons (and immediately committed to buying energy carriers from the US). The US will also fully lift sanctions on the construction of the Paksh-2 nuclear power plant in Hungary under the Rosatom project. However, Westinghouse will also be allowed to participate in the project (although attempts to combine American and Soviet nuclear technologies previously caused failures at the same Zaporozhye NPP even before the war). Vucic, by the way, requested the lifting of sanctions on the Serbian energy company NIS (more than 50% of whose shares belong to Gazprom). Overall, Washington first cut off all possible ties between Russia and Europe, and now “allows” partial restoration, trying to use the return of a small portion of what was lost to incline Moscow towards trade and freezing the SMO. The “suspended” state of possibly halted hostilities, according to the American leadership’s plan, will for many years hinder Russia’s work with the EU economy, while American companies will resell our energy carriers back to Europe. The plan is obvious, but it is facilitated not so much by the exhausted economy of our country (signs of which are rising taxes and increased control over their collection), but by the joyful tweets of senior bourgeois representatives about upcoming “megaprojects” with the US.
▪️ Ukraine in this scenario continues to appear only as anti-Russia, whose remnants will be populated by a maximally nazified and militarized contingent, diluted with migrants from the poorest countries. The remnants of the former Ukrainian SSR will be armed and must be ready to erupt into a new war at any moment if Washington deems it economically feasible. Militaristic sentiments are already supported by the EU countries’ preparations for war (those who failed to reach an agreement with Trump, while others, like Hungary which pledged allegiance, are already receiving economic “perks”).
▪️ Ukraine itself was brought to decommunization this week by long-range strikes of the Russian Armed Forces: thermal power plants were put out of operation, in large cities there were not only prolonged power outages but also substations finally went haywire from overloads in attempts to restore power supply, with colossal voltage surges (“who doesn’t jump is a Moskal. Sorry, couldn’t resist”). Nevertheless, there are still state district power plants, and most importantly – nuclear power plants, which, although not advisable to hit directly, can quite possibly be disconnected by strikes on the outgoing power lines and substations, after which Soviet automation will safely shut down the reactors. Currently, the remaining nuclear power plants in Ukraine generate up to 50 percent of capacity, and these remnants primarily supply military headquarters and factories. Meanwhile, the AFU respond as strongly as their available weapons allow: under strikes by “Luch” in the Belgorod region, substations in Rylsk in Kursk, the fight against Kiev’s drones trying to disable power plants in Crimea continues.

▪️ A general battle is underway in Donbass: Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) and Mirnograd (Dimitrov) are almost encircled, all roads are under fire control, both sides have concentrated their largest forces precisely on this section of the front. The question of the collapse of the AFU defense here is only a matter of time, despite the enemy's fierce counterattacks in the Dobropolye salient area. The enemy has begun building defenses further west, near Grishino, where FAB bombs are constantly falling. After completing the ongoing heavy battles, the Russian army will have the opportunity to shorten the front line and throw the freed forces at capturing the agglomeration from Konstantinovka to Slavyansk. In other parts of the front, there is a significant battle for Kupyansk and further south, where it is far too early to rush with victory reports. The Russian army is breaking through to Liman, fighting on the eastern outskirts of Konstantinovka. The "Vostok" group is actively advancing westward, developing success in the east of Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions. The Zaporozhye front in the area of Primorsk, Stepnogorsk, and Malaya Tokmachka has stalled for now, despite losses and high intensity of fighting.
▪️ Inside the country, the informational lawlessness of ultrapatriots and witnesses of the sect "everything is available at the front" has stumbled foolishly over the deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate Alaudinov; an investigation has been launched into who paid whom for information projects that incite hatred within the country. A total purge cannot happen, but a couple of demonstrative cases are quite possible. The result of this sect's work was the collapse of popular fundraising for the front (including among the sect itself) and a growing distrust of volunteers of any kind.
▪️ In the MoD, Belousov continues to bring order, Alexander Sanchik, who previously headed the Southern Military District, has been appointed deputy minister "for logistics." There is high hope for further clearing of the entrenched Augean stables, but the main thing is to eliminate the bureaucratic ossification of the Russian Army's logistics services. It is tiring (from the perspective of work organization) to see in the fourth year of the war requests in communication bots for combat units for drones, wheels for KamAZ trucks, screws, and entrenching tools. So the main thing is that the new deputy minister of logistics manages to establish supply to the frontline units.
▪️ Thus, a situation is forming at the front where the efforts of the Russian Army may produce a cumulative effect. The expected capture of Pokrovsk is associated with further plans to liberate cities in the DPR, and will also deliver another blow on the international stage to Zelensky's media image. After this, another round of talk about peace negotiations is likely, from which no immediate results should be expected. The war benefits the Western arms lobby, and the EU countries have not yet fully submitted to Washington. By the way, this EU is openly preparing for war on the eastern front, not forgetting to skim off finances (just in Poland this week, a program to voluntarily train 400,000 people in the military is being launched, a lot of money will be allocated, but how many actually come is voluntary). The only thing more profitable for these arms corporations could be a direct military confrontation between the EU and Russia.

▪️ The coercion of the Kiev regime to peace by Americans
▪️ These long-term plans for the swift cessation of hostilities in the interests of the US are conditioned by the successes (and only by them) of the Russian Army on the front and serious problems of the AFU with manpower. Another Western agent, Kiev mayor Klitschko, has already floated through Western media the question of lowering the mobilization age to 22 (currently 25). An additional incentive to enter negotiations on Russia’s terms is the already visible destruction of part of Ukrainian energy. On the other hand, many sources believe that the suffering of the civilian population without electricity does not indicate a complete shutdown of the remnants of Ukrainian industry, including military. The lion’s share of electricity generation in the former Ukrainian SSR comes from nuclear power plants

▪️ Fighting continues on the front in Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) and Mirnograd (Dimitrov). The cities are practically surrounded, and the remaining narrow corridor is under fire control by the Russian Armed Forces. Fierce attacks by the AFU to the north cannot change the situation. There is also a battle for Kupyansk, where the enemy is trying to unblock its garrison and counterattacks from the Nechvolodovka side, involving its special forces as well. The Northern Group of Forces has achieved success on the Kharkov direction, capturing Synelnykove from Volchansk and expanding control zones in other directions. However, this does not solve the task of creating a “buffer zone” near the same Belgorod region: strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on civilian targets occur daily. The Western Group of Forces on the Krasnolymansk direction is trying to encircle the city from the north and east, achieving tactical successes. Fighting is ongoing on the Seversky direction, where progress is still being made. Significant results in the east of the Zaporozhye region are being achieved by the Eastern Group of Forces. Far Eastern warriors have taken another important fortified area in villages; in the Ukrainian segment there is an outcry about obvious threats to Guliaipole, where the enemy is heavily entrenched. On the Zaporozhye front, paratroopers have managed to advance in Prymorske and Stepnohirsk after heavy fighting.
✨ Thus, the tactic of “war of attrition” overall, although obviously affecting our economy, is clearly worse for the enemy due to the difference in scale. Meanwhile, behind the backs of the Kiev Nazis, as Trump’s friend Orban emphasized, there are 400 million people in the EU and the production capacities of the military industry, which are recovering at the expense of the welfare of European citizens. “If you add up the military potential of the 27 European Union countries, they are much stronger than the Russians,” Orban said among other things. And it is this thought of his that should bring to the memory of Russia’s military leadership the phrase “para bellum”.

