🔹Iranian Demonstration in Berlin with Prince Reza Pahlavi
A large-scale demonstration was held in Berlin on April 23, hosted by the Association for the Promotion of Open Society in cooperation with local Berlin groups, with more than 10,000 participants in attendance. According to Berlin police, the crowd gathered during the speech of Prince Reza Pahlavi at the Federal Press Conference House, and the event became one of the largest Iran-related gatherings in the city.
Prince Reza Pahlavi, before the event, met with German politicians and strongly criticized 47 years of what he described as European governments’ policy of appeasement toward the Islamic Republic. In his speech to the crowd gathered near the parliament, he reiterated this criticism, stating that European leaders should apologize to the Iranian people for decades of support for the ruling system in Iran.
The demonstration drew a large and engaged crowd, reflecting significant mobilization among the Iranian diaspora. At the conclusion of the program, Prince Reza Pahlavi and his accompanying delegation also met with a number of Persians in exile, including former political prisoners, justice-seeking parents whose children or siblings were killed by the regime, political activists, and social media activists.
A number of political figures, civil society representatives, and activists delivered speeches, including:
Prof. Dr. Reza Asghari (MP, CDU), Karoline Preisler (FDP), Valerio Krüger (human rights organization), Romina Moradi Fam (Students Network), Apameh Schönauer (Miss Germany), Volker Beck (President, German-Israeli Association), Daniel Ilkhanipour (SPD member and Member of the Hamburg State Parliament), Karl-Heinz Paqué (former Finance Minister of Saxony-Anhalt), and Andreas Büttner (Commissioner for Anti-Semitism since 2024).
The demonstration received broad media coverage, with journalists and camera teams from outlets such as Reuters, ZDF, DPA, Iran International, Pars TV, Israel’s Channel 12, and other media organizations and independent reporters present on site.
