Dear Readers,
This is a reminder for today's session.
We are happy to inform you that for the first time the Reading Club session is dedicated to the POETRY.
This time RC is going to examine poetry of two American authors - Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) and Robert Lee Frost (1874-1963).

Poe’s stature as a major figure in world literature is primarily based on his ingenious and profound short stories, poems, and critical theories, which established a highly influential rationale for the short form in both poetry and fiction.
Robert Lee Frost is highly regarded for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech. His work frequently employed settings from rural life in New England in the early twentieth century, using them to examine complex social and philosophical themes. A popular and often-quoted poet, Frost was honored frequently during his lifetime, receiving four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry.
Please consider that poetry is not only for those who are interested in literature, it is for everyone who wants to develop his or her critical thinking, analytic, and writing skills.

“… all of my successes in business owe a debt to the critical thinking skills that I refined by writing and reading poetry… “- entrepreneur Brad Cran.

This time RC session would be held on January 26 at 13:30 -15:00 in Blue Room ATB and led by Rozaliya Ziryanova.
P.S. The most active patricipants will be rewarded with prizes, such as wireless keyboards with mouses and a set of a cup, a notebook and a pen with the WIUT logo! For the prizes, see the attached file.
We look forward to seeing you in our Reading Club!

Dear Students,

Today’s rubric of #FAQ is Referral/Deferral Assessments (also known as #Semester9)

Referral Assessment:
A Referral gives a student an opportunity to retrieve a failed assessment component(s) of a failed module. From this academic year the regulations of the Referral Assessment were changed and now a student with any mark below 40 have a chance to a referral exam during the summer period. The mark awarded to any referred assessment component will be capped at the pass mark (40).

Deferral Assessment:
A student may only be deferred in a module as a result of mitigating circumstances. Where a student is deferred in a module, it will not count as an attempt at that module and the student will have a right to be assessed as if for the first time (so you can get mark higher than 40).

Condonment:
Condonement is a mechanism by which a module can be passed and credit can be awarded even where the module pass mark or a qualifying mark, and thus the module learning outcomes, have not been achieved. Condonement is only available to students undertaking modules at Levels 3 and 4 and the overall module mark should be at least 30.

Retake:
A Retake gives the student an opportunity to retrieve the failed assessment component(s) of a failed module during the next academic year, and requires the student to repeat the module in its entirety, with attendance, including all assessment components that may have already been passed. The student will be liable for the appropriate tuition fees.