▪️ This week it became clear what the prolonged negotiations between Moscow and Washington were really about: not just about the former Ukrainian SSR. After years of attempts by the US to break Russia through war and sanctions, Trump decided to make a deal, a clear sign of which was the new US National Security Strategy, in which our country is no longer portrayed as a “direct and obvious threat,” but as a potential partner with whom it is reasonable to negotiate and trade. At the same time, this doctrinal document shatters Kyiv’s hopes of joining NATO, since Washington is now against the Alliance’s expansion, apparently due to the high cost of maintaining free riders at the expense of the American budget. Trump thus wants to focus on confrontation with China, as in Europe the goal of redistributing spheres of influence by American corporatists has already been achieved: the smoldering conflict and militarization of Europe will ensure arms lobby orders for a long time.
▪️ At the same time, regarding the Ukrainian issue itself, Trump now supposedly does not set any deadlines for Moscow: the more damage is inflicted on Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine during exhausting battles and strikes, like last night in Kremenchuk and again in Fastov, the more likely Kiev is to reach a deal that meets US interests.
▪️ Europe, whose leadership has shifted from grooming a compliant population with a “green” environmental agenda to frenzied militarization, does not share Washington’s interests, which again plays in Trump’s favor. The confrontation with Russia in the future will be carried out at the expense of the EU, and European armies will purchase weapons and equipment from the US.
▪️The situation on the front is not favorable for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Over the past week, the Russian Army has strengthened its positions in the Krasnoarmeysk-Dimitrov (Pokrovsk-Mirnograd) area, expanded its control zone in Severesk, stormed the outskirts of Guliaipole, and fought in settlements neighboring the liberated Volchansk. The enemy is offering organized fierce resistance. The shortage of personnel is compensated by drone strikes: the line of contact as such is absent on most sections of the front; it has turned into a wide strip of a conditional "gray zone" controlled by UAVs on both sides, where small assault groups operate. For example, in the Sumy direction, our Northern Group of Forces constantly destroys enemy infantry groups concentrated for advancement, and in the Primorsky (Zaporozhye front), the 7th Guards Airborne Division (glider) destroys elite enemy special units with drones, confirming the common saying that the means of destruction do not care which special forces you belong to.
▪️ Frontline regions are under constant enemy strikes. The atrocities of Nazi drone operators in the Belgorod region are most prominently featured in the information space, although on the Bryansk section, the AFU has for many months set up training points for their drone operators and artillerymen, constantly striking our positions and civilian objects. A problematic issue in the Belgorod region remains the disabling of energy infrastructure; the situation is being addressed by supplying generators and electricity from other regions.

▪️ Strikes on the enemy's rear continued this week to take out the enemy's generating capacities, but a complete blackout still requires disabling the outgoing communications from the remaining nuclear power plants in Ukraine. The enemy's strikes on our "oil sector" are now carried out not only on our territory but also continued earlier this week in the Black Sea within Turkey's Exclusive Economic Zone. Outrageous cases of maritime terrorism drew the attention of the Supreme Commander, who reserved for Moscow the right to break port facilities and destroy foreign vessels heading to Ukraine. An indirect phrase about depriving Ukraine of access to the sea left hope for plans to liberate Odessa, but objectively, this requires at least forcing the Dnieper (which is extremely difficult and involves great risks) and restoring the Black Sea Fleet to a proper state, which has not shown itself very effectively at sea.
▪️ The Americans' peaceful track is in no way related to the actions of their European minions. Poland continues to purchase hundreds of units of armored vehicles, France and Germany are taking systematic measures of state regulation to increase the number of troops in their armies, Berlin is beginning the deployment of the Israeli missile defense system Arrow-3, and the pace of preparing Europe's fuel infrastructure for military purposes is not slowing down.
✨ Thus, the situation on the front line suits both Moscow and Washington. The war of attrition continues, which not only encourages Kiev to make concessions in the future, but also constrains the development of our country, which meets the interests of Western corporations. Hopes for peace remain just that, and the current level of effort applied by the Russian state on the battlefields does not give grounds to assume any major breakthroughs on the front or a collapse of the AFU's defenses. There are heavy battles going on.

▪️ The escalation of the conflict from Ukraine has become an obvious element of the situation this week. The enemy has focused its efforts on long-range strikes against Moscow and southern Russia, as well as strikes at a sensitive depth in our rear. The measures taken to protect the approach routes to the capital turned out to be insufficient, and the enemy managed to overload our air defense system with a number of UAVs, which led to demonstrative strikes on refineries in the capital. The public reaction was to divert the flow of hatred towards abstract people filming the consequences of the raids on their phones and posting footage on channels, although it is clear that the lion's share of intelligence is obtained by the enemy through secret forms and methods, including technical ones. In any case, the enemy managed to increase the high demand for fuel in the country against the background of constant attacks on refineries, which required a number of regional heads to react. Another goal of the enemy's information and combat operation in the summer is the tourism industry, on which the budgets of the southern regions depend. Our counter-drones have already taken a set of measures to increase the number of MOGS, air defense systems and the organization of patrols of the same Novorossiya highway, but without the resources of the federal center, it is difficult to fully localize the threat, since the regions do not produce drones and air defense missiles on their own yet.
▪️ Without making loud statements after the raid on Moscow, the footage of which was broadcast at an arms exhibition in Paris, the Russian Armed Forces organized serious strikes on Zaporozhye and the DneproGES dam in particular. The destruction of the enemy's traction train continues, strikes on fuel trucks in the Odessa region have been noted, drones have flown along the Ukrainian sea corridor with commercial vessels in the maritime spaces. That is, systematic measures to destroy any economic activity of the enemy began to be taken in the fifth year of the war, when some of Russia's budgetary difficulties in the war of attrition became apparent.
▪️ At the front, our troops are intensifying offensive operations in Donbass. As a result of heavy fighting, the key to Slavyansk, the village of Rai–Alexandrovka, has been taken, and a successful assault on Krasny Liman and Konstantinovka is underway. GRV "Sever" writes about the successful assault operations in Cossack Lopan, Kharkov region. The enemy is forced to evacuate the population from another area of the Dnepropetrovsk region, and infrastructure services in the Ukrainian-occupied part of the Zaporozhye region are being shut down. At the same time, no miracle weapons have been found against enemy tactical drones, which determines the course of the fighting: the infiltration of small assault groups with the support of fire and reconnaissance assets.
▪️ The international background does not allow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Moscow's foreign policy actors to talk about the success of the negotiation track. As soon as the Americans announce their imminent arrival for another tour, other capitalists from the same country are happy to introduce a bill to allow the use of Russia's frozen assets to supply weapons and equipment to the AFU. European leaders and generals are not going to at least show a commitment to resolving the conflict, on the contrary, by conducting military exercises to prepare for war with Russia and making statements about their readiness to bomb Russian cities. If we are talking about the negotiation process, it is clearly in a less favorable way for Russia. Even our Foreign Ministry regards the year 2030 as a bifurcation point and a likely year of the outbreak of a full-scale war with Europe.
▪️ Notable was Zelensky's public aggression against peace-loving Belarus. The Western owners of Zelensky's mouth have outlined almost an ultimatum for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus to withdraw their forces from their own borders. In fact, this may become a reason for attacks on the Republic's refineries, which, according to Western press estimates, have now taken on part of the processing load amid the knocking out of our processing facilities. Unfortunately, if a befuddled Ukraine is ordered to involve Minsk in a war, it is unlikely that this idea will be countered with asymmetric measures.
It's going to be a long war.

