🔹“Reza Shah Necklace” Song Goes Viral After State TV Remarks

The story began with anti-Iranian remarks made by Reihaneh Ghasemi-Nejad, a chador-wearing presenter on Iran’s state television, who said: “Southern Iran should be sacrificed for southern Lebanon.” Her remarks triggered a strong reaction from Persians around the world and brought an old song, “Around their neck, a necklace with Reza Shah’s portrait,” back into the spotlight.

For many, this song became a way of emphasizing that the people of southern Iran, like people across the country, deeply love their homeland and would never sacrifice either their lives or their land for the regime’s proxies or the terrorist and ideological agenda of the Islamic Republic and its supporters.

The song has been popular for many years, particularly among people in southern Iran. It evokes an image familiar to many in the region: a necklace bearing the portrait of a member of the Pahlavi dynasty.

The controversy has led to a renewed surge in the song’s popularity, inspiring numerous clips, lip-sync videos, dances, and performances. Images and videos have also circulated widely showing young Iranians, particularly members of Gen Z, wearing necklaces featuring portraits or symbols of the Pahlavi dynasty.
