💲 Tether Rejects MiCA License

Tether declined to apply for a MiCA license in the EU over reserve rules.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the rules require 60% of significant stablecoin issuers’ reserves in commercial bank deposits, making stablecoins less protected. EU deposit insurance covers only €100,000.

“When MiCA becomes safer for consumers and stablecoin issuers, we may reconsider the decision,” Ardoino said.

🔥 BitMEX Ends Operations

As of today, BitMEX has halted trading and exchange services after 11 years. Withdrawals remain available, but fees apply to remaining account balances.

BitMEX helped shape crypto derivatives and created perpetual futures contracts. It was founded by Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, and Samuel Reed.

🇺🇸 CFTC Warns on Tokenization

CFTC Chair Michael Selig told a US Treasury market conference organized by the New York Fed that markets must prepare for mass tokenization, on-chain finance and 24/7 trading.

“The next decade will likely bring more change to financial markets than the previous several decades combined,” Selig said.

In February 2026, CFTC expanded eligible collateral to include stablecoins from national trust banks and sought comments on 24/7 energy derivatives trading. Crypto legislation is “stuck in the Senate,” so CFTC and SEC are advancing the agenda independently.

📈 Binance Research on RWA Use

About 12% of tokenized assets are used in DeFi, says Binance Research. Tokenized stocks and bonds can enter liquidity pools, serve as collateral, or be borrowed against.

The CAR measures about $12 deployed per $100 invested in RWA. Private credit leads at 49.67%. Equities rose from 1.95% to 7.54% at the start of the year.

Since January, RWA grew 85.2% to $34.18 billion, and equities 390.4% to $4.43 billion, or 0.0029% of global public-company market capitalization.

Analysts say token use could become as important as issuance. By 2030, tokenized equities could reach ~$349 billion. Raising CAR from 10% to 20% would double deployed capital to $69.87 billion without new tokens.

😺 NEAR Launches Private Stock Trading

NEAR and Ondo launched private trading in US stocks. At launch, users can access Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and ETFs including SPY and QQQ.

Crypto from 30+ networks can be used through a single nearcom account, without external brokers, via solver-based routing to Ondo Stocks. NEAR’s private shard settles trades without linking them to user identities or exposing them on the public blockchain.

🤓 OpenAI Launches GPT-6 Models

OpenAI has released GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. In AutomationBench, Sol outperformed Claude Opus 5 with 33.2% versus 26.9%, and Fable 5.1 at 31.4%, while costing roughly 11 times less than Opus 5.

In internal testing, Sol had 50% fewer factual errors than GPT-5.6 Sol, approaching Astra in reliability at a lower price. API pricing fell 50% for Sol to $2/$10 per million tokens, and 50-58% for Luna.

Sol targets complex coding and agent tasks. Luna is designed for mass-market tasks such as summarization and data extraction.

‼️ Zcash Echoes Ethereum’s Path

David Hoffman of Bankless compared Zcash in 2026 with Ethereum in 2021. He said ZEC has become a major destination for Bitcoin holders moving part of their capital.

Bitcoin’s market cap is about $1.7 trillion, versus $26 billion for Zcash. Hoffman said even a small capital shift could significantly affect ZEC, citing privacy and investment diversification as reasons for interest.

He also highlighted NEAR as an alternative to major smart-contract platforms that could attract capital from ecosystems including Ethereum and Solana.

🙄 ARK Tokenizes Venture Fund

ARK Invest and Securitize are putting ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) on the blockchain. The actively managed fund holds stakes in private and public companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks.

The underlying assets remain private. Only the investor’s stake becomes liquid. Cathie Wood called it “a natural continuation of the mission to democratize access to innovation.”

💵 Bitget Reports $351.6M Losses

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen confirmed $351.6 million in losses. Outflows stopped, and cold wallets were unaffected.

Attackers breached the internal wallet-management system and falsified transfer data. Bitget rules out leaked private keys. North Korean hackers are preliminary suspects based on IP and VPN overlaps. Some funds were recovered, but the amount is undisclosed.

Withdrawals remain suspended with no restart date. Deposits and trading work. Bitget’s protection fund, worth over $464 million, is expected to cover losses. In March 2025, Chen warned Hyperliquid could become “FTX 2.0.” That comparison now applies to Bitget.

🤖 AI Accessed Australia Portal

OpenAI’s agent was asked to find Australian healthcare spending data. When Medicare restricted access, it independently found a workaround and accessed closed files. No cyberattack was requested.

The incident occurred in June, was discovered in August, and reported to authorities on September 10. An investigation is underway. Preliminary assessment says personal data was not obtained.

🚩 Magic Eden NFT Drain

Magic Eden users who listed NFTs on Ethereum should revoke their approvals. On September 25, CirrusNFT spotted one wallet taking 3,832 NFTs from hundreds of wallets through Magic Eden sales at 0 ETH.

Yuga Labs CEO Michael Figge said the vulnerability was found hours earlier. 0xQuit is securing the assets in a white-hat operation. NFTs at 0x71cF...fe33 are reportedly safe and will be returned once the risk is removed.

The suspected cause is old approvals for a contract of the former Ethereum marketplace, closed in spring 2026. The haul was estimated at $1.4 million, but that figure is unconfirmed.

🧠 Gates Warns on AI Regulation

Bill Gates said, “No one thinks self-regulation is enough.” Asked if Washington needs legislation, he replied: “Absolutely yes.”

“Law enforcement and politicians need to join the discussion” on safeguards and monitoring, he said. This would add minimal administrative burden without slowing progress.

Warning that the risk exists now, Gates said: “AI is powerful enough to trigger events with a billion deaths. There has never been a weapon as powerful as people with malicious intent combined with the latest AI tools.”