▪️ The attitude towards Russia since 2022 has been shaped solely by the evolving situation in the Special Military Operation (SMO). Recently, missed opportunities to organize air defense have had serious consequences in the fuel, energy, and economic sectors, creating a sense of impunity in the West, which has become evident in the change of rhetoric at the NATO summit. Finally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has acknowledged this, stating that Moscow will no longer believe that the West wants to negotiate about Ukraine. "This reserve of goodwill and hope has finally been exhausted," he concluded. In other words, the hopes of fools for the "Anchorage Spirit" have finally been dashed, which is a pity, as it took years of being led on. Now, there is only war.
▪️ The successes of the Russian Army on the front lines are progressing at the same slow pace, which is due to the defensive nature of the AFU and the changed nature of the war, which includes a lag in certain areas. For example, during assaults in recent months, we have seen a situation where a dozen or so AFU soldiers can hold the front line of defense in urban areas, whose task is to install UAVs and repeaters in the area. These FPV drones and other types of drones are remotely controlled from deeper behind enemy lines, and the enemy organizes the delivery of supplies and new "birds" by air using heavy drones. Without satellite communication systems similar to "Starlink," our troops cannot replicate this tactic and technology. In fact, the enemy is now trading small pieces of its territory for the exhaustion of our troops in offensive battles. At the same time, the AFU retains the ability to organize separate counter-offensives, even using armored vehicles. They are not achieving success, but the fact is significant: the enemy has enough manpower and equipment, despite the disinformation campaign involving the recruitment of conscripts and the public counting of Ukrainian deserters by the Ukrainian side itself.
▪️Strikes by both sides are devastating for both countries. However, it seems that the Russian Armed Forces have only recently been given permission to strike, when the scale of the consequences of AFU drone attacks became apparent, which were previously characterized as "mosquito bites." Only these bites have led to a number of crises in the western and other parts of the country. Much has been missed, and now the President has become involved in cleaning up this bureaucratic mess of lies and pretense. However, systemic errors will not allow these shortcomings to be eliminated in a couple of weeks: oil refineries and power substations cannot be built in 7 days, so the use of reserves from the federal center to stabilize the situation is very timely.
▪️ It is important to note the information and combat operation against Russia in the south: this week was characterized by the daily destruction of capitalist tankers with rare retaliatory fire from fire groups, which led to a logical result. In addition to questions about the fleet, which is unable, due to rigidity and bureaucracy, to stand up to small machine guns and technically unadopted means to protect the internal Sea of Azov of Russia, there are questions about the organization of air defense in the new territories. These are already being addressed by the military leadership of the defense ministry with the involvement of the most technologically advanced units, but the time lost in preparation and scaling up is gone. We must wait and help the Russian Army. On the other hand, the flight of enemy strike assets to the Omsk oil refinery illustrates the situation itself, leaving the West with an unvoiced question, whether Russia is capable of intercepting similar targets, but with a nuclear warhead.
▪️ The prospects for the development of the situation are linked to decisive measures to eliminate the causes and conditions of the current situation. Nevertheless, there is no news of the resignations of military leaders, including those who have been sending "beautiful reports" to the center for years, but the very fact of such resignations in the future will not immediately change the situation: their deputies and the subsequent bench of reserves were formed by them. It remains to acknowledge the obvious objective shortcomings and strengthen defense, in which, however, the war cannot be won and the attacks cannot be stopped. That is, the question of correcting the situation lies in the plane of defeating the enemy on its territory by all available long-range means, destroying potential assets of its Western patrons, and turning Ukraine into a scorched desert that is not attractive for investment and cannot play the role of a battering ram against Russia. Otherwise, the situation may seem favorable to other European armies to accelerate their plans, which were previously dated to 2030. The war will be long.

▪️ The past week has been characterized by a shift in the enemy's priorities, with attacks increasingly targeting logistical centers, such as those belonging to Wildberries. This aims to exacerbate the challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses, disrupt another aspect of the country's life, and demonstrate to the international community the results of using drones acquired from the West.
Against the backdrop of a fuel crisis, logistical problems in the Donbas region, and now, burning warehouses, the media landscape is being used to downplay the successes of the Russian Army on the front lines in the eyes of Western sponsors of Kiev, while the population, largely without fuel for their cars, is largely indifferent to whether or not Konstantinovka is fully captured. The conditions that allowed for a strategy of dividing Russia into a "warring Russia" and a "peaceful Russia" have ended, as even citizens far from the war are beginning to feel the hardships and deprivations of wartime.
▪️In response, the Russian Armed Forces have significantly increased strikes against the enemy's port infrastructure and merchant ships in the Odessa and Nikolaev directions. Successful attacks on ports and ships are being demonstrated twice a day, and the Russian Ministry of Defense's publications have become more readable, indicating a slight shift in editorial policy. These strikes are crucial in terms of discouraging Western capitalists from wanting to lease Ukrainian ports, and thus, potentially reducing the flow of money to Ukraine. However, ships continue to arrive in Odessa, indicating that the measures taken are insufficient. Furthermore, the trend of strikes on Kiev continues. The question remains, why did they engage in self-imposed restrictions in these areas for so long?
▪️The front line continues to advance slowly westward. In the north, the "Sever" group is gradually retaking hundreds of meters and border villages. In Kupyansk, the Russian Armed Forces are repelling enemy attacks in the western part of the city, while also increasing their presence in the urban areas. Actions by the enemy in the Krasny Liman area have been thwarted, and advances are being made in the Konstantinovka direction. Belitskoye has been liberated in the Dobropolye direction. The Zaporozhye front and the Kherson direction remain unchanged. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' strategy of medium-range strikes is a factor, but there is still progress.
▪️The "peace" track, or at least its discussion, has returned to the agenda, coinciding with strikes against Western financial interests in the Odessa direction. Moscow's reaction, indicating a willingness to wait for favorable offers from the eternally deceitful Americans, is not very encouraging and does not add points to the credibility of the speakers.
▪️The European arms lobby, seeing either the effectiveness of drone use by Kiev or our inability to completely destroy them, has invested in the production of this type of weapon. In the future, there will be even more enemy drones, and Europe is moving away from the trend of ultra-expensive military equipment in individual units and is focusing on the drone warfare of the future. In other words, Europe plans to fight Russia using the means that are currently damaging the economy and undermining social stability in our country.

