🇰🇷 South Korea Stocks Slide

South Korea's KOSPI opened down 6% to around 5,500 points. A circuit breaker halted trading for 20 minutes, the first such stop since 29 July.

Samsung Electronics and SK hynix fell more than 9%. 855 of 916 traded stocks declined amid concerns over excess memory-chip supply from China's CXMT, weak AI investment returns, and further Fed rate hikes after US inflation data.

🇪🇺 USDC Gains MiCA Status

EBA recognized Circle’s USDC as a significant e-money token under MiCA, making it the first stablecoin in the EU with this status.

From 12 November 2026, EBA and France’s ACPR will jointly supervise it. EBA will oversee capital, reserves, liquidity and redemption plans.

ECB is also studying the digital euro, which could launch in 2029 after legislation and a pilot.

😄 Wintermute Sets Recovery Conditions

Wintermute says recovery requires stable US government bond yields and renewed spot ETF inflows. Fed minutes showed many officials expect another rate hike this year.

BTC fell 3.2% and ETH 7% over the past week. Spot BTC ETFs saw $679 million in outflows, the most since late June. ETH ETFs lost $542 million.

Caution should increase if 30-year yields exceed 5.64% or BTC keeps running into $82,500. US September inflation data is due Wednesday, October 14.

😇 Hart Detained in Istanbul

Richard Hart, founder of HEX and PulseChain (PLS), was detained with his wife in Istanbul, Turkish media reported. His real name is Richard James Schuler.

He is wanted under an Interpol Red Notice requested by Finland in 2024 over major tax fraud. Authorities seized $600,000 in cash, weapons, jewelry, computers and other equipment.

The SEC accused Hart of investor fraud in 2023, but the case was closed in 2025 for lack of jurisdiction. HEX and PLS fell 30%.

👎 Bitcoin Bottom, Ledger Disaster

Someone bought the Bitcoin bottom for $5.2 million and sat on $1.38 million in profit. But a week ago, hackers emptied the Ledger holding his Bitcoin.

He could have used part of the money for Bybit futures and bought a house with the rest. Instead, he bought real spot BTC, then a Chinese flash drive and transferred more than $5 million in BTC to it.

🔈 Ledger Shows Smartphone Wallet

Ledger Atom is a smartphone-format wallet supporting Android apps. Calls are unavailable, while transactions can be signed in a separate secure mode. A physical switch can disable the camera and microphone.

Amid concerns over spyware implants, Ledger says tamper sensors work even when the device is off. The protection has not undergone independent testing. The Founder’s Edition costs $849, rising to $899. Deliveries are planned for summer 2027.

🙀 Starknet L1 Proposal

Starknet opened a 7-day advisory vote on moving from L2 to an independent L1 resistant to quantum attacks.

STARK proofs are already in use, and accounts can adopt quantum-resistant signatures without a protocol upgrade. A standalone L1 would remove dependence on Ethereum for bridges and data availability.

If approved, the team will begin research and prepare detailed proposals. The transition timeline is undefined. STRK +10%

💲 Tether Payments Raise Questions

WSJ says Tether paid Nxum $6.3 million. One-third of the firm belonged to Bo Hines, then a White House official promoting the GENIUS Act.

Trump signed the law in July 2025. Hines left the White House in August 2025 and joined Tether’s USAT stablecoin business in September 2025.

Nxum said Hines did not work with Tether while in government. WSJ noted a possible conflict of interest but did not allege a legal violation.

Mt. Gox ex-head Mark Karpeles opened a Ledger Nano X from MediaMarkt in Germany and found an LTE module inside.

He said it was the same implant found in wallets from Southeast Asia, but ready for mass production. Ledger found no tampering, yet the network removed its products from sale.