▪️ The week was marked by the ongoing war of long-range drones. The enemy almost every night launches hundreds of aircraft-type UAVs deep into Russian territory. Over the week (approximately from July 25 to 31), Russian air defense forces destroyed more than 5,000 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs (according to the Russian Ministry of Defense - 5103). The targets of the attacks are logistics, fuel infrastructure, and warehouses. This puts pressure on the economy and the population, partially offsetting the successes on the front line in the information space. In response, the Russian Armed Forces are carrying out combined strikes with high-precision weapons and "Geran" drones on military enterprises in Kiev, port infrastructure in the Odessa region, and UAV/missile production facilities.
▪️ On the front lines, a slow but steady advance continues. After capturing Konstantinovka a month ago, the main efforts are focused on developing the success towards Druzhkovka and the southern approaches to the Kramatorsk-Slavyansk agglomeration. Over the past week, Russian forces have taken control of at least 12 settlements, including: Shevchenko, Torskoe, Krasny Kut, Svetloe, Krasnoyarskoye, and Styenki (DPR), Kommunarovka (Dnepropetrovsk region), Novaya Sech, Mogrytsa, and Malaya Slobodka (Sumy region), Yurchynkovo, Verovka, and Olgovka (Kharkov region), Lyubitskoye (Zaporozhye region). The "North," "Center," "South," and "East" groups continue to expand their areas of control. The pace is limited by the density of enemy drones and the need for reliable consolidation, but conditions are being created for further breakthroughs. As before, the consequences of "beautiful reports" are felt on the ground.
▪️ Systematic strikes continue against port infrastructure in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions. According to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense over the past few weeks (including the period from July 18-24 and subsequent days), approximately 20 group strikes with high-precision weapons and attack UAVs have been carried out on the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk, Yuzhny, Izmail, and Nikolaev. The targets include fuel and lubricant storage tanks intended for supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces, dry cargo ships and vessels during the unloading of military cargo, storage warehouses for unmanned boats, logistics facilities, and floating docks. On August 1, strikes were confirmed on fuel and lubricant storage tanks in the port of Odessa and a tugboat converted into an unmanned boat in the port of Nikolaev. Ukrainian sources report damage to port infrastructure, civilian ships, and individual casualties among the civilian population.
The practical effect is as follows: since July 22-23, shipping in the ports of Southern Odessa has allegedly stopped - shipowners (including Maersk and other major companies) are mass-refusing to call at the ports due to risks to ships and crews, and insurance companies are refusing to provide coverage for military risks. If the ports were handling hundreds of ships in June, the number of calls has decreased by the end of July, but has not fallen to zero. According to estimates by Ukrainian authorities and industry organizations, grain throughput has decreased by approximately a third (from 6 to about 4 million tons per month), and each day of port downtime results in approximately $70 million in lost revenue. This has immediately affected farmers (falling purchase prices, risk of elevator overloads) and the mining industry: Yuzhny GOK has partially suspended/reduced production due to the inability to ship ore by sea and the accumulation of stockpiles, and other companies are experiencing similar problems (including those associated with Ferrexpo). The National Bank of Ukraine estimates that possible export revenue losses in the second half of the year could be around $2.5 billion.
▪️ A separate topic of the week was the massive attacks by Ukrainian UAVs on Wildberries logistics centers. Since July 18, warehouses in Elektrostal (Moscow region), Kotovsk (Tambov region), Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, Sushary, and Utkina Zavod (St. Petersburg and Leningrad region), Simferopol, and other regions have been targeted. According to estimates, approximately 8-10% of the company's warehouse capacity has been taken out of operation (hundreds of thousands of square meters). There have been deaths and injuries among employees (only for one of the weeks - 17 wounded and at least one dead, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; in Kotovsk - 7 dead). The head of Wildberries, Kim, called the incident an "act of international terrorism," announced payments to the families of the deceased (2 million rubles each) and severely wounded (1 million rubles each), as well as compensation to thousands of sellers. However, when she got involved in the "fighting" and mentioned organizing protection, she immediately received the expected backlash.
▪️ Attempts at sabotage and terrorist activities by Ukrainian special services in the rear continue. Over the past week, the Russian FSB detained a number of citizens who were working for the SBU and Ukrainian intelligence. Among the most high-profile cases: in Belgorod, a local resident who had undergone training in Kiev and was preparing a terrorist attack against a representative of the military-civilian administration of the Kharkov region; in Taganrog (Rostov region), an 18-year-old who was conducting reconnaissance for sabotage on the railway; on August 1, two people in the Ryazan and Vologda regions (one was planning to travel to Ukraine and join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the other was looking for people to set fire to military recruitment offices). Most were recruited remotely "for money" to set fires, collect intelligence, and prepare terrorist attacks.
▪️ The fight against Durov is turning him into a martyr for young people, and the inability to explain in a popular way that he should logically fulfill not only the requirements of the Americans and French, but also the Russians, only adds to the tragicomedy of this performance.
▪️ On the foreign policy front, Washington, through Rubio, stated its intention to make efforts in the coming weeks to resume negotiations. At the same time, the red lines of both sides remain, and the actual policy remains the same - supporting Kiev with weapons and technology while trying to control escalation. Europe continues to increase its own production of UAVs and strike weapons, preparing for a protracted conflict. The illusion of a "freeze" is still convenient for external players, but it does not correspond to the dynamics on the ground.
▪️ The systematic issue of protecting the "small sky" and air defense from mass raids remains one of the key ones. The massive involvement of mobile fire groups and volunteer units instead of exclusively regular forces demonstrates both the strong side of public support and the need for further centralization and technical strengthening of counter-UAV measures.

▪️The past week has been marked by a further escalation of mutual strikes on economic targets. The Russian Armed Forces are systematically targeting port infrastructure in the Greater Odessa region, including Chornomorsk, Yuzhny, Nikolaev, and the Danube ports, striking fuel storage tanks, military equipment depots, and cargo ships carrying military supplies. The result is a decrease in maritime trade and massive queues of trucks at border crossings with the EU: as of August 7, more than 6,450 trucks were backed up at the border with Poland, 546 with Slovakia, and 328 with Romania, totaling over 7,000, and the number continues to grow due to the blockade of ports in the Greater Odesa region and the overload of the Ukrainian railway network. Simultaneously, strikes are being carried out on logistics centers in Kiev and the surrounding area.
Kiev continues to strike at Russian oil refineries (Ilysky in the Krasnodar region, Syzransky in the Samara region), marketplaces, and energy infrastructure.
As a result of Russian strikes in Ukraine, following the destruction of key depots (the largest Rozetka hub in Brovary was completely destroyed, and "Epicentr" and "Nova Poshta" were damaged), marketplaces have begun to experience mass deliveries of damaged goods, compensation disputes, and supply disruptions.
▪️On the front lines, Russian forces are exerting the main pressure on the Dobropillya and Konstyantynivka fronts. Over the past week, the "North" group has taken control of several settlements in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions: Bilyi Kolodets, Ustynivka, Baksheevka, Anyskyne, and Ivanov, as well as Ryzhevka. The "West" group has established control over Olhovka (Kharkiv region). Units of the "East" group have liberated Lyubitske and Zarychnya in the Zaporizhzhia region.
▪️The Belgorod region continues to be subjected to daily massive attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using drones, artillery, and multiple launch rocket systems. According to the Belgorod region operational headquarters, at least 7 civilians have been killed and over 90 people injured (including children) as a result of the shelling over the past week. Only on August 8, 2 deaths and 24-26 injuries were reported, and on the night of August 9, another 13 people, including two children, were injured in Belgorod itself. Air defense and mobile groups daily shoot down and suppress dozens and hundreds of drones, but the civilian population continues to suffer losses.
▪️The negotiation track has become more active following strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian maritime economic targets. The United States has secured Kiev's agreement not to strike at non-Russian tankers and the infrastructure of the Trans-Caspian Pipeline. Turkey has proposed a moratorium on strikes in the Black Sea after a series of attacks that affected Turkish ships and ships with Turkish crews. Next week, U.S. President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected in Moscow with proposals for resolving the conflict. Contacts are ongoing, and there are proposals for a mutual commitment to refrain from long-range strikes, which could lead to another deception by the West.
▪️Ukrainian drones continue to attempt to isolate Crimea, and reports of civilian casualties are becoming more frequent. The problem of the lack of normal electricity supply to northern cities is being addressed with mobile generator installations, but not quickly enough. The number of Territorial Defense units and volunteer formations is growing, but without a technological breakthrough in air defense, this approach is still extensive.
▪️European countries are openly increasing military spending and capabilities under the banner of "deterring Russia." Germany is implementing the largest military expansion plan since World War II (regular army to 260,000 + reserve to 200,000), forming a brigade in Lithuania, and preparing reservists. Poland is spending record percentages of its GDP on defense and is building the "Eastern Shield," while political statements by the leadership of Poland, proposing to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine, are further drawing EU countries into the prospect of a direct military confrontation with our country. In Denmark, the term of mandatory military service has been increased from 4 to 11 months since August 3, and women are now included in the draft. In Sweden and Croatia, mandatory service has been restored and is being expanded. NATO is conducting large-scale exercises near the Russian border.

▪️A year ago (August 15, 2025), a meeting between Supreme Leader Trump took place in Anchorage. Since then, the conflict in Ukraine has only escalated. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Moscow is ready for negotiations, but only with external involvement, as Kiev is not capable of guaranteeing the fulfillment of any agreements on its own.
Currently, Ukraine's proposal for a partial ceasefire in the Black Sea has been rejected, as it is seen as an attempt to gain a respite.
On the international front, in the Kuril Islands the Supreme Leader stated his readiness to target Western naval vessels in response to piracy against our merchant fleet.
Japan, in turn, reacted sharply to the Russian President's visit to the Russian islands: Prime Minister Sanae Takaiti called the visit "absolutely unacceptable," and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador and presented a protest note. Moscow, for its part, reiterated that the Kuril Islands are Russian territory.
▪️The Russian Armed Forces continue their systematic work on ports in the Greater Odessa region and the Danube terminals. On August 14-15, a fuel depot in the port of Yuzhny, a patrol boat, and a warehouse of military equipment in Odessa, as well as infrastructure in Izmail, were hit. In the first 12 days of August, Ukraine exported approximately 590,000 tons of grain, which is only about 30% of the required volume. Railway deliveries of grain to ports have decreased by 84%. Simultaneously, precision strikes are being carried out on "Ukrzaliznytsia" locomotives: during the week, two thermal locomotives were hit in the Odessa region, one in the morning (a passenger train) and one during the day (a shunting locomotive).
▪️Against this backdrop, Ukraine has almost exhausted its reserves of anti-aircraft missiles (SAMs) for Patriot systems. According to Western media, citing Ukrainian officials, in recent weeks, air defense systems have been unable to use Patriot to intercept ballistic missile strikes due to a lack of ammunition. In a number of massive attacks (including on August 1 and 5), no more than one missile was shot down out of dozens.
▪️Ukraine is responding with strikes on Russian ports (including Novorossiysk), which also disrupts our exports and drives up global grain prices.
▪️A new wave of fuel shortages is being observed in Russia, caused by strikes on oil refineries by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Problems are reported in at least 18 regions (Krasnodar Krai, Orenburg Oblast, Lipetsk Oblast, Kaluga Oblast, Tula Oblast, Tambov Oblast, Primorsky Krai, etc.). Limits of 20-40 liters have been imposed, a "odd-even" system is in place, and the sale of fuel in canisters is prohibited. There are queues and some gas stations are completely out of fuel. Compared to June, the crisis then affected more than two-thirds of the regions, and gasoline production fell by approximately 25%.
▪️On the front lines, the most significant advances are being made in the Druzhkovka direction: our units (33rd Regiment, 150th Motorized Rifle Division) continue their steady advance. The enemy has been practically driven out of Rayskoye ("the gates to Druzhkovka"), and Novo Grigorovka, Novo Nikolaevka, and Petrovka have been captured/cleared. There have been successes in outlying areas of Alexevo-Drushovni. Kazenny Torets has been crossed. There is almost no civilian population left in Druzhkovka, and multi-story buildings are being destroyed with FABs. Fire control has been intensified over the roads leading to Kramatorsk.
At the same time, Ukrainian Armed Forces and their information resources are spreading the narrative of the "liberation" of dozens of settlements in the area of responsibility of the "Vostok" Joint Forces Command. In reality, units of "Vostok" are liberating settlements (Rybalskoye, etc.) and inflicting damage on enemy assault and assault-desant brigades. This is a classic disinformation operation by the enemy, designed to create the illusion of success.
▪️The enemy is increasingly using the tactic of drones flying above 1 km, as well as aerostat-based complexes that fly (Hornet and similar) to significant altitudes. This allows them to save resources on altitude gain, increase range, and avoid the effective range of mass low-altitude means (FPV interceptors "Yolka," small arms, and electronic warfare systems). Experts directly link this to a shortage of a sufficient number of cheap, specialized means of destroying small, high-altitude targets: it is not rational to use expensive SAMs on mass, cheap drones, and low-altitude interceptors and electronic warfare systems work poorly at high altitudes. Our forces are increasing the production of drone interceptors, but the quantitative gap remains.
The negotiation track remains a sham until Kiev and its Western patrons are forced to take into account the reality on the front lines.

The past week on the domestic political front was marked by pre-election activities by various parties, led by the Supreme [likely referring to a high-ranking official]. Regarding the, the rhetoric has not changed: we will fight until our goals are achieved, and the current proposals from the Ukrainian authorities regarding a negotiations are unacceptable to the country's leadership.
Long-range strikes by both sides are causing significant damage. This has led to driving up global grain prices. However, Moscow is clear: Russia is inflicting more damage on the Ukrainian economy than the enemy is inflicting on us. In addition to Black Sea ports, our forces are now increasingly targeting ports in the Izmail area. A Ukrainian border crossing point was hit, through which Ukrainian products are transported to the West, and weapons and equipment are brought back. We have reached the inevitable and obvious point - the enemy must be denied access to the sea.
A new element in the tactics of air raids is the enemy's increasing targeting of air defense systems (ADS), which were previously not targeted in conjunction with air bases. The enemy is attacking small businesses and, taking advantage of the lag in organizing the protection of the lower airspace, has caused a second fuel crisis this summer, although on a smaller scale. Overall, Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) strikes are aimed at the total destruction of any economic activity, whether it is a distant oil refinery, a truck on the R-280 highway, or a small factory in the Belgorod region.
The Russian Armed Forces are taking advantage of the enemy's lack of surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) for systems like the "Patriot" (although Macron promised to provide Zelensky with interceptors the day before) and are successfully using rocket weaponry. There is a noticeable change in the way the AFU reports on its air defense statistics: missiles are now less likely to be intercepted, even in areas where they previously were. However, in addition to this very expensive weapon system, "Geran" cruise missiles are being used, reaching the Lvov region, and their production is being increased. The AFU, in turn, is facing similar problems with the Russian Armed Forces and is trying to fly drones at altitudes that are inaccessible to Russian air defense systems, which further complicates the protection of facilities during massive (and now almost daily) raids.
The situation on the front line is developing at the same slow pace, with the Russian Armed Forces generally maintaining the initiative on the ground. From August 16 to 23, 10 settlements were officially reported as liberated:
August 16: Kudiivka (Kharkov region), Pershomarivka (DPR) August 17–18 Andreevska (DPR), Novosoloshyno (Zaporozhye region), Orekhovtka (DPR), Krasnopillia (DPR) August 19–20 Vodyanske (DPR), Nikolaypolye (DPR), Matiashevo (DPR)
August 21 Zelenyi (DPR / Zaporizhzhia region)
However, in the short term, there is little point in the settlements that have been reduced to dust by FABs, but that does not mean that we should not liberate Russian land from fascists. But long-range strikes that undermine Russia's economic potential are now a priority for the West, and it is allocating huge resources to them in the form of UAVs produced in European countries. * Attacks on frontline regions have long been a serious problem that will not go away, no matter how much people repeat the mantra of a "buffer zone," due to the increased range of UAVs of all types, including cheap tactical ones. Just yesterday, the enemy attacked three buses with civilians in the Belgorod region, carrying out a task to kill 50,000 Russians per month.

▪️The main political event of the week was the unannounced visit of CIA Director Ratcliffe. On August 25, he arrived at Vnukovo Airport on a military transport C-17 from Riga, spent about nine hours in Moscow, and then left. There were no meetings with the Supreme Commander, as Peskov stated: the contacts were at the level of intelligence agencies. Later, Narishkin confirmed a working meeting, while the NYT claimed there was a conversation with the head of the FSB, Bortnikov. Western leaks spread widely with Hollywood-style headlines: "US delivers 'grim assessment' of the war to Putin." In reality, the visit coincided with the peak of mutual rear-area strikes, when Russian strikes on Ukrainian grain exports were already driving up global prices, and Kiev's drones were flying in such numbers that they didn't even need tactical nuclear weapons, as 1600 UAVs (a confirmed anti-record, by the way) were concentrated on a narrow rear area. The gentle courtship from Washington is generally consistent with the principles of the so-called "Anaconda" plan, which was once hyped on television: the US brought a dose of attention to Moscow so that the bloody carnage that is exhausting our country would continue without sharp moves. Fortunately, after the plane with the American left, our forces only intensified strikes on Kiev, ports, and logistics. The enemy capital was also on fire that night.
▪️Thus, the Russian Armed Forces carried out massive and 12 group strikes with high-precision weapons and long-range UAVs over the week. At the port of Yuzhny, a tanker with fuel, five tanks, ten warehouses, and a PS-330 "Adzhalik" substation were hit. In the ports of Odessa and Chornomorsk, 24 military depots were destroyed, and in Reni, facilities for unloading fuel were hit. Near Kiev, the "San-Park" logistics hub (FPV and "Hornet" assembly) and the "Fim Service" facility in Chaika, where components for "Flamingo" cruise missiles were stored, were hit. There were also hits on the Kremenchug oil refinery and the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. Over the week, a Ukrainian Navy patrol boat and eight naval vessels operating in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were hit. After the strike on the ammunition depot, footage of secondary detonations spread around the world.
▪️The enemy's response remains the same: hundreds of UAVs per day. Over the week, 5989 aircraft-type drones and 14 "Flamingo" cruise missiles were shot down. The goal is still to further incite social tensions. For example, the second wave of fuel shortages in Russia has not subsided by the end of August. Foreign media reported more than 20 strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian oil refineries in August, including in Perm, Yaroslavl, Nizhnekamsk, and Kstovo. In some regions, there are again queues and restrictions, especially for AI-95 gasoline, although there are no such problems with diesel fuel. Nevertheless, the protection of critical facilities is poorly organized, although the state has been urging wealthy individuals to form de facto units to protect the airspace since the beginning of the year. Our experts say that this situation depends entirely on the specific governor of the specific region, and where there is a lack of understanding of the real threats and, frankly, basic military knowledge about "protecting" against strike drones, they report (officially) the installation of... construction scaffolding next to the facility. The effectiveness is obvious. Hence the Supreme Commander's decree from last week: facilities can be transferred to temporary management if their owners do not ensure their security. The list of such facilities includes logistics centers, energy, industrial, communications, and housing and utilities facilities.
▪️The Black Sea is becoming a zone of combat operations against merchant fleets. Both sides are attacking, and they are no longer attacking only "shadow fleet" tankers, but everything that travels between the Turkish coast, Novorossiysk, Tuapse, and Greater Odessa. The Ministry of Defense reported for August 22-28 about a Ukrainian Navy patrol boat and eight naval vessels operating in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On August 24, a tanker with fuel and a five-tank depot and the "Adzhalik" substation were hit at the port of Yuzhny. On August 25, a "Geran-4 Siker" drone hit a tanker in Yuzhny and a cargo ship in the port of Odessa, and fires broke out on both. The wording is the same: the ships were carrying weapons, equipment, and fuel. For insurers, there is no difference. After a series of strikes on Odessa, Chornomorsk, Yuzhny, and Reni, loading grain and ore for many routes has become a lottery. Kiev is responding by attacking any ships of any country that approach our shores.
On August 22, near Novorossiysk, enemy drones attacked the Turkish Akkon Lines container ship RMS Team. Also, near the Novorossiysk coast, the ferry Ural was attacked.
On August 26, near Tuapse, three UAVs hit the Turkish Lider Bordo Mavi, which was en route from Samsun.
On August 27, the Lider Kocatepe was hit, which was towing a previously damaged ship.
▪️Russia is systematically destroying port transshipment and ships in the Odessa direction to prevent grain, ore, and military cargo from being transported by sea. Ukraine is mirroring the attacks in the Caucasus, against the KTK, and against everything that connects Russian ports with Turkey.
▪️On the front line, the Chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, announced that the first line of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk fortified area had been breached. However, these statements are intended to have an informational impact on both the domestic and international audience, and despite the real successes of the Russian Armed Forces on the front line and the maintenance of the initiative in most sectors, it is important to recognize the severity of the fighting and the pace of the advance, which does not allow for the prospect of a quick breakthrough of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk-Druzhkovka line and an advance to the operational space towards the Dnieper. There is no such open space where drones do not constrain the actions of both armies on the ground. According to the Ministry of Defense report for August 22-28, Pershe Travnya and Pisarevka in the Sumy region (Northern Operational Zone), Annovka and Kucherov Yar in the DPR ("Center"), Dolynka, Nezhenka, and Shevchenkivske in the Zaporozhye region ("East") came under control. On August 29, Khrapovshchyna in the Sumy region, Rubizhne, and Novoandreevka in the DPR were added. The pace is still slowed down by the extremely high density of enemy drones.
▪️Russia is entering the autumn and the election period in a situation where the enemy has increased the acquisition of drones from European countries and domestic production to such an extent that recent attacks on Kiev and drone assembly sites will not be able to radically affect the situation with the influx of soulless drones into Russia. The belated measures to strike at port infrastructure and the enemy capital are measures that should have been taken since 2022. Now, these strikes should only be increased, because a decrease in pressure on the enemy's economy and military production will lead to an even greater increase in the number of drones per day in our regions. In September, the enemy will increase the number of attacks and test new types of long-range weapons, trying to disable infrastructure before winter.

▪️Russia is delivering precisely the systemic strikes against the enemy's rear that the country has been essentially asking for for several years. There is a clear shift from a pleasant morning announcement to a series of targets: ports, railways, locomotives, border crossings, logistics centers, fuel, metallurgy, data centers, warehouses, and UAV production facilities. It gives the impression not of isolated retaliatory actions, but of a systematic effort to undermine Ukraine's economic and transportation capabilities to continue the war. And also to reduce Ukraine's attractiveness to Western capitalists. Separately, the bombing of Kyiv continues: even individual gas stations are being hit.
Over the past week, strikes have targeted ports in Nikolaev and the Odessa region, Chornomorsk (Ilyichevsk), warehouses and logistics hubs in Kiev and the surrounding area, railway infrastructure, fuel infrastructure, and UAV production and storage facilities. Then, Ukrainian metallurgy was hit hard: "Zaporizhstal," enterprises in Krivoy Rog, "Interpipe Steel," the Northern and Novokrivy Rog iron ore mines.
A new element in the situation has been the targeting of data centers and information storage and processing nodes. This is what has been lacking before: not to view the war as a set of isolated targets, but to strike at the system that allows the front line to receive fuel, metal, electricity, data, ammunition, and imported goods every day.
▪️The front line, despite its previous importance, now has a significantly smaller impact on the course of negotiations and public sentiment than what is happening deep in the rear. This does not mean that kilometers of territory have ceased to matter. Jared Kushner directly acknowledged that the most difficult issue in the negotiations remains territorial and is partly determined by the situation on the battlefield. However, neither side has achieved a decisive operational breakthrough, so another village or outpost no longer creates the same political effect as before.
It is much more important to the public are other things: is the factory working, are the trains running, is there fuel, can the port receive ships, is there electricity, can the enemy strike Russian cities with impunity. It is these events that are now much more quickly translated into public sentiment, economic consequences, and arguments for negotiators. Therefore, a series of Russian strikes on the Ukrainian economy is more important than another report on another square kilometer and another village captured and reduced to dust by FABs. Conversely, Ukrainian strikes on Novorossiysk, Russian oil refineries, industrial sites, warehouses, and logistics centers are aimed at making the Russian population feel the war in their daily lives.
▪️ However, against this backdrop, the latest problems with reports from the front are particularly frustrating. The phrase "It's okay to be wrong, but you can't lie" has become almost a motto during the war. But what is happening in the Krasnolymanska direction again shows that one correct phrase is not enough. Until recently, official information indicated a steady advance in the urban areas of Krasny Lyman, the encirclement of the enemy, the clearing of districts, and the destruction of isolated units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Then, Russian military sources reported something completely different: the enemy had transferred reserves, broke through from the Drobyshevo direction, and advanced in the northern part of the city. But it was not the complex operational-tactical situation (this is war, and anything can happen) that was the indicator, but the reaction of the system to the error. In war, mistakes are made, the enemy is also capable of fighting, conducting counterattacks, and finding weaknesses. The problem arises when, first, a picture of an almost solved task is presented to the top and to the public, and then, after a few days, it turns out that the real situation was different. That is, not a specific report is being disavowed, but the very thesis of "It's okay to be wrong, but you can't lie." If an error is only discovered after a counterattack by the enemy, then the question needs to be asked not of the soldiers in the trenches. And it is even more strange to see the sharp reaction of information censors to the coverage of the situation in the information space.
▪️ Strikes on the Ukrainian rear have indeed become systemic. This is especially noticeable in Chornomorsk and throughout the maritime logistics network. Over the past few weeks, there have been repeated strikes on terminals, warehouses, fuel supplies, and ships. The Russian Ministry of Defense separately reports on the destruction of dry cargo ships and tugboats, which, according to the ministry, are involved in transporting goods for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, the disruption of ports is accompanied by pressure on land logistics. The logic here is correct: if maritime transport is disrupted, cargo is перегружается onto railways and road crossings. This week, large warehouse complexes in Kiev, the Kiev region, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, and other regions have been repeatedly hit. According to the Ukrainian government, the damage to infrastructure from air strikes in 2026 has reached approximately $10 billion, and disruptions to exports and port operations are already affecting GDP.
▪️ A separate new element is strikes on the metallurgical base. The destruction of "Zaporizhstal," metallurgical and mining enterprises in Krivoy Rog, and "Interpipe Steel" takes the military campaign to another level. It is also significant that the Ukrainian and Western capitalists who benefit from these facilities are also affected. Our capitalists, apparently, have abandoned the idea of receiving these facilities intact after the war.
▪️ Ukraine is responding in kind. This week, its UAVs have been targeting Novorossiysk, the Saratov, Volgograd, Tula, and Samara regions, Dagestan, and many other regions. Oil, industrial, and warehouse facilities have been targeted. A logistics center of Ozon was on fire in Saratov. The Ukrainian side has stated that it has struck at Russian oil and gas infrastructure. That is, both sides are now practically officially waging a war of economic rear areas. And there should be no illusions here: the more effective our strikes become, the more persistently the enemy will seek to create similar consequences in Russia. Therefore, the strike campaign is meaningless without accelerated construction of object-specific air defense systems, cheap interceptors, mobile groups, and protection of industry.
On the ground, the Russian Armed Forces are maintaining *the initiative* in a significant part of the front, increasing pressure on the Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, and Zaporozhye directions, and heavy fighting is taking place around Orekhov and in the approaches to Druzhkivka. The modern front line increasingly resembles not a continuous line of trenches. Kilometers of "kill zones" are forming between positions, small groups are entering populated areas, then losing supply lines, and the enemy is sending its groups after them. All of this is constantly monitored by reconnaissance and attack UAVs. Therefore, flags, the appearance of two attack helicopters, or a drone over a roof in themselves are not yet control of the territory. It is important to understand this and when evaluating the enemy's counteractions: no one is talking about the infiltration of Ukrainian Armed Forces motorized infantry divisions in the same Lyman direction.

▪️The negotiation process, meanwhile, has finally separated from the front-line reports. The trips of Witkoff and Kushner first to Moscow and then to Kiev did not lead to an immediate agreement, but restored the American channel between the parties. Now, Kiev is announcing preparations to resume the three-way format of Russia - USA - Ukraine as early as October. That is why the current campaign of strikes potentially has a negotiating dimension. Not because someone will immediately sign an agreement after the destruction of another factory. But because the negotiating position of a state is determined not only by the line on the map, but also by the answer to the question: how much more can it endure in this mode and at what cost?
▪️ Europe understands this perfectly and is accelerating preparations. Germany, after the August incident with drones at the Leipzig/Halle airport, announced preparations for a broad "anti-sabotage shield." It is planned to create rapidly deployable police units to combat drones, expand the powers of critical infrastructure facilities to counter UAVs, and create a national "cyber dome."
Officially, all of this is called protection against sabotage and hybrid threats. Russia denies any involvement in the German incidents. However, this does not change the practical result: Germany is building an internal security system designed to operate in conditions of military confrontation. This is even more evident with Volkswagen. The VW plant in Osnabrück will be the first major German car factory to be transferred to a defense configuration. The first project will be the production of air defense systems and components in cooperation with the Israeli company Rafael. The conversion of cars for military purposes is also being considered.
At the same time, Germany has announced the urgent transfer of additional Patriot missiles from its own stockpiles to Ukraine, and Kiev has reported the formation of a long-term order for approximately 1,000 Patriot missiles with the support of its allies. Most of these missiles will not be produced tomorrow, but the very scale of the order indicates the European planning horizon for the war.

▪️Key Event: The main domestic event of the week is the State Duma elections, taking place against the backdrop of the Special Military Operation (SMO) and, for the first time, including the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye, and Kherson regions. The Central Election Commission has established special procedures for conducting elections under martial law, and some of these provisions also apply to Crimea, Sevastopol, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov regions, and Krasnodar Krai. Regional commissions have the authority to determine the volume of information about polling stations and commission members that is not subject to publication. In military units, separate polling stations may be established; commissions there are formed by the unit commander at the decision of the Territorial Election Commission (TEC), and access for accredited journalists is through a request to the relevant military unit. This is due to security concerns, and the threat is not fabricated.
▪️Foreign Policy: An event occurred that could have a more direct impact on the resource base of the SMO. On September 18, Trump, who has been favorably covered by our media, signed a new sanctions law called the "Hellish Sanctions" against Russia. The sanctions target Russian officials, banks, and ships of the so-called "shadow fleet." However, the most important aspect is that the U.S. President has been granted authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on the largest buyers of Russian oil and gas, although the law includes exceptions and leaves room for maneuver for the White House. Therefore, it is incorrect to say that India, China, or anyone else has already been hit with a 100% tariff. However, this law will force buyers of Russian energy resources to choose between trading with Russia and risking reduced access to the U.S. market. For us, this is a matter of export revenue, which is growing against the backdrop of a new crisis in the Middle East.
▪️Military Operations: The Russian Armed Forces are increasingly trying to target not individual objects, but the entire supply chain of the enemy: production, energy, metallurgy, railways, locomotives, warehouses, ports, border crossings, and transportation hubs. Over the past week, strikes continued in the Odessa direction, targeting port infrastructure, logistics centers, industrial enterprises, and railway facilities.
▪️Enemy Actions: The enemy is targeting Russian oil refining and trying to shift the war into the economic sphere of Russia. And the results cannot be denied; we are reading news about a strike today on the MNPPZ. After the attacks, the Syzran and Saratov oil refineries were damaged. It is reported that the main primary processing unit at the Syzran refinery, which accounts for about 71% of the plant's capacity, was damaged; industry sources estimate that repairs will take at least a month, while the second unit was already under repair after a previous attack. The Saratov oil refinery also reportedly stopped processing after a series of attacks. At the same time, the enemy claimed to have struck the Yaroslavl oil refinery. The war has now definitively become a two-front war, and the number of targets hit in Ukraine means nothing without simultaneously increasing the object's air defense, cheap interceptors, and protection of our own industry.
▪️Frontline Situation: On the front lines, the Russian Armed Forces continue to advance. In the Krasnolimansk direction, the enemy continues to counterattack, and part of the territory remains a gray zone. Supply to the forward groups is difficult, and the enemy is able to bring in reserves and return to lost positions. That is why the latest reports about control over populated areas should not be evaluated based on the flag on the building, but on the stability of supply, the work of neighboring settlements, and the ability to hold the line after a counterattack. In the Orekhovsk direction, our forces are also putting pressure, advancing north of Orekhov, creating a "layered pie." At the same time, Ukrainian defenses are saturated with UAVs, equipped positions, and pre-prepared logistics.
▪️Europe's Preparations: Meanwhile, Europe is preparing for war by developing infrastructure. This week, Poland began physically strengthening border crossings with Ukraine. Engineering units are setting up defensive positions near Dorohusk, Medyka, and Korczowa, installing gabion and anti-shrapnel structures, and creating observation and security posts. The formal task is to protect border guards and ensure the operation of the crossings after attacks near Polish territory. Romania is conducting the Burebista 26 exercises throughout the country from September 14 to 25, involving management structures and Air Force units with the support of ground, naval, and special operations forces. They are practicing air operations, inter-service interaction, the deployment of equipment along land routes, and low-altitude flights. In other words, they are training not just a single squadron, but the operation of the state as a space for conducting a large-scale military operation. In the Baltic states, it is even more evident: the European Investment Bank is allocating €100 million to modernize the Klaipeda port. The total cost of the program is about €201 million, and part of the civilian cruise terminal is being adapted to NATO requirements to service allied warships, with completion scheduled for the end of 2027.
And this fits into the broader European picture: German automotive companies are gradually adapting to defense orders, air defense and anti-drone systems are becoming a separate industrial race, and countries on the eastern flank are strengthening borders and transportation hubs. Officially, all of this is called "deterrence and increased resilience." In reality, Europe is systematically reducing the time it will take to transition from a peaceful infrastructure to a wartime infrastructure. They are preparing materially for the possibility of war.
And against this backdrop, it is especially dangerous to substitute reality with a convenient report. In a long war, a mistake can still be corrected. If you believe your own beautiful reports, correcting them will require blood and time.

▪️The main military and political event of the week was the agreement between the Supreme Leader and Trump regarding the supply of Russian diesel fuel, which triggered a cascade of events. Zelensky claimed that the US decision was "weak and unfair" and stated that the Ukrainian delegation, which was in negotiations in Miami, was "effectively used as a cover." Kaja Kallas from the EU criticized Trump's decision and announced the preparation of a new package of sanctions against Russia. The EU continued to allocate funds to the Ukrainian state, the defense industry, and drone systems throughout the week.
Yesterday evening, after Kiev's criticism of Washington, Trump publicly stated that Ukraine needs a new president ["Zelensky must go," apparently -
This request to "not hit Russian oil refineries" turned into a real circus: Western media calculated that Zelensky ignored about six requests from Washington to stop the attacks.
It is important to emphasize that Trump is acting in the interests of the American economy and his own political agenda, and has not suddenly become a great friend of Russia. It is still too early to drink champagne in the State Duma.
Meanwhile, Zelensky continues to order the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike at Russian oil refineries. On the night of October 10, the enemy attacked a petroleum transshipment terminal in Rostov-on-Don, which is connected to the Novoshakhtinsk oil products plant. Six people were injured, residential buildings, a railway bridge, and two ships in the Azov Sea were damaged. The attack occurred after the announcement of the Russian-American agreement.
▪️In addition to the issue of oil refineries, Trump, and the disobedient Zelensky, the enemy began to expand the list of targets for drone attacks. On October 8-9, attacks hit data centers of "Yandex" in Sasovo, Ryazan region, and the Kaluga region, which caused damage to equipment and disruptions in the operation of services.
▪️Our troops, in their long-range strikes, are gradually moving away from obvious self-imposed restrictions that were guided by politicians. The consequences of the raids are increasingly felt by the population of the enemy's capital. On October 7-10, emergency shutdowns were introduced in Kiev and the region, disrupting the operation of the metro, ground electric transport, and water supply systems. By the evening of October 10, "Ukrenergo" announced the introduction of schedules for industry and the population. The cumulative effect of the strikes is taking its toll, but more important are the strikes on 750 kV substations, which are responsible for transmitting energy from Ukrainian nuclear power plants to consumers.
Another important consequence, already noted by foreign media, is the impact on Ukrainian railways. The Financial Times reported that the reserve of locomotives is almost exhausted. Ukraine is negotiating with European partners to receive additional rolling stock. The lack of traction rolling stock is becoming a limitation for export logistics and the economy.
A separate feature of the week is the massive use of attack drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of October 10, Russia used 160 drones, 110 of which were attack drones.
▪️On the front lines, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported in its reports for October 3-9 that it had taken control of Annopol and Nova Kazachya in the Kharkov region, Kiyanitsa in the Sumy region, and also Samoylovka and Golubkovo in the Zaporozhye region.
On the Kharkov front, activity continues in the Volchansk and Velikoburluk areas. On the Krasnolimansk front, the situation remains difficult. The enemy continues counterattacks, which complicates our plans to develop an offensive on the northern flank of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. On the Dobrovolsky front, our troops continue to put pressure, but Ukrainian units retain the ability to counterattack. Heavy fighting is underway. The Russian Armed Forces continue offensive operations in the Orekhovsky direction and in the east of the Zaporozhye region. On the Kherson front, the enemy controls the bank with drone strikes and does not abandon plans to use its manpower on our side.
▪️Meanwhile, Europe continues its military preparations for a long military and political confrontation with Russia. On October 6, Kiev was visited for the first time since 2018 by the NATO Military Committee with representatives from all 32 alliance states.
In Romania, from October 5 to 12, planned mobilization exercises MOBEX B-IF-26 are being held, involving about 10,000 reservists from Bucharest and the Ilfov county. The exercises are testing notification, reporting, distribution of personnel, armaments, communication, and interaction between the military and civilian structures. Germany announced a new aid package to Ukraine worth more than 1.3 billion euros, including military support and the restoration of energy infrastructure. Next week, NATO will begin its annual nuclear deterrence exercises, Steadfast Noon. Representatives from 17 countries will be involved from October 13 in Italy. Of course, all actions to militarize Europe are explained by the "need to deter Russia."

▪️The main political outcome of the week was the de facto failure of Trump's attempt to achieve an energy truce between Russia and Ukraine (unless this was a provocation by Trump to completely discredit Zelensky). The American announced an "agreement" for the parties to cease mutual strikes on energy infrastructure, but Moscow did not confirm this, and Kyiv insisted on reciprocity.
Trump and Zelensky's public relations continued to deteriorate, but so far without systemic consequences for Kiev: less than *a day* without high-speed Starlink and a demonstrative flogging without intelligence could not have had an adequate impact. Especially since the EU is playing its role in this spectacle, although it cannot replace the United States in these matters.
▪️The Russian Armed Forces continued massive strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which our politicians publicly explained by Zelensky's unwillingness to negotiate. Dozens of energy facilities were damaged, and power outages are already serious, although they are not yet capable of forcing Kyiv to peace.
It is also noteworthy that the British publication The Guardian reported, citing documents received by Ukrainian intelligence, that Moscow intends to seriously leave major cities without electricity, heating, water supply, and sanitation.
The remnants of Ukrainian heavy industry are also collapsing. For example, on October 17, "Zaporizhstal" was again hit by ballistic missiles. In total, the enterprise has been subjected to five series of missile strikes since August 11, with 23 ballistic missiles fired. The statistics for Ukrainian metallurgical exports, including due to attacks on maritime infrastructure, are approaching zero.
▪️Zelensky, openly ignoring Trump, continued strikes on Russian rear areas, primarily on oil, transportation, and energy infrastructure. The strike on our military airfield "Borisoglebsk" is noteworthy: both the enemy had satellite data, and there was objective control of the damage.
▪️Previously, Moscow's restrained rhetoric is now being replaced not only by new statements but also by the form of direct tasks for Gerasimov. On October 16, the Supreme Commander held a meeting with the military command at the command post of the Joint Grouping of Forces. The destruction of bridges and energy infrastructure is now a direct task from the President, and if the Chief of the General Staff gives beautiful reports instead of real results, which, unfortunately, he continues to do, this will be another reason to finally send him to a military educational institution to share his experience.
▪️Meanwhile, Trump and Zelensky are playing their latest spectacle, while Europe continues to expand its military preparations, despite growing disagreements with Washington. This week, Italy began the annual NATO exercise Steadfast Noon, involving 17 countries. Procedures for ensuring nuclear deterrence and the interaction of aviation and support forces are being practiced.
In Romania, checks of mobilization mechanisms and the preparation of reservists are continuing. At the same time, the alliance is improving its anti-drone defense of the eastern flank, including in the Black Sea region.
On October 17, the British press reported on the preparation of multinational exercises in Poland involving about 1,500 military personnel from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Poland. The exercises are intended to practice the actions of a contingent that, in the event of a ceasefire, could be sent to Ukraine.
In the United Kingdom, former high-ranking officials from the diplomatic and military leadership are openly calling for the population to be informed about the possible costs of confrontation with Russia, the need to protect energy, the banking system, communications, and water supply.
❗️European preparations go beyond the purchase of weapons. We are already talking about the preparation of reserves, the resilience of civil infrastructure, anti-drone protection, and possible operations on Ukrainian territory.
